    I used Scott's Home Renewal for a first floor renovation about three years ago, was pleased and hired them again for this. Not the cheapest contractor, but definitely the best I have used here. First class professionals; first rate subs, especially the tile and glass people The custom glass door arrived with the wrong specs, and the glass contractor got the factory to make a new one with only one day of waiting..     Mark is the owner of Basement Finishing Experts. We really enjoyed working with Mark. Our basement is about 2100 sq ft of never finished area in our 20-year-old home. We really didn���t know what to expect or how to proceed. Some of the space was going to be a new office with heavy computer use and with a bathroom. Mark came out, looked over the project, listened to our ideas and added a lot of great suggestions. He was really the expert in suggesting things that could be done with the space we had that would add maximum value to our home. After he gathered all the information, he gave us a quote and timeline to do the work. He said it is his goal to never over promise and to always deliver on his promises. He seemed like a very nice guy but the proof would be in the coming weeks. The start date was set for November 1 and at 8 AM, Mark was there with the rough-in plumber. The work was started on time. Mark said he would be mostly finished by the end of the year. Actually, all work was finished on December 29 as Mark was there doing the final touch up work. We started moving in the next day. Thank you Mark. In the end, the project was started on time, ended before schedule, was on budget and there were no surprises materially or financially. The days between the start and finish of the project were delightful. Mark was very easy to work with and friendly every step of the way. He was always aware of every aspect of the job and had materials on site and ready for the workers so there would be not wasted time or delays. He went out of his way to get us the best prices on the items we selected and passed those savings on to us. During the work, he made sure the job site was organized and clean, minimizing the dust as much as possible. I appreciate that Mark only does basements. It is specialty work and he has perfected it. The crews Mark hires to do some of the work are as good as he is. They have worked with him for many, many years and the trust and report he has with them pays big dividends in projects like this. His crews were a positive reflection on Mark and his management skills. Since we were living upstairs as the work was in progress, we developed a close relationship with Mark, his crews and each step of the project. If we had another basement project to do, we would definitely chose Mark and the Basement Finishing Experts to do it. I will be telling all our friends what a great job he did and will gladly show off his work.

    Absolutely first rate. Not cheap, but if you want the best in home remodeling, Andy Scott and his father, Roger, is who you go to. Professional, punctual, always on top of things, a delight to  be around. This was a five week project. Andy and Roger did a lot of the work themselves, but they also used high quality subs: flooring, tile, plumbing, cabinet doors, electrical, painting the kitchen cabinets and credenza (CR Painting-not often you can find a painter who does first class work on cabinets). I would have never been able to find and coordinate the level of skilled professionals that Andy did. The project went smoothly from start to finish. I would definitely hire Scott's Home Renewal again -- and I will.

    I called around 3 weeks before the work and they said they would get back to me.  They did about a week and a half prior giving me a couple of options.  The electricians were prompt, quick with the work (it only took about 15 minutes), and very nice guys.  My only complaint is that I was told the hourly rate for the electrician which I felt was very fair.  However, they sent 2 for a pretty small job and so I had to pay the hourly rate for 2 electricians instead of 1.  Again, both were great guys but I'm pretty sure for that small of a job, 1 would have been able to finish within the allotted hour.  If I were to need an electrician again, I would definitely go with them, but I would specify the size of the job and ask for only 1 electrician instead of 2 if it was as small of a job as this was.

    Todd and I worked through email and phone to establish the work and the date.  He was prompt in responding to inquiries.  He and his assitant were on time, attentive to detail, tidy and were careful about material choices.  I did a  lot of pre-construction prep on materials so when we went to the stores I knew what I wanted but also could ask him if the materials would work.    He was honest about his assessments and didn't suggest any changes that didn't seem logical to me.   Whenever I had questions about what we were doing he took time to provide explanations and often asked my input on details.  Great experience.  This gentleman is busy and I certainly understand why!

    Red House Remodeling
    This experience was fantastic.  We have had a couple of pieces of work done on our house, and this was by far the best.  Ben brought his designer in, Jenna, who helped us put together a full design from my initial ideas and thoughts.  They went through and suggested additional touches and helped us find the most cost effective way to get the look we wanted. 
    Ben and Jenna were then every clear about how long it would take for everything to be delivered after we ordered the cabinetry, and they continued to work with the companies to ensure deliveries were made on time.  Ben gave us a schedule in mid January for a one month job, showing which tasks would be completed on each day.  His team appeared on time on the first day, and they stuck to the schedule religiously.  I would go in every day or so and check on things while they were still here, and they were patient and explained everything to me.
    By day 2, we had found an issue.  Our bathroom window had been leaking for months at least, and the insulation and drywall under the window was completely rotten.  The team walked through the damage with me, explained what it would take to fix it, where it would fit into the schedule, and the impact to the overall cost.  They were able to fix the damage without pushing the schedule back, and the total change order was less than $1000. 
    Overall, the bathroom was finished on time, on budget, and is beautiful.  I would not hesitate to use Red House again.  I believe their prices are a bit higher than other vendors, but it's completely worth the money.

    Overall, it went very well as the timing and price estimates were met.  It was a 5 week project that involved demolition, clean-up, re-routing of the plumbing and wiring that had been behind the bulkhead, then installation of new materials.  They were pretty much on schedule start to finish, kept us apprised of the progress, and were very good on the communication front.

    The contract was very detailed but even so, there was still a very slight misunderstanding as to what was included (on our part) as options with the cabinets.  Even though it was our misunderstanding, Case provided the items at issue as a good faith remedy.

    The project was at times very dusty and dirty.  They took measures to minimize the mess and inconvenience daily.  We were without use of our kitchen for most of 5 weeks and they did what they could to make things accessible to us each evening.  We were impressed with the way they cleaned up after themselves each day.

    They used various subcontractors (painting, floor installation, electrical, plumbing) and they were all very professional.  We didn't have to worry about who we had working in our home.

    Case has an employee who specializes in design.  She (Emily) was very helpful as there were many questions where we had choices to make and did not know which way to go.  Her expertise was very valuable on decisions we made as far as color schemes, floor material (bamboo), countertops (granite), sink, faucet, etc.  She also met with us at various supply stores and helped with selections in person on multiple occaisions..

    All the Case employees were friendly, easy to talk to, and knowledgeable as to this project.  It was clear that they were very experienced and knew what they were doing.

    Case owner Ben Trannel was involved all along as the project progressed and was very available for any questions that came up.  He is also very experienced in this field.

    We have and will continue to recommend Case to our friends for remodel projects.

    Initial bid for the project was $8800 and when called to hire him, he said he could start next week and that the project would go really fast. He started the project based on one brief preliminary conversation and didn't take the time to go through the bid with us, and our expectations of the project in detail, asking us questions and confirming he understood what we really wanted. Before we knew it, we were in the middle of the project and the costs kept rising. His bid said pay 1/2 now, 1/2 when project was complete. When we started, he wanted $1000 draw each week until project was complete. By the time we had paid 11,000 dollars, we were 3 mo in and only 1/2 way done. The project took 6 1/2 months to complete because he wouldn't come back and finish the job. We have wire shelving you can buy at any hardware store for $100 inside our closet, which we settled for, just to get done. The bathroom is not the bathroom of our dreams, and it definitely is not worth what we paid for it.
