    Candyce Ackland MD
Dr. Ackland is OK. Her group is unbelievably awful. Her nurse is rude, has terrible listening skills and is dismissive. Her office staff is rude to the point of being abusive. Not only that, but they focus more on signing people up for seminars and selling nutritional supplements than patient care. I would never recommend going to anyone at this group.

    Jeffrey Walczyk MD
When we make an appointment it is fine, but when it is an emergency we don't have to wait a couple of days, we are able to get in quick.

What is the reason that you use him?
Probably because of the ease of getting right in when you need to. And then just the fact that we've seen him for over 20 years and he has a wonderful bedside manner. Those things that you are embarrassed to talk about, as a woman talking to a male doctor. I'm still not thrilled about it but there is an ease in it because he makes you comfortable and you know that he is not going to judge you for anything. The other thing is, we have a son, and when, well, our son is still growing up, but when our son was growing up we had issues with our son doing stupid things like some drugs and things like that. Dr. Walczyk was wonderful talking to him because our son was experimenting with things off of the internet, like herbal stuff, stuff from other countries that you can buy off of the internet even if you are underage. So, Dr. Walczyk was very clear and everything with him about telling him that they tell you that it is pure and it is just a plant but it's not governed by anybody so you don't know. He was wonderful with our son.

How is his staff and his office?
Oh, it's wonderful too. His nurses are kind and courteous. I've never had a problem with any of them. They are good natured. Sometimes I go in, in the past I have gone in and they have to weigh you. They are good natured. That's just kind of fun that you can do that and they will go along with that.

New patient first visit. First impression greeted with a receptionist opening the window with a pair of scissors. On her counter was pop and snacks. No effort made whatsoever to make me feel welcome as a new patient.
Not greeted wanted paperwork. Without paperwork the Dr had no time to see me. I wanted to meet the Physician and express to her my experience with my last Dr and my physical problems. But was told no time for MEET and GREET!
After observing most of the personnel that worked there were severely overweight and the attitude I walked out.

    Sowers, Dr. Allison J.
Office answer service was caught in an endless loop, left me on hold for over 20 minutes, with no progress. Took three calls to get through. When I brought it to their attention, they laughed instead of apologizing. Subsequent phone calls have resulted in long waits on hold.
She seemed attentive during the appt, but ordered some unnecessary blood work, then was unable to obtain timely referrals to specialists, or return calls in a timely fashion. Was quick to suggest that if the pain continued I should go to the emergency room. When I did, they were quite surprised I was there, and were unable to help me.
In a subsequent visit, she jumped to conclusions quite quickly about the pain, was unable to explain her opinions convincingly, and the pharmacy people I have worked with for a long time found her suggestions questionable. I called when the drug had adverse side effects, she insisted I keep trying it, or try another in the same class.
In a follow up on blood work, she was fixated on something I wasn't concerned about, but did not seem to hear me when I expressed concern about no change in another area, even after significant drug changes. She just pushed more, different drugs, instead of hearing me ask if maybe something else is contributing that we should investigate. I was quite frustrated, and went around her to Iowa City for a consultation, and most likely will be looking for another primary care doctor.

I was desperate to find a doctor that was actually accepting patients in the area. I was surprised to find that JDMG had a new doctor, Dr. Terronez, that was accepting new patients. This doctor is so refreshing. He's willing to entertain my "what if's". Like "You know you need to stop smoking." "well, what if I don't want to quit" "well, then, cutting down or doing 'x,y,z' will help you".
I'm pretty sure he's been practicing for less than 10 years just because he's a younger doctor (unless he's dougie howser). He's very passionate about his job and enthusiastic. I felt like he sat and had a conversation with me about my health instead of how other "washed up" doctors are really rough around the edges and blunt.
He referred me to a PT facility that I really didn't enjoy for my back issues. When I felt like those treatments weren't affective, I sat with him to discuss alternative means. We agreed upon chiropractic care, therapeutic massage and periodic visits back to him. Let me tell you, that has done WONDERS for my issues. At the age of 30, I was finding it difficult to transition movement (sitting to standing took a minute for my hip to adjust due to the sciatica pain).
The only reason why I gave a "B" for availability was because they're a VERY busy office so you want to plan accordingly. If it's important or more urgent, stress that w/ the receptionist and they are excellent about squeezing you in.

The doctor saw my son, looked at a mole and immediately informed us that it needed to me looked at. She set up an appointment with another doctor to look at it right away. This office is always ready to see you, listen to problems and try to solve the issue, if necessary as soon as possible. Always nice, immediate appointment if necessary. Have used this office for 16 years.

University Of Iowa Hospital & Clinic
I was diagnosed with stage III SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA in my cervix in December of 2011. I couldn't have asked for better care and understanding or patience than what I got from a very long string of various doctors from just as many different departments. I highly recommend the university of Iowa hospitals and clinics, at least to the people I have been to. Which doesn't leave many departments out.

I love Dr. Blechle, and his staff is very helpful. The only thing I don't like is that when I call I get the darned hit messages to press one, two, or five. When I call, I like getting a person. He is very caring, and very compassionate. He was also my sister's doctor, and she died of cancer seven and a half years ago. When the cancer was first diagnosed, Medicare was giving her some problems, and she was released from the hospital with oxygen. Medicare wanted her to go into the office to have her pulse ups checked, but she needed the oxygen. In order to do so, my son had to take off from work, and her son had to come in from another city to help her, and to carry her. He tried to find visiting nurses to come in for three days. We had one living three doors down from us, and we didn't know it. My son called Dr. Blechle, and he was here within twenty five minutes. He took care of it, and he said that we needn't take my sister to him, he would come to us. He was here three times in the six weeks that she still lived, and so was his partner Sarah Burns. She came here once. He has caring and compassion over and beyond. He knows his limitations as far as what he can do and when it would be better to refer the patient to someone else, and he sets up the appointments for me. He certainly does not have the God complex like a lot of doctors do. I would highly recommend Dr. Blechle to anybody.

Doctor was professional and got the job done quickly. There was a 20 minute or so wait before being seen, though I was on time for the appointment. Scheduling a follow up for continued treatment was difficult as well because of availability of the doctor.

    Quad City Family Physicians
Dr. Jason Davis is an excellent family physician. He takes time to listen to my concerns and questions and seems to genuinely care for people. He doesn't candy coat his explanation of his diagnosis or recommendations and has always been professional without being arrogant or condescending. I truly recommend anyone in the Quad Cities to see Dr. Jason Davis for all health care needs.
