    Iowa Ortho
Still under their care and will be for several more weeks. Accident 4/29/18. Dr. Ash (knee) compassionate, professional, answered my many questions. Staff all great. Dr. Kessler (foot) my first surgery, anesthesia, stitches, broken bones. Very nervous. He was kind, humorous and explained exactly what would happen. Professional, knowledgeable and put me immediately at ease. Surgery went just like he said. No problems. Everyone was helpful. Anesthesiologist was kind and reassuring. So far so good. Definitely would recommend highly!

    Jeffrey Fagerland DO
Dr. Fagerland has performed several procedures for me over the past fifteen years. The most recent being a hysterectomy in May 2017. No complications from the procedure, in fact I feel great. He is very thorough and he strives to make sure you understand exactly what the procedure will be and what will happen during the healing process afterwards. Dr. Fagerland is a very intelligent and caring person and a wonderful doctor. The only negative I have is with the individual who schedules the procedures for his practice. She caused me a great amount of worry and frustration as she was very rude and difficult to deal with. This person told me my procedure would not be scheduled for at least four months. The doctor had told me otherwise, she said she would speak with the doctor and call me back. She never called back. After a week of waiting I called and requested to speak to someone else in the office. I don't know what her issues were, but when you're not feeling well the last thing a person needs are unnecessary confrontations.

    Hodne, Dr. Barbara L
I have followed Dr. Hodne to three different offices around the Des Moines area. She is a doctor that really listens to what you're saying and gives various options depending on the situation. Just a wonderful person and a fantastic doctor!

Iowa Clinic Foot & Ankle Phys
This being a teaching clinic in coordination with the Des Moines University's school of podiatry.  I believe my care was very good due to the student that was with the doctor.  I had several x-rays for the foot in question and I enjoyed listening as student Dr. was explaining why things were being done and what they were looking for.
Dr. Feilmeier made me feel relaxed and explained options.  X-rays were shown to me and explained.  I felt well taken care of and will return if necessary.

    Jerrold V Flatt

Dr Flatt's office makes it clear that he declines to update his rather dark, quite small waiting room with the stained chairs and one fake plant.  The rest of his office, to include the clerical area, the exam rooms, his office and what used to be Katie's office are drab and dingy.  He is never running on time.  I have waited an hour and a half to get in to my appointment when the small waiting room was full of people sneezing and coughing.  There is nowhere to go to avoid those germs.  Dr. Flatt says he has no intention of hiring a woman physician's assistant for his female patients, like he had at one time, or any physician's assistant at all, even though he is always running very late for appointments and seems overwhelmed.  I continue to request a woman practitioner but he continues to deny the need.  He is the only practitioner in his office.  Dr. Flatt is said to be a good diagnostician, but his bedside manner is very quiet, awkward and stiff. He isn't easy to communicate with and I always get the impression that he has somewhere better to be than with me in the exam room.  Even though I have been on the same medications, with the same dosages, for years, I am required to make an appointment and sit in the visitor's chair in his messy office just so he can print out my prescription refills from his computer.  There isn't really any exam.  He may listen to my heart very briefly and order some lab work on occasion, but there is no exam.  With Katie I wasn't required to make an appointment just for her to print out prescription refills.  She trusted me to come to her if I needed medical attention, but she didn't force me to see her for no reason.  Frequently, the prescriptions that are in Dr. Flatt's computer to be printed out are not even mine, even though, for some reason, they are under my name.  It generally takes several days for a routine refill, with no changes in the medication or dosage, to be authorized.  The pharmacy is required to send multiple prompts in order to get a refill, and occasionally my prescriptions, that I have been on for years will suddenly change dosage or be refused to the pharmacy for no discernible reason, so I have to be responsible for correcting the doctor's mistakes.  His office has the ability to do some labs in house, and can also do X-rays.  The front desk staff is moody and Dr Flatt only hires lesser qualified nursing staff so he doesn't have to pay for an RN.  There usually aren't enough staff to go around and phones will ring and ring, making me wonder if anyone will answer them.

    Iowa Clinic
His bedside manner is very good. I had him for over 30 years and he's an excellent doctor. The staffs were very helpful and always pleasant. Sometimes they can work me in right away depending on what it is but usually within a week or two I can get in. You don't have to wait if you have an appointment scheduled. It's been all a very pleasant experience.

    Iowa Clinic
My last experience was good. The staff is great, other than they don't communicate well from the front desk back to the nurses. I called and left a message and never heard back. When I called back, they said they never got the message, but I had spoken with someone. I've been using them for a year.

    Galles Jr, Dr. Joseph F.
They are good from what I heard. He is real good. I had foot surgery and tendon which never healed and so he gave me foot brace and some physical therapy things and fixed my tendon and that is pretty rare. I didn't have any problem getting hold of them.

I went with them because they were close. I like them because they do all the scheduling and answer all my questions when i call. Their billing is not painful and they take care of everything. It is always the proper amount and not changed.

    UnityPoint Clinic
There are okay but we have a few problems with scheduling and monitoring some blood levels on things that I'm going through. They get competitive when I try to get them work with another clinic yet sometimes I need them to work together. I don't know why that is. They don't do anything that they don't have to do.
