    Fixed amazingly fast. Some wires were accidently disconnected by some contractors, and the electricians couldn't get it to run despite fixing the wires. The Modern Mechanical technician checks it over, realizes the problem ... and flips the resettable fuse in the furnace. Sometimes it takes intuitive problem solving to fix something easily and quickly--wish the electricians figured that out!

    I've had a customer service agreement with Dorrian for the past six years. Got bids from two other companies with sterling reputations on Angies List, and Dorrian was about $200 less expensive. I've never had issues with Dorrian service before, and this was no exception. They arrived when they said they would, took out the old system, installed the new energy efficient one in about a day and a half. Very professional, courteous and clean. Haven't turned on the heat yet (obviously), but the AC works great and is very quiet. I would recommend them to others.

    Waited over 45 days for appointment, followed up twice more with phone calls to find out when I might expect someone. Person handling call was very rude and unhelpful. Gave up and called another company, they came out next day and repaired to my satisfaction. Additionally requested a quote from other company for new furnace and A/C which I accepted.

    The technician spent nearly two hours cleaning and servicing our air conditioner. We had a Groupon for this, reducing the price considerably, but the technician gave us the same level of service he would have if we had paid full price. He explained everything he did and advised us on the condition of our system, showing us where parts were failing. Because of the age of our AC and furnace, we elected to replace them and are now comparing installers and systems. We met with a sales rep from Schaal the very next morning to discuss Carrier equipment. Still in the evaluation process, but we would feel comfortable buying a new furnace and AC from Schaal.

    There were two guys, One came and finished up for the other because he had a sick wife. You pay for what you get. You could go and get one for a cheap price but I am not sure what kind of quality you would get. I do not worry about them coming into my home.

    They had been servicing our stuff for years. We had a 40 year old air conditioner that they replaced. With the furnace, that was the 3rd furnace in our house. We found out we had a bad heat exchange during a service inspection. It was over 20 years old. The quality of service was excellent. They came out as soon as they could. It could not have been done any faster. There are other heating and air conditioner companies in Des Moines but I have not used anyone else for years.

    We were unable to use the big deal since they didn't want to work on our ac/furnace because of its age (over 20 years old) with dysfunctional parts. So we appreciated that but then when we phoned and emailed to try to get our 99 dollars back since we couldn't use the deal, they played games with us never returning the money. We were finally paid in full back from angle's list who were awesome and very understanding. WIN for angles list LOSE for united heating and cooling
