I hired Kevin to hang & finish drywall as part of finishing my basement (~110 4x8 sheets). Overall I was pleased with the job. Kevin's strengths are his professionalism and communication. He always told me what he was going to do and when, then he did exactly what he said. He kept me constantly updated via phone and text as to when each phase of the project was going to occur so I could plan accordingly. He subbed out the hanging of the drywall to two guys that only worked a few days and Kevin did the mudding, taping, sanding, and painting over the next 10-12 days. After the job was completed I found two outlet boxes that had not been cut out which I understand is somewhat common for sheetrockers to do. Not Kevin's fault per se, but I recommend following your job closely and pointing out any misses like this so they can be fixed. Kevin did good work, but I'm a perfectionist so I found a few things I'd have preferred be better (mainly final surface finish issues). Kevin was happy to correct the major items (one drywall bulge and an area where the ceiling texture was missed), and I fixed the surface finish issues myself. Kevin told me that it's tough to find all the finish issues on a matte white drywall finish and that after the first coat of paint was applied they'd be easier to see and he'd come back and address if needed. But I'm handy enough that I just fixed them myself rather than involving Kevin. Overall I was pleased with the job and would definitely hire Kevin again for any large or small drywall project.

He was very punctual, detailed, fixed any imperfections that he saw and that we saw and he guarantees his work for a year. We were so impressed that we hired him to paint the trim, doors and walls as well. Again, Mr. Jack was very punctual, easy to get a hold of and got back with me about any question I have had in the last few weeks he has done work for us. Mr. Jack is a very honest man, I trust him to be in my home when I am not there. He quoted us a fair price and stuck by his work. He left with the great looking finished job. I would recommend him to him to anyone and would definitely hire him if needed in the future.

We had our tired looking concrete block foundation walls painted white to brighten our basement space. The walls are porous so they needed to be sprayed to provide thorough coverage. Kevin went to great lengths to cover our belongings in order to protect them from the inevitable over spray created by the application process. The finished project product looked so good we also had Kevin sheet rock and paint a few bare studded walls. We now have a bright space our children enjoy which is comforting with the cold winter months upon us.
Kevin provided professional results in a time and cost efficient manner and we will undoubtedly use him for future projects. A+

Kevin was very responsive and personable, and appeared to be knowledgeable about the drywall and painting industry. His price quote was very comparable to other contractors. Although Kevin did a great job with the drywall - matched new texture to existing texture in corner of kitchen - the patching he did throughout the kitchen/dining was inconsistent and he missed several areas, even after pointing this out several times.

Key areas of complaint - Painting - The trim, wall and ceiling painting performed by Kevin was unacceptable. He did not paint the ceiling, as he stated - the pencil marks from the electrician were still showing, as was a previous water stain on ceiling - and did not even put a full coat of paint on walls. There are more than a dozen areas with paint drips along the trim. Kevin was also supposed to  prime and paint three brand new, unfinished oak doors. He attempted to but did not sand the door, or properly prime, and the paint did not adhere properly. We were very surprised when Kevin said that's the best he could make it.

Although Kevin stated he used tarps to cover our new wood flooring, there was substantial overspray and paint smears - along the entire perimeter of our kitchen/dining room. He only partially calked the trim/cabinets, and partially filled nail holes.

In addition to the unacceptable craftsmanship, Kevin was very disorderly, almost careless and left our home quite messy.

Kevin's attention to detail was poor, certainly not that of a finisher, and he cost us over twice as much as his quote - nearly $2400 - to repair the damage he did.

I would not recommend Kevin for any home improvement work.

The ceiling and wall painting job in our great room was a complex endeavor due to the two-story vaulting of the ceiling in the large open great room and over the staircase. The master bedroom also had its share of intricacy with the large span of cathedral ceiling with a tall narrow hallway leading to the master bath.

Kevin and Ann Jack were efficient and tireless in the multi-day project: punctual to arrive, attentive to detail, always professional and friendly, and helpful with advice on the project, as well as willing to educate us about the best way painting and drywall tasks should be approached.  Their obvious years of experience made a difficult project go smoothly and the end result is simply perfect. We are very pleased with the job Jack Painting and Drywall did in our home and highly recommend them.

I have used Jack's painting and drywall for three separate drywall projects in our home and have been very pleased with the results. I would highly recommend this company based on the following:
The quotes for the work have always been clear, concise and reasonable.
Jacks Painting and Drywall  has always been flexible in finishing the project around our busy family schedule which sometimes required working on the weekend to do so.
Jack's painting and drywall is prompt and professional, no waiting around to see if he is going to show up.
The work has always been first rate and no corners were cut.
Drywall installation or repair is a messy job but our home/job site has always been left clean.
I wish all my contractor experiences were similar!

My husband Ron has a co-worker who recently had his garage finished by Kevin Jack, of Jack Painting and Drywall.  We had been talking about getting it done for quite some time.  When my husband came home from work one day with the name of the company, I smiled, and told him that Kevin was an old friend and classmate from school, and that his dad had been in the business some years ago, so I was already familiar with the name.
We called Kevin sometime around the end of September, and within a couple of days, he was over to look at our project, which was probably the ugliest garage in the world (okay at least in Bettendorf).  We received a written bid shortly thereafter.  In looking over our garage, it was clear that Kevin is very knowledgeable, and made several suggestions we had not even thought of.   He set the expectation that, because of workload, he would probably be able to get to our project in November, and was good about keeping us informed as to when he would be able to start.
On the day the demo took place, Kevin brought his own trailer to haul away the debris.  He was always so good to sweep up any nails and keep the area as clean as possible.  While doing the demo work, it was discovered that the previous owner had camped out a bunch of crappy old doors and junk up in the attic portion of the garage, unbeknownst to us,  since it was covered we had not been up in there to "discover" it.   He helped us haul it out of there, and he hauled it away along with the rest of the old drywall (not really dry wall, but it's predecessor from years ago).    Thankfully, with November weather being what it is, we only had to park in our driveway two nights!  Kevin has a crew of four guys who came and hung the drywall and it was done within a day or so.   He continually stopped by to monitor their progress.  He also has access to an electrician, as well as a fantastic garage guy, Brian Wriedt, of Quality Door Service (and kudos to you, Brian!)   That garage door was a hosed up mess from day one, when we first bought our home three years ago.  Now, it's perfect!
During the entire process, which took a little longer than expected because of weather and the early extreme cold, we talked daily about progress and expectations.   Also during the job, we made a few minor changes (like adding extra insulation, etc.)
and Kevin was very responsive and adaptable to that.  Kevin was also great to point out areas that were just a tad less than perfect and explained why they were (which aren't noticeable anyway).  My point being that he did that before we would "find" anything.  He also installed trim around the doors and window, even running out to purchase another piece when we were short, and did an excellent job with that.
Included with the garage renovation, Kevin was going to take care of the less than perfect floor that needs serious attention. Initially he suggested a product, but later told us that after some research and conversation with the supplier, he did not feel comfortable applying the product because he feared it would ultimately fail, and said that once the weather warms up he will put us in contact with an individual who can help us with that.
Now that the job is complete, we could not be happier with the result.  I think I could almost host something out there, it looks so nice!   I would not hesitate for a moment to recommend Kevin to all of my friends and family and we could not be happier with the end result.

I have been impressed from the first conversation I had with Mr. Jack.  He has been very responsive, detailed, and professional.  He offered suggestions without being pushy and accommodated our schedule and situation, I have been very please with the work performed and would refer him to anyone in need of drywall work.

He did a great job.  Was very responsive to the initial call.  Provided an accurate estimate and accommodated my restrictive time schedule.  Cleaned up each time he was there.

Overall, I think he did a pretty good job and his prices were competitive. He was very friendly, easygoing, and easy to talk to. I felt like he wanted to answer my questions and he didn't make me feel dumb or stupid when I had a question. However, I do think that he didn't pay as much attention to detail as I would've liked. I just think that he needs to pay more attention to detail. If you wanted to look perfect like a magazine, he's probably not the person, but if it's something that's not going to stare you on the face or if you don’t care if it's exactly perfect, he's a good guy to have.
