    Coughlin Construction
I just got my bid for building a new home from Ron and I am Sooo excited!! Other contractors told me I'd NEVER get my house built for the amount of money I had available. That I was nuts! But Ron's bid just came in much lower than others. I can't wait to get to the bank and get started. So far, he has been very professional and punctual. He is quietspoken yet personable. I feel he can be trusted.

    TLC Handyman Services
Terrible. I hired Tim Collins, aka TLC Handyman services, to do work on my back porch and master bath. I needed skylights removed and the roof over my back porch repaired. I contacted Mr.Collins one week after completion because I saw water leaking in my bathroom. Mr. Collins "said" he came out, (while I was at work) sprayed my roof with the hose and found no leaks so most likely "the shingles just hadn't sealed yet". Rained a couple more times, I would hear water dripping from the sealing into my bathtub. Sent Mr.Collins pictures and told him I thought it was still leaking. He said he would see if he could get the roofers to come check it out. A month goes by, nothing from Mr.Collins. Now comes October and we have to evacuate due to hurricane Matthew. I left it alone for a while just out of consideration for Mr.Collins and knowing with the damage around Savannah he was probably pretty busy. Parts of Savannah had some pretty bad damage but my neighborhood was virtually untouched. Not so much as even a tree limb in my yard when we returned home. Towards the end of November I texted Mr.Collins and reminded him that I was still waiting. What happened next blew me away & astounded me. When I contacted Mr. Collins he acted as if he didn't know what I was talking about and blamed the hurricane. He said, "the hurricane probably blew a few shingles off." I told him no, I didn't think that was the problem because the problem was there before the hurricane. He then tells me he wished he had known about it prior so that he could have the roofers cover it under warranty. (??!??) I reminded him that I contacted him 1 week after completion. I reminded him of the photos I sent. He completely ignored me saying that part and went into a tangent about the hurricane blowing the roof off of every house in Savannah and how now I'm trying to blame him for the damage to my home. (Wow!) He proceeded to tell me "what I needed to do was file with my insurance company and hire someone to fix it". This man is a crook. Never again will I support a small business when it comes to my biggest investment; my home. Especially not this man. You hear of horror stories but I guess you never really think that there are enough terrible people in this world that you will have a personal experience. The photos I posted are the same photos I sent to Mr.Collins. I don't believe he ever came back out to look at the terrible job he did. He got his money and didn't care about the quality of the job. My neighbor had some work done by Mr.Collins as well, when I was telling him of my experience he told me that he wished he had known I hired Mr.Collins because he had to hire someone to redo the work that Mr.Collins did for him, too. Coincidence? I think not..

    Savannah Roofing and Siding
As advertised, person answered phone. In response to my inquiry this roofer said he didn't want "to mess with the siding 'cos he'd have to order it and that would take time" but said he could fix the roof. When I reiterated that I needed both done he said, "Thanks for calling," and hung up.

    Vinyl Industries of Savannah
Very good. Worked with me on scheduling so it was no interference to my work. Did what they said they would do. Did it when they said they would do it, Very happy with job they did. I would have liked to have cut maybe 500-1000 bucks off the job but was happy to spend the extra for the quality of work and professionalism.

    Steve Sullivan Siding & Windows
Mr. Sullivan and his team did a very professional job installing vinyl siding on our home. His estimation quote was pretty much spot on and he gave good feedback when we did the initial walk around to describe what we wanted done. He was there every day with his team to complete the work (weather permitting). When he found a problem the wasn't covered during the original walk around he called with a recommendation and cost so there were no delays. Every day the team did a clean up prior to finishing for the day so there was no mess for us to look at each night or over the weekend. Nice bunch of down to earth guys, I would use or recommend them to our friends.

    Horton Remodeling
First to last John Horton and his team are truly exceptional!  If you are looking for someone that you can depend on to do a first class job for you Horton Remodeling is the right choice.  John is a complete professional as are all of his men.  He very quickly scheduled an appointment to give me an estimate on the job.  He arrived with a clip board, examined all the work to be done and was able to provide us with a detailed estimate within 24 hours.  His estimate was not the least expensive of the three that we had requested but it was certainly the most thorough and it specified two coats for all of the painting whereas other painters specified only one. Also, it was obvious from the start that his attention to detail was much more comprehensive. As it turns out, based on the amount of time and expertise that Horton Remodeling spent on the job, we are convinced that his pricing is very competitive.
John and his team showed up exactly on the date that we had agreed upon and they stayed on the job, without interruption, until it was completed, totally to our satisfaction.  Our home was built in 1879 and is located in the Downtown Historic District, this means that not only are parts of it very old, requiring extra labor, but also any changes that are made need to be reviewed by the commission and any replaced shutters needed to match those that were being replaced.  With 22 windows and 22 pairs of shutters, not to mention three sets of french doors and, numerous decorative corbels around the roof line the scraping and painting process was extremely labor intensive.  The shutters required extensive scraping, priming and repainting.  Some new shutters had to be obtained and John actually had new ones altered so that they matched, exactly, the existing ones.  Throughout four weeks of on site work his painters and carpenters were polite, respectful, careful and most important -- very skilled in the execution of their work.  They refused to re-hang the shutters until they were absolutely sure that they were as perfect as they could get them.  Likewise, they painstakingly repainted the french doors three times because they were not absolutely pleased with how they looked. Every day they arrived early ready to work and when they left at the end of the day their equipment was carefully stowed away and every work area was swept clean.
The attic stair replacement was complicated by the fact that the existing old stair had broken and we had it sealed within the drop down door until it could be repaired.  John's men showed great creativity, as well as courage( they had to stand on ladders above the staircase without knowing if the existing stairs might fall on them), in dislodging the old stairs, removing them without causing further damage (to the antique staircase as well as two crystal chandeliers which complicated the project).  They also showed skill and creativity in installing the new stairs.  Since we had them working in that area already we also had them paint the hallway as well -- their interior painting is equally as good as their exterior work.
During this project our garage door, old and worn out, broke.  Without realizing that Horton Remodeling could have replaced it I mistakenly called a garage door specialist.  They came out and did a very poor job replacing the door.  John, and some of his team members, were able to explain to us what was wrong with the installation (just kindly sharing their knowledge) and we were then able to get a new door installed correctly.  Clearly, they could do a wonderful job with garage doors as well.
First to last Horton Remodeling was A+++, it is so good to know that there are professionals out there that you can absolutely trust to do an excellent job for you.  We still have a couple of other projects that we intend to call them in on, obviously they are qualified to do just about anything in the remodeling arena.  May they stay in business forever, we will sleep easier at night knowing that whatever help we might need with this truly loved but antique home, we have this reliable resource to call upon.

    Horton Remodeling
The Horton Remodeling crew did a very good job. They were able to go under the house to repair the subfloor and joists without ripping up all the hardwood floor. The carport area was handled well, with the posts cut down to the concrete pad and filled with cement, and the spa pump shed was removed and new siding attached that closely matches what was on the house. When one of the jobs ran more quickly than expected, they reduced the cost!

    CGB Roofing & Renovations
Monday May 6, 2013 : Mr. Charles G. Brown, came to my home, 612 Rivers End Drive, Savannah, GA 31406. He indicated he was provided my name and need from an internet service, which I though was Angie’s List. He knew that I was looking for estimates on installing 3 skky lights in my home. He was very friendly and seem to be knowledge. One of the things I was suspicious of was the fact that he began telling me what other work needed to be done and that he could do it all at the same time. Please note than in the original “Quote”, he indicated that there was am need to, “remove approx.. 4 square of singles above bedroom &m dining room areas. And install ice water shield in valleys above the dining room, living room, & bedroom areas, install 40’ of ridge vent above main rige of the house. This must have not been really need as he change the work and was doing: no shingles or ice water shield above the bed room, The ridge of the main hose already had a ridge cap, and he never install a ridge cap any where on the building. He did however replace a piece of 5/8 inch plywood on the gable end above the bed room, which I later did not need to be replace.   The referenced lattice awing above the driveway to Carriage house, was in fact only laid on a 2 x 4 frame which tok all of about 30 minutes to take down, and there was no caulking &seal done. The Garage/Shop building he did have one of his workers flow the leaves and debris off, but left a hole open to the elements which he pointed out to me. I’m not sure if his many or a limb falling bent the time out of shape but he did not fix it.   Tuesday May 7, 2013: He and his men had a very lack daisy concern about their workmanship, and how they left the work site. They would leave the paper wrappers around the shingles, laying all over the yard, I found nails and screws in the grass, there were the cups and cans they drank beverages out of left in places they had used them in. And Mr. Brown even stood around the back of his truck drinking beer and smoking which they also left residue in the driveway. They showed up to work between 0930 and 1100 , and left the work site between 1500 and 1600 daily.  They didn’t have time to clean up and police the area they worked in, but they had time to stand around drinking beer.  I know that I was not paying by the hour parse, but in the scheme of things he was basing his compensation on the number of many hours it took to complete the job.   Wednesday May 8, 2013 and all the days he and his crew came to the job site was a repeat of Tuesday  It just got worse, when I would call his attention to something he would respond he would handle it, or take of it. Finally when he came to me on Thursday, May 16, 2013, asking for another advance I began to realize I was sinking my money into a bottomless money pit.  He was going to charge the way he did this to get as much money from me as he could. I talked the problem over with some men who own similar businesses and I was told what I expected, that if the man need money up front the was a phony, and stop the job before I lost any more money. He had $6,500.00 of a job at completion as quoted $9,700.00 and was going to keep shaking his honest hard working skilled workers a bad name and I fell should be listed and posted on every site that has anything to do with building, repair ,or renovation as  a fraud and dishonest man. This man left a hole in my ceiling, opening into the attic where all the heat collects nd causes the bed room to be hot as well very hot, all the dust and insulation particles that all in the attic suddenly become airborne and drift into my bed room  and cover my bed. The skylight was started the first day of the job and after  14 days had not been completed. I had to cut cardboard and tape into the hole so I could sleep with out insulation fibers sharing my be with me.

    All Around The Home Improvements
I was very impressed with them. So much so, I have already had them come out to another property of ours to pressure wash it. I will use them again, as I have several rental properties.

Overall experience was good, professional quality work. Did have to follow up with corrections to work done, but was
handled quickly and handled first hand by contractor. Price was probably high, but I knew I was paying for
    quality work and repair.
