Carpet Installation reviews in Cedar Rapids

  • Great! The installer was very flexible about leaving walkways for me so I could access my kitchen and not step on any of the tile he had already placed. I'm sure this was a bit of a pain for him but he was gracious about it and very thoughtful.

  • I am ecstatically happy with their work, and am so glad I chose them. Customer service was impeccable every step of the way. They know the right balance between giving the customer guidance when the customer needs it, and telling the customer something's a matter of personal preference when that's the case. Upon completion of the project, everything was clean and pristine. I'm so happy that I occasionally think of sending them an "I still love my new floors so much!!" card in the mail, but then they'd think I'm weird. :-P

  • The carpet installers were excellent and I am still really happy with my carpet. I am a little disappointed in the furniture...I will buy higher quality furniture in the future because it didn't take long for my pets to do significant damage to my new soft and chair...I didn't realize how thin the material was.
As for the date this occured, it was last year, I am just guessing on the date.

  • Everything went pretty good and the guys was helpful until he told me that there was going to be a cost for leveling the floor. At first he told me that it would probably cost around 8-10K just to level the floor (700 sq ft). After we were discussing my options because I simply wasn't going to pay that much he found out that i didn't order the material through Lowes yet and that it was just a measuring job and nothing else. He then said after measuring that it would probably only be 2-3K for the leveling. I definitely will never be contacting this company for future work.

  • The existing basement walls have paneling which Jamie and his crew were able to match. The door frames were stained and varnished to match the existing door frames. The Sun Tunnel skylight in the windowless bathroom looks so good that it could be an original part of the house. All construction messes were cleaned up with the exception of some sawdust in the garage.
The carpenter who built the walls discovered one morning that the sump pump had failed and the floor was flooded. (I had not yet moved in.) They cleaned up the water, removed the damaged carpet and ran dehumidifiers to completely dry the basement before completing the walls. That work plus a new sump pump which they installed accounted for about $1100 of the $5500 total.
One of the four doors was installed opening opposite direction from how I requested it, but that seemed too minor an issue to ask for a correction. It won't cause any problems.

  • VERY WELL -- I could not be happier. Tom helped me pick the correct flooring based on what i wanted for my house. He was very fast in getting an onsite estimate, scheduling the work, following through with how things were going. Any follow-up needs I had were addressed extremely quickly.
The installers, Jerry and Josh Schumacher were AWESOME -- I have had less than satisfactory experiences with other service people, but these guys were everything I could ask for. They had tremendous experience in installing the flooring correctly and in a quality manner. They took great consideration in asking any questions of me, so I knew ahead of time of any potential problems we might encounter (i.e. previous installation leftovers), helped me move furniture that they didn't have to, and they didn't forget ANYTHING. I didn't have to run around and remind them of this or that to be done. I could leave the house and know I could trust them. They were respectful of my property, my time (very prompt), and my cats :-).
I had solicited estimates from a third-party installer from a 'big box' store, who never called me back. I am so glad he didn't, because I turned to Schumacher's and it was the best thing I've done in a long time. I am very grateful to them for making this experience as hassle-free as possible.
When I get my house back in order (I'm slow), I hope to take pictures so others can see how awesome tile linoleum looks throughout a house. My friends and family are already in awe of how great the floor looks (they were skeptical of my idea of putting tile linoleum throughout the house -- they aren't anymore :-)).
I would recommend this company to ANYONE needing any type of flooring assistance.

  • Decided to carpet the basement, approx 500 sq ft. Carpet would cover old floor tile that existed in the basement and had started to fall apart. Installer came out to measure and check old flood tile and was helpful in suggesting repairing old tile and laying carpet over repaired tile. The gal I ordered the carpet from at Randy's was helpful although a little serious and liked to talk in"carpet speak". Being a bit of a carpet novice, I could have used the "carpet for dummies" version. None the less, I found a carpet I was happy with. I will say the gal was quite professional and answered questions appropriately and was available by phone. Given a choice of installers, 1 verses 2 1/2 days for installation (I was assured both were competent people), I took the 1 day installation. I have rave reviews for the installer although I didn't catch his name. He arrived shortly after 8 AM, carried all the carpet and supplies downstairs and started working. He was polite, covered the upstairs carpet to prevent it getting dirty. He was done by 3pm including carpeting the stairs and vacuuming the entire carpet. I am impressed with his skill and work ethic. Overall, I'd say I was quite satisfied with my experience at Randysvand would go there again.

  • We arranged for them to come and measure right away. They came and then scheduled for the install. All of this took just over a week before our new, and beautiful flooring, was installed into our kitchen. They were in and out within a day. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the future. They are an all around A+ team from start to finish!

  • I had about 25 gallons of water pour into the basement due to a leak in the water tank of the main floor toilet while out of town. I had 3 bids and Mr. Ellingson was the only contractor who found I had termites which was a big deal. He gave me a date he could begin and he did honor the start date of the job. He completed the work way above expectations and on time.I would highly recommend DJE Construction. He is licensed and insured.

  • We wanted to replace the worn out carpet throughout our house except for the bedrooms. The quality of the carpet installed previously was not too great ( we're not the original home owners ). We looked around and found a variety of companies that sell/install carpet. My concern was that there was always some kind of gimmick: 'free' pad, 'free' installation ect. I wasn't fooling myself to think that anything would be 'free', it just meant the cost got shifted to other services/materials or the quality was poor. I also did a lot of reading to try and understand what I should be looking for in terms of the types of carpet, how to tell quality, different types of pads ect.

I thought that SCHUMACHER's had a good selection of quality carpets. They were able to answer all of my questions that I've been collecting in my research. Installation went very smoothly and we are very happy with the final result. Compared with our previous carpet, it's like night and day and it feels great. We continue to receive lots of complements from friends and family.
