    Iowa Wall Sawing
They finished the job in two days. Did not give me a written estimate. Said they were going to do a portion on the wall and never did it. Workers smoked and swore in my driveway on breaks. Door and entry way bashed up. They had to come back five times to fix minimal errors. They were very polite when they had to come back. Now they tell me they don’t warrenty the work (only the sump pump).

    MidAmerica Basement Systems
We had a few hiccups due to bad planning on the salesman's part, but the foreman Dillon and his crew were amazing. I am having them come back to install a second pump for our system. The foreman saved the day and went above and beyond the call of duty. I will recommend them in the future. It is worth every penny we spent on it.

From the initial phone contact through the final end of the project we dealt with the business owner,  Mark Lucas, who was polite, punctual, and professional.  We had an established date, but due to our own health issue had to move the project to a different date.  Mark was so easy to work with and accommodate this change of date.  The work was done as outlined when we chose this company.  What could have been a messy, dusty process was actually kept in check due to the equipment used and the end-of-day clean up by the work staff.  The final work was completed and we had a few questions.  Mark came personally to inspect the project at it's end and answered all questions.  We never felt rushed or pushed.  Most of all, we have peace of mind knowing that the job was done right with a company that will stand behind its work in the years ahead; for us and whoever will buy our home in the future. We have now been through the spring-rains season and can gladly say, "Our basement is DRY!!" Thanks, Mark Lucas/Dry-Basement Waterproofing LLC!

. There were some delays in scheduling, but once scheduled, the crews worked efficiently; the company has been responsive to any questions, and has discussed options that have cropped up along the way. We already had relationships with electricians and plumbers, and SJ was willing to work with and coordinate with thses providers. We have been extremely pleased with the attention and the quality of the work, as well as the willingness to keep us informed. Darryl Torrinport

    W&W Construction
We had a fabulous experience with Steve at W&W Construction! Our house was new when we moved in and so when we gathered bids to finish our basement (roughly 6 months after we moved in), we wanted a contractor who would be willing to use the same subcontractors and materials that had been used throughout the rest of the house so the basement finish would match the quality of the main floor finish. Steve was very accommodating, tracking down the suppliers used and print info for the rest of the house. He got us an estimate in a timely manner, broke the estimate down well so we knew exactly what would be included (like the bathroom mirror, etc.), and answered the questions we had quickly. He also had references available for me to check, which I did. Price-wise, his estimate came in near the middle of the pack - we had several estimates that were higher (some by as much as $10k more), and some lower, though the lower ones often didn't include all the materials that Steve's estimate included. At just under $30/square foot of finished space, for this area and the quality of finishes we were requesting, Steve's bid was very fair. Initially, Steve thought he wouldn't be able to begin our project until October of 2011. However, because of some delays in his other projects, he and his crew were able to start in late August. Though they started early every morning (7 a.m.), Steve arranged a way for his workers to use an alternate entrance so I didn't have constant traffic through my front door. Steve was very helpful in discussing our design, chalking out lines before starting, and making suggestions when we had questions about closet sizes, door locations, etc. The work proceeded very much as Steve told us it would. I had considered (because I knew which subcontractors I wanted to work with), working as the general contractor for our basement finish. I'm so glad I didn't! Steve did a great job keeping a steady stream of contractors in, overlapping where possible (such as for the initial plumbing and HVAC work), getting all the necessary permits as well as scheduling the inspections efficiently so we didn't waste time. Throughout the process, Steve was available by phone if he wasn't on site. If we had questions or concerns, he handled them the same day. We did not have any major changes to our design or layout once the work started, but we did have a few minor changes (such as upgrading the pad for the carpet, doing closet rod installation ourselves) and Steve worked out a fair price adjustment for those items. The project took less than 2 months, which was amazing, given the scope of the work - there was very little wasted time and very few days when there wasn't SOMETHING being done.  Because Steve got started earlier than originally planned, they were actually done with the project before they originally thought they'd be able to START the project! Other than the minor price adjustments I mentioned above, the final cost matched the estimate exactly. The only negative experience throughout the process was with the subcontractors used to install our carpet - because we had requested that all the same subs who were used to build the house also be used to finish the basement, this really wasn't Steve's fault.  When I shared my concerns and told Steve about my experience with the rude installers, he called the company himself, spoke to a manager, and was there in person to oversee the work when the carpet installers returned to fix the issues they caused.  Though we have not needed to, when the project was complete Steve told us to contact him if we had any problems with finishes. He definitely stood behind the work that was done and was willing to fix anything that was wrong. We are thrilled with our basement and feel we got exactly what we asked for from Steve - a high-quality finish that matches our upstairs exactly. Steve was outstanding to work with and he will be the first person we call if we ever have remodeling needs in the future!

    Chris's Handyman Services
Chris was on time, responsive, communicative and an overall excellent contractor. He did everything he said he would, an did it ahead of schedule. I have some additional work I will need him to do, and I will have no issues calling him back to do it. I have used several contractors in the Cedar Valley, and he is the only one I would recommend to friends.

The process of removing basement flooring, breaking up the concrete, and digging the trench was a noisy and dirty job, but they did their best (plastic coverings, drop cloths, vacuum)  to keep the dust in check and minimize the inconvenience to us.  After the job was completed, they did a good job of cleaning up in the area where the work took place.  They hauled away and disposed of all of the removed concrete, dirt, and other waste from the project.  They did everything they had promised and kept within the estimate they had given us before hand.  They were very responsive to our numerous questions before, during, and after the installation.  So far as we can tell, the system is working well.  The sump pump has functioned on several occasions, and we have had no evidence of water in our basement.  We have not had a major down pour since the system was installed, but based on the fact that the pump has run a few times anyway, we assume the system is performing as its supposed to.  We heard about the company through their sponsorship of programming on our public radio station.

    DAVE BARTLETT CONSTRUCTION
The owner came out, was punctual and on time. He was very professional, friendly and there was nothing I did not like about him. He was nice and gave me a quote in a couple of days; it was very expensive so I knew it would take him some time to do. When we are ready we are going to hire him to do our job. I had no complications with him and will use him again in the future.
