Handyman reviews in Smyrna

    PK Masonry
Excellent work. Pete responded promptly to my initial inquiry, came out ASAP to provide an estimate on the cracked step (and on a bigger "dream" project I've been thinking about), explained what had likely caused the damage, and gave me several options for either replacing the step just as it had been, or upgrading a little bit depending on my price range. His recommendations were good, and we didn't feel pressured at all, but the full reshaping of the step into a rounded one was a bit outside our budget so we took him up on enlarging it by several inches instead. Overall, Pete was friendly and professional, and had that air of experienced competence that you look for in someone doing work on your house. I didn't even bother getting a second estimate. I did, however, call a good friend who has worked in the brick industry for years, and he assured me that the price Pete quoted was right in line with what he would expect for my project if you want it done right. When I gave Pete the green light, he scheduled the work promptly, showed up in the morning on time a few days later, and knocked the whole project out by that same afternoon. Put simply, the step looks great. It was done promptly, in line with our budget and at the price Pete originally quoted, and our whole experience with him was easy and hassle-free. The new brick color is matched perfectly with the old brick (absent a decade of wear and tear obviously), as is the cement, and it is clearly quality construction. In sum, I would highly recommend PK Masonry to anyone, and I will definitely use him again if I can ever convince my wife to let me pull the trigger on that dream project I've been thinking about...

    Atlanta Custom Construction
DO NOT HIRE ATLANTA CUSTOM CONSTRUCTION! I have never met any one like this. After the work he did on my house was complete he asked me to leave him some reviews. After four days here sends me this: "I felt sure; from your statements; that you would follow through with the reviews that you said you would put in. Is it just something younger people do: say whatever comes in their mind, at the moment, with really zero conviction to do what they say they will do? That's a question and a statement. I went through 3 different bids with you, changing the wording to Your Specifications, did the job to exactly what I stated I would do; even talked you out of the extreme vapor barrier system you wanted to put in. I just don't get it. Do as you wish, but understand exactly what I'm thinking. Good luck in your future projects. You'll need to watch over them if the past is any indication." How rude? Who emails that to someone after 4 days? Especially after you know the review would have been positive... See attached image of the actual email. Do not do work with someone who tries to bully you into leaving reviews. That's unethical and honestly I had never seen anything like it.

Kevin Warren Do It All Handyman
I sold my house and the house inspection turned up a few issues with my deck and two of my toilets. I was struggling to find someone to do the work in the limited time I had to fix the issues. Among the handymen that either didnt return my call, or no showed appointments, Kevin was the one that came through. He was able to come the next day with Tony and review the work that needed to be done. After looking at the issues with my toilets he determined I needed a plumber and put me in contact with one. He and Tony worked around my schedule and got the work done on the deck. They were easy going and professional. If Keven cant do the work, hell be honest about it and get in touch with someone he trusts to do the work. I definitely recommend him as a handyman!

    At Home Handyman Services
If i could give zero stars i would. I requested a quote to paint and patch a hole in our ceiling. I was quoted for $300 and that they would try and match as close as possible. When they were working on the repair i noticed the color was very different from my ceiling. They said it would dry white. The next morning i woke up and the color was clearly not white. They are trying to charge an additional $100 now for them to come out and paint. What a horrible company.

    Gray Tile & Remodeling
Derrick & his crew are fantastic. I know it can be rare to hear people say they had a "good experience" with their contractor for a big project like this, but working with Derrick- you will see. All of the reviews are spot on. We did a total renovation of our master bathroom: new floor, new cabinets & countertops, new shower, took out a garden tub & replaced with freestanding tub, etc. When he was done with our master, we loved it so much we went ahead and booked him for our 2nd guest bath remodel. Derrick was so helpful and patient with us as this was our first big reno we have ever done. The crew arrived right on time every day, and worked FAST. Our neighbors (and we) couldn't believe how fast our project was done. When everyone else quoted us 6-8 weeks for our bathroom, Derrick & his crew did it in almost 2 weeks. His cabinet guy is great as we needed custom cabinets for the layout of our bathroom (tough angles, etc). Very competitive on pricing for everything, and good suggestions to help you keep in budget. They came back to fix finishing touches and made sure we were completely satisfied with how everything looked in the end. Can't thank them enough for a great experience overall and two beautiful new bathrooms! (Before & after photos attached)

    Handy Husband
The company walked out on the job and refused to continue after only completing one of the 5 items. They said it was due to the fact the work we had contacted for them to do was taking them longer than expected and it was no longer profitable for them. Poor weather slowed progress on the outdoor portion of the job. They never began the interior work. I gave them a deposit before starting. After they walked off before they finished the job, the manager implied they intended to charge me more - even though they walked off before completing the job.

Very poorly. Things started well in the planning stage. When it came to doing the actual work on my property, things went south. After doing only 20% of the job, they walked off the job and refused to continue due to the fact it was taking longer than expected, they were not making the amount of profit expected and it was preventing them from getting more lucrative jobs. I paid them 33% of the agreed upon cost and sought only the work they were contracted to do. They walked away without doing the kitchen or the deck. After they left, they asked me to pay them more money for the small amount of work they'd done. And, threatened to put a lien on my home if I didn't pay them. Obviously, I won't hire or recommend them again. (Note: When I told him I might have to give them a bad review on Angie's List, he said he didn't care.)

Kevin Warren Do It All Handyman
Kevin was outstanding! He advised me on the type of paint needed, helped me choose my color, and and completed the job in the promised time. He was punctual, professional, and extremely polite. He took his time with every detail, and it shows. My driveway and walkway look terrific. He does all kinds of painting on the exterior of homes and specializes in drywall on the inside as well.

    Irish Electric Inc
This 'deal' was for two hours electrical work for x$. Upon starting with the fan he advised me that a fan install usually took him about one hour. Upon completion, he took the basement door fixture downstairs and returned shortly, telling me that we'd have to pay for another hour (at $92 per hour) if he was to do the installation at the basement door. Well, what was I to do but agree to pay the extra charge. My mistake was not accurately charting time of arrival etc. The service tech was on time and very (maybe too) talkative. My only complaint is, I feel that both jobs could have been completed within the 2-hour "deal" time.
