    Cuttin' It Close
I hired Cuttin It Close to remove a aluminum patio overhang. Since the cement underneath slanted toward the house, I asked if they also did cement work. They said they did and had done many jobs in the past. They wanted payment after taking out the old cement patio and the overhang. The cost was $1,750.00. Then after that they wanted payment of $975.00 for the cement because they had been burned in the past when after ordering the customer cancelled. The request for the $975.00 was not in the original contract agreement. They poured the cement and did the worst job that two professional contractors have ever seen. The owner stated he would add two inches to the cement. That would not be a good fix since the area between the old and new cement would cause cracks due to freezing and thawing during the winter months. Note from one contractor stated that " In regards to your patio that was poured on the 5th of August, the surface of the patio is as you can see beyond acceptable in any standards. You had mentioned that they wanted to come back to cap it. Adding a layer of ready mix over an existing slab is not recommended for a couple of reasons, 1 given the freeze thaw cycle of our climate in this area gives way for moisture to accumulate in between the two layers therefore allowing for that moisture to freeze in the winter time and separate the two layers causing heaving of the top layer, and will break apart in that process. More importantly is the expectation of getting quality work done to ensure the longevity of your investment. If placed properly, finished properly, joint cuts put in timely, will bring desired results. Unfortunately in my opinion your only option at the this time would be to have the patio torn back out, and replaced using an experienced contractor" Another contractor stated that "work showed abhorrent signs of inexperience for basic concrete procedures, patio not screens for drainage, expansion joints around the house were completely wrong and finally there were no control joints and no finish". He never offered to pay me for the cement or the money to take out the old cement.. He also did not wash down the cement by the curb.

    M & S Mudjacking
Matt was delayed by rain but started promptly when it was dry enough.  He coordinated well ahead of the work and informed me regularly during the job.  Matt & his assistant were pleasant and professional.  I recommend him highly!

    Behncke Construction Inc.
This is the company to go to for anything related to basements. Our basement walls were bowing and we were getting water in the basement. They installed steel beams to stop the movement of the walls and put in a drainage system. They were great to work with, and we couldn't be happier with the quality of the work. They saved the value of our home!

    Leffler Construction
They did a quick and professional job. Had it all done in roughly 3 days. We had rain on the first day which slowed things down a little, but they did prep work for the next day. I only have one small complaint, because I had to pick up water bottles, Gator-ade bottles and a pop can after the cement contractor was done. This was not Leffler Construction who did this but a contractor who works with them on cement work. The cement contractor did an excellent job otherwise.

    Behncke Construction Inc.
Behncke has completed a half dozen jobs for me in the past.  The work team walked  through the  area double checking the jobs that needed  to be done.  They covered the ground where they would  be working so when they finished, they left  nothing behind except the fine work they did.  They broke open the cracked areas of the stucco, and in most cases on the north, they were able to apply 1 layer of hand mixed concrete.  The south and west sides had large patches of of cracked concrete.  When they were removed, I could see the wall of the original wood house built 103 yrs. ago.  The crew had to replace rusty wire;  they filled the areas with several layers of concrete.  Fortunately the weather was with them all 3 days. I like the way the guys worked together and kept me in the loop.  They were on hourly wage, even so they worked quickly but carefully and deserved every hour of pay. I like Behncke Construction:  small group of seasoned workers, reasonable rates for QUALITY work, and  nothing left behind but  a surface ready for siding.  Over 35 yrs. I have always chosen smaller, local companies whose workers have been with the company for various lengths of time.  Over the the long run, companies like Behncke Construction and their employees have improved my home and thus my neighborhood.  I know the siding company will appreciate they can do quality work because the underlying surface was done with care.  Hats off to another successful quality job completed by Behncke Construction, Inc.!

    Gibby's Concrete Construction
He had done the main cement work on our house that we live in that we built.  We needed to make a change which involved some more cement work so I called him, because I was impressed of what he had done in the first place.

    Behncke Construction Inc.
Joe arrived from Behncke within two days of my request for an estimate. He was polite and very professional. His quote was much below what I anticipated. They began work within a few days of me accepting the quote. The work crews were efficient and very courteous. They had the job completed within two days. They cleaned up after themselves. I only wish I had known about them years ago! It would have saved me so much grief over a leaking basement. I had an estimate several years ago that was over $10,000 and it involved extensive work. Behncke's estimate was better than reasonable and the work was top notch. I wholeheartedly recommend them.
