  • I have personally used Georgia Pack & Load three times and twice for work. My personal moves required multiple locations and even a piano. Each time I compared their prices to at least two other moving companies and each time their prices were best. I have had wonderful service each time. Each time their staff arrived exactly when promised or I got a call with adjusted arrival time. Their staff is always professional and nice. They are very accommodating and go above and beyond expectations. My daughter is about to move into her first apartment and I told her to call Bruce at Georgia Pack & Load with complete confidence that she will be taken care of and her move will go smoothly. I highly recommend Georgia Pack & Load.

  • I'm in love again with my table, you would never know it had been so severely damaged by the movers. You can't even tell where a new trestle bar had to be made, the finish is matched beautifully with the original coloring. The legs and backing our stronger now then when I purchased the table. I am so pleased, they were honest with their explanations of what they could do; they delivered exactly what they said they would do, they explained in detail the work required and had the table ready in a timely fashion. I have a couple of other pieces that I would like refinished, will definitely give it to them to do. They kept to the estimate they made; it was well worth the expense.

  • If I could give him an A+ I would. He expertly tuned my piano. It had not been tuned for so many years that he had to leave and return a few hours later to complete the job. The strings would have broken if he had tried to tune it during the first trip. I was just so pleased with the level of service. Not only that, he was so friendly and fun to talk with!

  • My cooktop of 30+ years was finally giving out, so I decided to replace it and the ventilation hood.  I did a lot of internet research, so had an idea about what I wanted and what prices were like, then I went to Sewell to see their showroom and see if I could finalize a decision.  Mr. Sewell himself greeted me as I came in the door, then handed me over to a salesman who showed me some options and worked up some pricing.  At no time was there a hard sell.  In fact, even though he gave me his card, he didn't even ask for my phone number or e-mail address.  But he did give me product printouts and other info I would need.
    After my visit, I decided on what I wanted and called the next business day to place the order.  I joked that Home Depot was $2 cheaper on one of the items, and the salesman immediately offered to match that price.  I was told it would take about a week to get the items, but it was more like 3 days.  I picked up the items myself and was thanked about 12 times for my business.
    After I got the items, I had some questions (thought some parts were missing), so I called the store and was helped by a very pleasant and patient gentleman. 
    In summary, I'd say they were professional and quick and competitively priced.  They prefer to sell the high-end stuff, but seem even more focused on doing what's right for the customer and were perfectly happy to sell me mid-grade merchandise.  I'd be inclined to check them out next time I'm in the market for appliances.

  • Brian was great. He returned my initial call with in 2 hours and set an appointment with me. He called the day before the appointment to reconfirm. He arrived on time. Was friendly, polite, professional and well-dressed. He explained what he was going to do, then set to work. I would definitely use him in the future.

  • We mapped out the design, he sent over drawings for approval and kept us up to date on the progress even sending pictures.  Floyd also did a nice job working with the company we contracted to install our entertainment system to ensure the components fit and there was proper air flow.  The job went off on schedule and as planned although with any custom work there were a few hick-ups that we worked through nicely.  Thanks Floyd!

  • I shopped around for price and reputation, using Angie's List. I was surprised by how hard it was to search for movers who actually had reports based on moving a piano (as opposed to movers who simply list "piano" as something they will move.  I priced four companies that had As on Angie's List and were within 15 miles of me.  Each wanted to send 4 men because it was a baby grand and each wanted to charge 180 an hour and use 2.5 hrs as the base. And each wanted to give me a window for showing up since they would be only moving one thing.

    Pianoworks moves pianos exclusively, so I expected their estimate to be higher.  It was only $300, they insisted that properly moving my piano would take only 2 men, and they would give me a precise start time.  I called on Monday, and booked for that Friday at 10 am, and asked to be called 30 minutes out so I too could go to the pickup location.  The phone booker took the info about my piano, the steps on both sides of the move, asked about other obstacles, and was able to give me a firm quote. 

    On moving day, they called 30 minutes out, arrived on time, were utterly professional, moved some furniture for the piano seller (that was not in the job description I gave them), and loaded it using professional, PIANO BASED moving equipment.  I cannot stress this enough - this job was efficient and thorough because these men knew exactly how to do it.  They had a truck with a hydraulic lift, they had the correct sized dollies with padding in the correct (piano - specific)  places, and they anticipated everything they would need.  The job only needed 2 men. 

    They wrapped the piano beautifully, delivered it with no damage, reconnected it (better than it had been), DID NOT try to upsell me on tuning (which many piano movers do, even though a piano should sit for a few weeks at the least before it is retuned). I have 2 dogs and small children and felt extremely comfortable with these men in my home.  I tipped both men $30, about 20% of the cost of the move, which I felt was appropriate since they were courteous, called early, showed on time, asked me all of my preferences, answered questions about floor treatment, and were extremely good at their jobs. 

    I do not give "As" on angie's list for ok work.  These guys deserve the grade.  I would recommend them to anyone.

  • I cannot speak to their moving/tuning skill. I saw a craigslist listing for a kimball baby grand in black gloss for $1500 with a photo of a black gloss piano.  I called and specifically asked if this piano was digital and was told it was not.  When I drove 40 miles to see the piano, I was told that the 1500 Kimball is brown wood, that the glossy black baby grand is a digital.  When told of the posting discrepancy and phone call, I was told that they have too many listings to keep up with it all and know which piano is being discussed.  This is a problem.  Although the price was (I now believe) too good to be true and the owner was courteous to us, this advertisement/phone call incorrect information was at best unprofessional and at worst intentionally misleading.

  • This is the first time I have used a company for a long-distance move.  I was not impressed with the way the "major" van lines were responding to my inquiries or follow-up and I found Hercules on Angie's List.  Gerard was responsive over the phone and was very thorough when he came to quote.  He pointed out some ways to save money and also mentioned some tips for the moving process.  Hercules also offers a nice service - they will haul away donations or junk prior to the move - we had a few items we wanted to donate and they were heavy and upstairs so this was a nice added service that is just included in the move price.  I had many questions leading up to the move date and he was very helpful and responsive.  

    Moving day arrived and they showed up on time and got busy packing right away.  I was impressed at how careful and professional they all were.  Small touches - like not packing ALL of the paper towels (knowing we would need some later) were nice.  I've heard stories of people having EVERYTHING packed with no common sense whatsoever on the part of the packer.  What I liked most about Hercules was that they would plan according to our needs - we told them when we wanted our items to arrive and they worked according to that schedule.  Most other movers seem to give a multi-day window so you could be waiting for 3 days not knowing when you will have your possessions.  It was also nice to know in advance who would be driving our stuff down to Georgia and unloading (rather than subcontracted helpers in the destination city).  Friday was an all-day pack and they were ahead of schedule so Saturday was mostly truck loading and we agreed to depart a day early for Sunday morning delivery.  The truck size was under-estimated so they rented an additional trailer to hitch to the truck but that was also not quite enough so a few boxes + bikes had to be left behind with the commitment that they would be brought down later that week.  The truck was packed very tightly to ensure things would not shift around.  I felt very confident that our items were in good hands.  At the conclusion of the loading, we paid Hercules in full (I would have preferred to pay after final delivery).

    Delivery was on time according to the schedule we discussed with Hercules.  While the packing and loading process involved anywhere from 4 to 7 Hercules employees, the delivery and unloading process was with only two guys so I helped with some of the unloading.  It took several hours.  The guys unwrapped the mattresses and set up the beds.  They also asked where everything should go with nearly every item they brought into the house (unless it was obvious).  I asked for them to help unwrap and set up the TV and they were happy to help.  This was on Father's Day and they were still planning the 9+ hour drive back to VA after unloading.

    As we unpacked over the following days, we discovered some areas that could have been handled better.  For example, there were items from the master closet that were dry-clean only and these were not put in wardrobe boxes so they were very wrinkled when we unpacked.  I think Hercules was trying to save us money by not using too many wardrobe boxes but if I had to do it over again I would be certain that they took care to hang up important items and not worry about hanging up cotton pants or polo shirts (which were in wardrobe boxes).  There was damage to the dial/knob on our washer and to a nice clock that had not been properly padded before wrapping (this clock should have been boxed).  Although the insurance deductible is $500, Gerard has offered to cover the repair costs.  We still can not find our cuckoo clock (we packed and moved many important items in our own cars but I did not do this with the cuckoo clock and in hindsight I wish I had).  Also, I am not sure how a piano is to be moved - it seemed that they knew what they were doing but the piano book-rack was inside the top of the piano and I wouldn't think that is typical for a piano move - it did not seem to do any damage to the piano but in the future I will research proper ways to prep and move a piano and watch over the process more closely. Despite these few incidents, I feel we had a pretty successful move.

    The remaining boxes and items that did not fit on the initial delivery were to be delivered later that week so I had expectations that we would hear from Gerard within a few days to give us a specific time for delivery.  I had to call a few times to find out when they would be delivered.  The issue with these items was that they were combined with another clients move to the coast of GA so we did not have control over when they would arrive.  Hercules (when loading the truck back in VA) made sure we were OK with what was being left behind so it wasn't anything critical but it was frustrating that we did not have things delivered according to what was agreed.

    Overall, I am happy with Hercules.  Their quote was slightly higher than the other companies' quotes but I really felt it was worth paying a bit more to ensure careful handling and personal attention.
