Do Tire Patches Work?

Tire Buying And Repair reviews in Cedar Rapids

First let me say I have been using 5 Season tires for all my cars for the last 5 years.
6 months ago I took my car in for an alignment and it required some of the suspension to be replaced due to wear. When I took it in this time oddly those exact same parts required replacement but this time on both sides of the front. I was quoted a price for the work. I needed to point out that those exact same parts were replaced on one side only the last time and should be covered under warranty. I was told the parts were under lifetime warranty but the manufacturer and that they would also put in a claim for the labor but since it was past 6 months that the claim may be denied. Originally when I had the first set replaced I had discussed supplying my own parts and just have them install but was told they would not be able to warranty anything so I let them supply the parts. Finally I am told that I will need to pay the labor because the part they purchased and installed failed prematurely. In addition I was told that this had never happened before and that it must be another issue with the car. In addition when I suggested that they should cover the labor I was told that every shop would do the same, which in my experience with several other reputable car mechanics is just plain untrue. The representative then proceeded to become agitated with me and raised his voice which in my opinion is absolutely unacceptable.
while this has not been my experience in the past with this company it is not a good omen.
I will also say that during my last several visits when I had specific tires chosen I was told they could get them but they had stock of another tire, which in my research were rated as far inferior, would be a much better deal. I am not sure if management has changed or if it is new policies but I would steer clear of 5 seasons for anything other than having tires mounted and rotated for the time being.

I have been taking my vehicles to this location for over 7 years now.  They have put on/taken off winter tires for my cars and done additional tire service on my SUV as well.  I can take it in at a moments notice and Adam will take a look to see what the problem is.  If he doesn't know, he gets out the owners manual or looks on line for any additional information to assist him in diagnosing the problem.  Always friendly, always professional and very personable.  Very much like the old service my Dad would have received from the town mechanic.

For starters, tires are one of the better reasons to join. When you combine manufacturer promos with regular low prices, it's tough to beat them. Top brands, careful service and generally on time. (They were a bit slower than they said they'd be but, hey, it was a very busy day.)

I went to Them just today. They were recommended to me from my nephew, who was a race car driver. They always tell you beforehand what the problem is and what is going to cost. Every time I go down there, they would have to put air on them. They replaced all four tires of my car. They are extremely on us and I have recommended them to many people. They are very well known. I've never ever heard of anybody that has gone to them that has spoke negative about them.

d us out into parking lot and told us he was the manager and he was tired of my daughter coming to his business and causing trouble every time she was there. This was the first time my daughter had ever complained about anything, and had in fact recommended them to her friends because up to then, they service had been very good. Never have been treated so badly by any business and have been telling all my friends. Manager's name is Jack.

I needed tires for an older car and called around for prices.  Three other shops suggested I under tire my car.  Eastern Iowa Tire understood my needs and substantially beat other quotes for the same tires.
Recently, I had a flat on another vehicle.  A shop told me I needed 4 new tires.  I only had time to put on two new tires and later called around for prices.  Eastern Iowa Tire once again was substantially lower for the exact same tires.  They ordered the tires for my vehicle and when I went in to have them put on, they were honest and told me I had plenty of tread on my tires to last me until spring.  Saved me money right before Christmas.

I usually take all my vehicles into a specific dealership exclusively for maintenance and repair work (another review for a later date), however I was pressed for time and I did not want to drive the twenty minutes to the dealership just for a possible nail.
I had heard that Five Season's tire on first avenue was quick, reliable and their prices were good. I gave them a call, they said that they did not have many folks in right then, so if I were to arrive soon, they could get me right in.
Sure enough, when I arrived they were quite friendly and were able to get the car looked at right away. Since they quoted me a price of $20 per tire, I went ahead and had them check another tire that had a similar issue, although not as bad.
Twelve minutes later (not kidding - for I was curious how long it would take them and noted the time when they took my keys) he said they had me ready to go. He confirmed the one tire did have a nail - in fact two - and they removed/repaired them. The second tire did not have any nails/etc, but the part of the rim where the seal sticks was quite dirty so they cleaned it up and resealed/filled it back up.
He did ask me if I had bought my tires there...I told him no. I suspect that they do this kind of work for a discount (or free?) if you did buy the tires from them? If so, based on my experience I will definitely be getting a quote from them when the time comes for new tires.

I took one car in with 2 damaged tires and rims.  Though I had to find the rims myself, they obligingly installed a spare tire I had without pushing me to buy a new one.  They also replaced my lug nuts and held my car for the week it took to find rims.  I was astonished the bill was only $140 for a new tire, lug nuts and service.  I had them do an estimate the same day on a second car with a weird rattle.  Turns out the rear brake pad was installed incorrectly.  They fixed this along with my estimate at no charge.  As a woman who is used to being taken advantage of, I am extremely happy with their service.
