    I've been a patient here for YEARS. The doctor is nice, the staff not so much. The prices are outrageous, the quality of the glasses is poor. I keep having to take them back in for repairs. Now, they want my credit card number to schedule an appointment. They want to charge me $1 just to be sure it is active. I understand charging if I miss an appointment, many doctors do that. But only scammers charge just to see if your card is active. Don't waste your time and hard earned money here.

    Dr. Miller is fantastic! This review is in no way a representation of the treatment I received from my eye doctor. This review is solely based on the terrible customer service and contact lens department at this office. I have been waiting for contact lenses for three months after I was told it would take two to three weeks. THREE MONTHS FOR CONTACT LENSES. I will be due for my next annual eye exam before I receive my contact lenses. I have called this office at least 10 times in the past two months to find out where my contacts are. I am extremely frustrated because its impossible to reach someone in the contact lens department, they won't answer the phone. I have to leave multiple voice messages before anyone will call me. When I finally get someone to call me back I hear excuses like "oh I thought we called you yesterday", or "your email address isn't working for us" (my e-mail works fine). No one provides me an update. I am always extremely polite and never say anything rude. I have worked for in customer service for a fortune 100 company for 9 years. I understand how people should be treated. With a contact lens order this far behind I would expect someone from the office to be in contact with me regularly with status updates. That would be good customer service! I have NEVER received an unsolicited phone call from this office with a status update or explanation as to my contact lens order is 2 MONTHS late. No one is proactively trying to resolve this issue. I am not important to them. As a customer I feel like I don't exist. I assume they would be happier if I would stop calling and just give up. Two weeks ago I had to call the office three times before someone finally called me back. The woman on the phone was very nice and explained they had an issue at the manufacturer and that was the reason this order has been so late. She assured me that the issue had been taken care of and that I would have my contacts in one week or less. Guess what?!?! Two weeks, no contacts and no further communication from this office. I don't exist to these people as a customer. I have been wearing the same set of monthly disposable contacts for over two months now and they are literally causing me eye pain. I'm very frustrated and disgusted by this. I have worn contact lenses for 15 years and I have never had to put up with anything like this anywhere else.

    I had Technis multifocal lenses implanted six years ago when I needed cataract surgery. Dr. Husain is very passionate about how he can help his patients and he is right. Six years later, my vision is still perfect! My pre-cataract surgery vision was 20/200 and on my check up this month, it was 20/20. Thank you Dr. Husain!

    The salesman acted very friendly, was very good at giving deals - and selling.  
    After my purchase (2 pairs of glasses - over 600.00 - "buy one get one free" deal, so he charged me 600 for one pair), I felt something fishy, decided to cancel my order.  I called the store.
    The salesman did not back off - he kept saying "I'm just trying to help you."  I had to use L word to cancel my purchase.
    Overall, their business is like a hard sell, car dealer.  Very aggressive, unprofessional and rude.

    I am always extremely impressed with my visits to the DMU Clinic. It is easier to secure an appointment than other clinics, and patients can elect to enroll in text message reminders of appointments. The location is convenient and easy to access. The nurses always ask if it is okay if a student can join the PA/doctor. I feel as if the doctors are more thorough with their examinations than other clinics as they are teaching a future medical professionals; they really take the time to explain things to the patient and share possible causes for any ailments. The doctors and nurses answer all of my questions, and as I feel as if my PA, Jolene Givant, is especially attentive. I never feel rushed and feel as if she is genuinely concerned with my health and well-being. I always leave with answers to all of my questions instead of just a prescription, which has been my experience at other facilities. The bedside manner of all doctors is fabulous, and it is evident that they are knowledge of the most recent medical research and recommendations.
    The physical therapy is great as well. While I was excited to "graduate" (and receive a t-shirt), I was almost sad to be done as I felt as if I learned so much at each session.

    Physicians Eye Clinic
    The appointment couldn't be scheduled for approx. 3 weeks from when I called which was maybe my fault for waiting until my last pair of contacts to make the appointment. The office setting is very professional and they shuffle you through different people pretty quickly to run a number of tests. I was with one person for about 15 minutes and I was almost certain that she was the eye doctor. But, then she left and a different woman came in and introduced herself as the doctor. 
    They gave me a pair of trial contacts and when I checked out I expected a call in a week or so to see how the contacts were working. They never called, so I called after several weeks. All they asked was whether I liked them and how many I wanted to order. I said that I wanted to shop around and if they could fax or email my prescription. This is the part that annoys me because they won't do it. I either had to go back in the office to get it (not very close to home) or they would put it in the mail. I got my prescription in the mail a week and a half later.
    At checkout they also charged me $40 which I thought was strange since my insurance covers eye exams minus a $10 copay. I let it go but then 4 weeks later I received a bill from them asking for another $10. I called my insurance company and they confirmed that eye exams were covered. I didn't pay the $10 extra and I should be getting a $30 back from Physicians Eye Clinic. I assume I'll need to call if I want to get the $30 back.
    Physicians Eye Clinic is a lot like all other eye care clinics I have gone to. The doctors and doctor's assistants all do a fine job but they do a lousy job when it comes to after care services and billing.
    I can't get excited about going back and I'll likely go back to Whylie's or try another place out.

    Dr. Den Hartog saw me after someone else gave me a vision test. I have been having trouble with glare and seeing with my glasses. Dr. Den Hartog did more testing and told me I have cataracts and need a new prescription for glasses. I can have cataract surgery now or wait to see how new multi-focus lenses for people with astigmatism are working for others. She is very friendly, and I feel comfortable with her and her diagnosis.

    They had a good selection of frames in a wide variety of prices.  They gave me all the time I needed picking out frames.  They offered different kinds of lenses and anti-glare coating.  My glasses were ready in a week.  They adjusted them when I picked them up and a few days later when I wanted more adjustments without additional cost.  Their prices were reasonable.  The money I saved was worth the drive to Ankeny.

    I needed to renew my contacts prescription, and needed a new doctor after moving to Des Moines and changing insurance. Dr. Miller was great and explained everything in depth to me. My prescription had changed dramatically since the birth of my first child almost a year before and he was patient with me and did a very thorough examine. The staff were great and knowledgeable about my insurance coverage. They let me know about co-pays and potential additional costs up front before I even met with the doctor.

    I've had a really good experience with them. They had a good office environment. At the time they were going under some remodeling so it was a little confusing but I was able to get through that. I would use them if my insurance company covers them. There was a year where they wouldn't cover them.
