I contacted Kurt after reading reviews on Angie's List because I am fairly new to the island. I originally hired Kurt to replace my entire 1st floor with tile but I ended up having him do much more than that. . I noticed right off that Kurt takes a lot of pride in his work and he has tremendous attention to detail. We have walls with rounded corners and he cut the tile perfectly to fit around those corners. We later decided to put in base boards and he again did excellent work around the rounded corners of our walls. He is a very skilled craftsman and is meticulous in his work making sure every tile was laid properly. My project ended up morphing into a larger one as I discovered his many talents. He also did beautiful work on our back splash. He has a great design eye and made some suggestions that really enhanced our downstairs. I would highly recommend Kurt and I would hire him again for projects I may have in the future.

We are in a gated community and crews showed up every day (6 days) on time.  Job included demo, prep, tiling and grouting.  We had 2 - 6 workers on site based upon the daily job.  This included working Saturday and Sunday during the storm to complete all the work.  All removed items were reinstalled and checked.  Every one on the job was top notch and professional.  We hope to use them again.

Their labor rates were competitive but their understanding and presentation of what needed to occur was key to us selecting them.

They did an excellent work. I went with Angie’s List in terms of the rating of other customers in using them. The owner came out and did a free estimate. I have been checking other places on my own for information, but he was by far the most willing to share information and provide you with instructions on what you needed to do to be ready to put this in. He also gave me the name of the company to buy my wood from. He did not solicit the sale of wood which was helpful because he was able to get it for me at a better rate than I was getting it for as a contractor. It was good from start to finish. He did everything he said he was going to do. I had a group of employees out here that were very good too. They moved the furniture and did everything they needed to do. The only thing is after they finished, he was supposed to come back and do a repair on one panel on the floor that looks like somebody dropped something as they were leaving and it was damaged, and they have not been back. That is partly my fault because I have not been able to follow-up as I have been busy and out-of-town.

From first calling James, to him coming over and measuring out the house and giving me a quote, I knew this was going to be a good experience.  James has a professional, and very personal demeanor that makes working with him very easy!
His team got started the next week, and James was available at all times of the day for any questions I had.  The installation team was prompt, thorough, and very considerate of the fact that we were living in the house during the installation.  They cleaned up very well every day, and worked as late each day as was necessary to get the work done.  The installation was completed in the time originally quoted, and every detail was attended to.
We did all of the demolition ourselves, bought all the materials (baseboards, Pergo, and transition pieces).  James was amazing about being available anytime I had a question during my shopping, and was also great about keeping my budget in mind when making recommendations.
I would highly recommend Prime Pacific Wood Floors to anyone who is interested in a floor renovation.

    pros:
James was very friendly and punctual. His employee's Installed 1000sf glue down hardwood floors in just 5 days. James was never really around to oversee anything. but I'm assuming this is common with most contractors? maybe?
    cons:
Employees put a couple of dents in my new fridge. At first they denied they did it until I pointed out the dent was the same height as my countertop. This is a brand new house I just moved into a few days before they came to install the wood. They actually had the nerve to measure the height of the countertop then measure the height of the dent to confirm it was their fault. Once they realized it was their fault they were apologetic. I found another small dent in my freezer a few days later but I didnt bother trying to convice them to fix it since I couldnt prove they did it, though I know they did since this is a brand new home!
one employee started prepping/sanding my concrete subfloor without covering any of my furniture or kitchen cabinets so I had cement dust everywhere!!! after about an hour of grinding/sanding they decided to cover everything but it was too late there was dust everywhere.
they did a half a** job cleaning up the dust so I spent half a day wiping down my walls/doors/furniture. I'm not one to complain so I didnt mention it.
Found numerous 1/16" gaps in the floor.........He used colored silicone to fill them in
a Couple of planks sound hollow when I walk on it so I had James come and fix it. I thought he would rip out the planks and replace it. His solution was to drill small holes in the brand-new floors and fill with epoxy. It worked no more hollow sound but now I have  about 5 small holes which were poorly filled with some type of wood filler in my brand new flooring. Not happy about that at all........ He said this was the correct way to fix this issue. No the correct way would have been to replace/re-glue the planks since the floor was not level. His employees should have filled in the low spots like I was told they would do during the leveling process.
Overall I love my new floors James was quick and punctual but he did not live up to the hype on Angie's list.. If you run into any issues like I did be prepared for a cheap quick fix versus a proper fix. I'd rate his work a 7/10 at best. Great price but just average workmanship. I guess you get what you pay for.

I contacted Kurt after reading reviews on Angie's List and having a few encounters with contractors from some of the major tile suppliers on the island (Home Depot/Lowes).  I scheduled an estimate with Kurt a few days after contacting him and he made measurements and suggestions about picking the tile, grout color, and gave me a timeline of how long the job would take.  I let Kurt know when the tile arrived and only 4 days later he started he job.  He has a lot of knowledge about how the tile will look when it is on the floor and that helped us make some decisions about the pattern, the wall color, and baseboard choice before he began.  We chose not to use a baseboard and the walls in the living room/kitchen have rounded corners.  Kurt cut the tiles to match the contour of the walls and the result was beyond what we expected.  The job, about 500 sq.ft., was done in approx. 5 days, he was on time every day, he cleaned the work area daily, his estimate was what he charged us, and we have had nothing but compliments on our floor since the job was done.  We are very happy with our investment in a new tile floor (replacing worn laminate and carpet) and will definitely use Kurt on our future renovations.  I hope our experience helps you.

When Kurt came to the house to discuss tile installation, he was very prompt and courteous.  He measured everything, give us an estimate and a list of supplies that he would need.  He even recommended specific brands and the best stores to purchase them.  It was agreed at that time that we would remove all existing flooring (carpet, tile, linoleum) prior to his arrival to help decrease the cost.  The week prior to installation, Kurt came by the house a second time to answer some questions we had.  During what should have been a quick visit he took the time to help us cut all existing door trim to fit the tiles, determine the exact placement of a large mosaic medallion we had purchased for the entryway, and even left us tools to help us with removing our old flooring.  From the first day of the installation to the last he was always prompt, courteous and kind.  Every evening he cleaned up any construction mess made during the day.  He had no problems with us asking lots of questions and was always willing to explain things.  In fact, he asked us how we would be installing baseboards, made recommendations on the process, and even demonstrated the best technique in a small closet.  And best of all, the installation was completed a few days ahead of schedule.  We are very impressed with his quality of work and professionalism and will be using his services again in the near future.
