    Sonntag Roofing LLC
We were SO IMPRESSED with them! Professional in every way from how they dressed when they came out, the job done, to the conversations with the office. The work was completed in less than a day. Everything was clean and sharp in appearance. To top it all off, they were $600 cheaper than their competitors! Don't look anywhere else!

    Des Moines Area Roofing
Unlike the other estimate we got, Tim, the owner of the company came and met with me in person. I was impressed from the beginning with the clear explanations he gave about what type of roof replacement we needed (we have part shingle and part rubber roof) and why. We'd also had some gutter issues in the past, and he and his gutter expert worked with me to be sure we had chosen the best option. The roof / gutter replacements themselves went off without a hitch. What impressed me most about this company, however, was the excellent follow-up service. We had the bad luck to discover high radon levels in the house shortly after replacing our roof, and Tim went out of his way to consult with the radon mitigation company about the types and installation of the two roof vents their workmen needed to install (one through a shingled part, another through one of the sections of rubber roof). How was an average homeowner like me supposed to know that both vents were initially installed either incorrectly or not in the most recommended way (by the other company)? Tim worked with the other company to get the problems corrected. He did not ask for any further compensation for all the consulting, and the local roofers the other company hired to do the work all agreed with Tim's assessment. Great experience!

Big crew of hard workers worked from 7AM to 10PM the first day and 9AM to 3PM the second day and completed all tasks with a careful eye to detail, straightness and quality. At end of job, the crew did complete clean-up of all debris, swept yard with magnet for any roofing nails. All debris was removed from property. Impressive work! This is a father & son team who stress a high level of quality control from their entire roofing crew.

They are very fast, did the house in four days and the roof in one day, Clean up was adequate. Their was a few little things that need to have some attention and Tim sent the crew back out. I supervised so it was done the way I wanted it. Tim subcontracted the stone work out, and they didn't level the top ledge stone, which was out of level three fourth of an inch. I.had then come back and I supervised the job. Tim and Sam are easy to work with and very helpful in helping you decide the correct color combinations and material.. Right before they put the roof on my home, they did a tear off and roof replace on an apartment house I own..Two years before they did tear off and replacement of the porch roof on that building. The cost for the porch was $3,000 and the cost for the building which is extremely steep was $10,000. It has been all most a year on the building and house, and three years on the porch and I have had no leaks. There Warranty is two years, I would prefer 5 years. Although I had to make a few minor adjustments, any inconvenience is more than offset by the savings you receive. Tim stayed with his quote and my roof and siding on my home look great. The apartment building looks nice as well.

    DeWild Exteriors Inc
Roofing your house is a messy process. I was worried about my lawn and what the mess would do to my plants.  The company's owner explained to me they would do everything possible to protect my property when tearing off the old shingles. They did a great job making sure my yard was as clean as possible.  They even took a magnet around my house after they were done to collect nails.  Over all I'm very happy. I did get a few lower bids, but didn't like them as well as DeWild Exteriors. The owner of DeWild was very upfront about any potential problems and communicated very well. Roof and gutters look great! And I would use them again in the future.

    Buresh Home Solutions, Inc.
Originally we thought we needed a new roof. Jason Grassley from Buresh, along with several other contractors provided bids and the Buresh bid seemed very fair. One of the other contractors however suggested our problem could be repaired and the roof did not actually need replacement, but the repair job was too small for it to be worth it for them. I invited Jason back and he agreed to do the repairs. We signed a contract but it was January so had to wait for warmer weather to do the work. Months went by, I tried contacting them once and got no reply. Finally, Jason called (I think it was July) and promised the work would get done in the "next week or two". Weeks go by and nothing.  I called again and he promised to contact his guy and get it scheduled. Nothing. Again I called and we scheduled a time on the weekend for his guy to come. His guy (I think his name was Gilbert) called and couldn't make it due to family issues. We rescheduled for the following weekend. Finally he showed up. I thought he was coming to perform the work but he just looked at the roof and chimney, asked whether materials had already been delivered (which they had not) and promised to call back in the next couple days. Nothing. On and on. Finally, October and I am looking for another contractor. I am mad at myself for letting this string out so long but Buresh has been unbelievable.

    Buresh Home Solutions, Inc.
I believe it went quite well.  Weather conditions were less than ideal for the installation being done in January.  Single digits the first day of work with wind chills at zero to just below.  The second day was warmer in the low twenties, but breezy.  The third day there was a light snow in the morning and the wind was up about 15-20 mph.  Not ideal conditions for window and door installation.  The crew worked rapidly and got all windows in the first day, the doors the second day, and the outside finishing the third day.  My hats off to the crew for working through the cold temperatures three long days straight.  We immediately noticed a reduction in outside noise with the installation of the new double-paned windows and doors.  We could no longer hear the wind howling outside. :)
Sunrise Windows and doors were the reason I ranked quality slightly lower.  The order that we and Buresh placed with Sunrise was not properly fulfilled.  We ordered a sliding door with internal blinds and the door they delivered came without blinds.  Buresh installed the delivered door and will be returning with the ordered door when Sunrise sends them the proper door.
The other reason for a quality lower ranking was the Sunrise window locking lever, and screen retention pegs/clips.  The plastic sheath on one of the locking levers broke, and two of the plastic screen retention pegs broke as I tested each window after installation.  Finally, the Sunrise sliding screen door seems flimzy and does not remain square as it rolls from one side to the other.  It was our choice to go with a Sunrise sliding door.  If we could have afforded them, we might have gone with all Pella products rather than the less expensive Sunrise, but the Sunrise windows seem appropriate for our house and budget.
This was our first experience using Angie's list, and we had not heard of Buresh Home Solutions before using Angie's list.
We had a good experience with Buresh, and we would contact them again for windows and doors.

Gutter crew apparently cannot install gutters straight. The gutters come off the machine straight, but when they are installed, they are curved. If you don't mind gutters with a curve in them, then hire this company.
I asked the company to correct the installation, and they returned twice and worked on two of the gutters for several hours. I finally realized that this crew was not up to the task of hanging gutters in a straight line and stopped asking them to come back.
A strange thing happened in approximately the same time frame as the gutter job. Some time after they were finished, I noticed that three chainsaws and a gas-powered hedge trimmer were missing. I notified the local police and filed a theft report.

    Hedrick Construction Inc
We had some previous experience with Hedrick. Several months ago we called him about a leak. Shawn Hedrick came to the house
the next day, and immediately diagnosed the problem as torn flashing around a vent pipe. No more than 10 minutes later, his workers pulled up to our house to fix it (just before the rain started to fall). This was amazingly fast service, and it saved us from further water damage.
In addition to our previous favorable experience, we had other reasons for hiring Hedrick. After providing us with his written estimate, he came to our home and explained it to us personally. He seemed (and we still believe him to be) very honest and reputable. His reference list of previous customers included several of our colleagues at the university (who confirmed their high opinion of the companys work). Hedricks estimate was comparable in cost to an estimate from DeWild and cheaper than that from Leafguard.
We signed the contract in September, but work did not begin until November. Once the workman showed up they worked efficiently and finished the roofing job within two days. We were called before they started so that we could move cars out of the garage (to allow materials and equipment to be set up in the driveway). The roofing was finished on a Friday. Installation of new gutters did not begin until Monday so we were gutterless over the weekend. Gutter installation also took two days.
The finished roof and guttters look very nice. Clean-up was thorough. The roofers seemed to take extra care in repairing water damaged areas.
We were completely satisfied until we noticed two problems, and then came to realize that Hedrick had not performed an overall inspection of the work to see if things had been properly done. A piece of gutter topper had not been installed, leaving a 2 to 3 foot gap. After complaining, we were later informed that the workers were aware of this and had run out of materials. We had expected someone to come back to complete the installation, but apparently someone dropped the ball. Another problem was an area of the garage roof where the vinyl siding had been damaged while replacing some timber and there was exposed wood.
In spite of these things needing attention before the work was satisfactorily completed, a bill was sent for the total job. While our calls were promptly returned when scheduling the estimate, response was much slower after the work was done. After many attempts to contact them, our call was finally returned and Shawn came to inspect the work. He then called to say that these things would be taken care of within a week. It was in fact two weeks before these were attended to.
In the end, both problems were resolved, and I think we received a good quality roof. The problematic section of siding was not just bent back into shape, but replaced entirely with new material (and a worker came to the house twice to fit and match it). Nevertheless, had the missing gutter topper and the siding problem been in locations not easily observed by us, we suspect that these problems might never have been noticed or repaired. The lack of quality control and final inspection to see that the work had been properly done is a serious concern. We would strongly advise homeowners to require a final inspection by Shawn (or someone other than the work crew) to make sure that work is properly completed.
