Painted interior and refinished hardwood floors.
Failed to complete the job, but succeeded in cashing my checks. Failed to leave the job site at least as clean as he found it. Failed to respond to my requests to correct the following problems: Left paint on brand new ceiling fans, brand new dishwasher, kitchen sink, counters and kitchen floor. Failed to paint vent covers. Removed vent covers and failed to replace them. Removed light fixtures and failed to replace them. Removed mini-blinds from 8 windows and failed to replace them. Removed curtains from kitchen and dining room windows and failed to replace them. Removed window locks and failed to replace them. Left significant amounts of sanding dust on various surfaces. Left vinyl flooring adhesive on kitchen floor. I first contacted Wendell about these issues when I went to the house in May (the house was empty and I am out of state). He sounded quite upset that "My instructions were not followed." and "I will take care of it. You have my word." After 4 months, several phone calls and emails, nothing has been corrected. Each time I spoke to Wendell he promised to go to the house the next day and finish the job. He also promised to call me back when the problems were corrected. As of this writing he has done nothing and it is clear that he does not intend to. He knew that I was out of state and that it would be difficult to hold him accountable (I'm just getting started). Before I hired him, I asked for and contacted two or three references that he provided. They spoke in glowing terms about Wendell and went into great detail about how satisfied they were with the numerous jobs he had done for them. That was definitely not my experience.
