    Great Expressions Dental Centers

AVOID AT ALL COSTS: In February 2015 I had a crown put on by Dr. Nardos Benton. I was charged $800+, which is expensive for the Atlanta area. Over the course of the next year, I had routine x-rays done, the only thing I was told was that I needed 3 new crowns due to hairline fractures. Because of the high cost, I decided to change insurances and with that, found a new dentist. My first appointment included a full exam. I had already told her I need 3 crowns. Upon completion of the exam, my new dentist informed me that I had no need for any new crowns, there were no hairline fractures. However, she did tell me the crown I got in 2015 was put on incorrectly, leaving a gap which would cause gum problems. Keep in mind, Great Expressions had taken x-rays since the crown, so either they were incompetent in not seeing the gap on the crown or unethical if the saw it and said nothing either way, horrific service.  After numerous calls to the Roswell and Corporate offices and threatening to sue them, they finally agreed to have Dr. Benton replace the crown. To make a very long story short, between January 2016 and June 2016, Dr. Benton tried 3 times to replace the crown, but could not get any of them to fit properly. Finally, after numerous calls, threats of a law suit and screaming at them in front of patients in the office lobby, they issued a refund (which I had originally requested, but they refused). Prior to all of this trouble, I never checked their reviews. When I did check them, I found my exact story, but with someone elses name. Great Expression is a scam company that prays upon people with poor or no insurance. Not only did the falsely try to sell me 3 crowns I didnt need, they also scammed me into buying a mouth guard, which I also didnt need. It seems more like a flea-market for dentists vs. a healthcare practice. I have seldom seen the same dentist twice and the only thing anyone was interested when I needed the replacement crown was which dentist would pay for it. I feel this is the case, as during one of my many trips to the Roswell office to get replacement crown another dentist, who was very rude, Dr. Firas Yosif, refused to treat me after they took off the temp crown because he couldnt get paid for it their office staff (which are nice, but always incompetent) had scheduled me for a day that Dr. Benton was not there. Not only did he refuse treatment, when I explained I had contracted services with Great Expressions, not an individual dentist, he also lied to me. When he finally tried to put on the replacement crown (which didnt fit), he told me he took a new mold, which he didnt.  My husband also used Great Expressions, the Marietta office. Yesterday, he went to his new dentist, and they told him the crown Great Expressions put on him about 2 years ago, was put on wrong. Based upon my experiences and others with Great Expression, it is my opinion that they work with poorly trained dentists that are probably not in a position to establish their own practice or join a good practice. In summary, Great Expressions overcharges for services, they are incompetent, and most likely unethical. Should you have an issue, the corporate office will not stand behind their company, at best, they will make you deal directly with the dentist that did the work. If Great Expressions is the only facility your dental insurance has (which was my case), change insurances. They should be avoided at all costs!

    Alpharetta Family Dental
Went well with Dr. Leafe- he is thorough and explains what needs to be done and why in terms of long term dental health.  The staff did not have my follow up appt, listed which was made late last year.  They called to set up a follow up appt. just days before my scheduled appt.  and I advised them that we already had an appt. on the books.  Regarding my dental insurance, they did confirm that they take my insurance but when I called my insurance co. to confirm, they said they are not on their provider list; somewhat confusing.

Dr. Larry E. Sluss DDS PC
I have a very good dentist. He's not cheap. He should charge me less. He's very well established in the community, I'm sure he does very well. He was highly recommended by my ex wife who was a dental hygienist and I take her recommendations very seriously. He has a great personality and skills. I always pay cash when I walk out of the door so I've never done billing with them. The people that he hires are pretty good.

    Sprayberry Dental Associates
Had been going to Sprayberry for a year or so per in our network + above
all , Dr Anderson who was truly an honest guy and a very good dentist . He has
    left Sprayberry Dental .
One particular office clerk (Lisa) was
quite rude to myself  and my wife , a couple examples - once when after
we had switched over to their office and the insurance company had
mistakenly  not put us on their roster but instead  on another office
roster she in so many words accused me of trying to 'get free dental
service ' and then later said "ok I understand , sometimes people dont
have enough money for dental insurance " .. you get fired where Im at
for talking that way to anyone apparently not at sprayberry ; likely
some type of relationship ongoing .... Later the same lady when I
requested a ($5 value!!) tooth kit that Dr Anderson had recc'd she went
literally flying across the office with raised voice to make sure I
could have this tooth kit and not pay for it ... very attractive ! ..
final straw with them was when they tried to overcharge me or a
particular procedure and dramatically swore up and down that the actual insurance
benefit$ sheet - which had been up dated for the 2014 year - was wrong
and that THEY f course were right ... fact is they got caught
overcharging which I would highly suspect have been doing to others for
many many years . They even brought in the Heavy Artillery some older scowl
faced lady from upstairs who obviously ran the show and was supposed to
run me off .But didnt......Their collective outrage that I would actually bring in
the documented insurance benefits sheet for them to own up to only raised my suspicions
more ..... I called the insurance company and they agreed firmly and
immediately ... i was issued a refund check from Sprayberry Dental
within a week ....I also filed a formal complaint with the insurance
company and suggested that Sprayberry Dentals books be audited for
    benefits compliance .
Again , I suspect the dentistry is at least
acceptable but the office environment is awful . We found another
dentist where NONE of these problems have occurred .

    Michele R Chartier DDS
My last visit was very good. She is just very good. She is very personable. Her office is very professional. Her staff is very professional. She is just a great dentist all around. There is nothing I dislike about her. Her price is a little bit more but everything else is great. Billing is great. She is a little bit more expensive than other dentists but she is well worth it. She is my regular dentist.

The family has been going to her for two years. They are always very welcoming. They always refer to us by name. There is coffee and water. They give out little gifts every holiday season to all the patients. They send out birthday e-cards to each of us. So it is very welcoming and very warm.

    Byrd, Dr. Timothy N.
Dr. Byrd had good beside manner. However, another dentist was added, shortly, after I started at the practice and I was not able to see Byrd eventhough I requested him. The new dentist was O.K. However, part of the reason I selected the practice was to avoid what I suspected as overcharging from very large group practices with many dentists. Also, I'm not sure the two dentists were, exactly, on the same page about my treatment plan. The hygenist (who I think had been with the practice a long time) would take the time to explain her work. My advice is to get a second opinion if your treatment is too costly for you. The multiple crowns I was told I needed were not recommended when I had a second opinion (paid for by my insurance). The second dentist had me get a filling for only one of the proposed crown sites; He only had a reservation about the filling adhering. It's been months and so far so good. I did not get a second opinion about the, costly, peridontal disease treatment from Byrd's office, and I should have eventhough I suspected I might have had a problem when I selected the practice. This area seems to be a big area of variation among dentists. I've had other practices give different opinions about my gums years ago. Best thing would be to do as much research as you can before going into the office, and if the treatment is costly get a second opinion, immediately. Don't wait months, because then they can say that is the cause for a different opinion.

    Golden, Dr. James N.
Everything is pretty much online; I can make an appointment or cancel or change.  He does do early appointments as well.  I can make 6:30 am appointments, especially for cleaning.  So I don’t have to break up and leave work mid-day and that sort of thing.  He does take care.  He has been in practice a very long time.  He is very good at his job.

    Goodwin, Dr. Kenneth E
We like the dentist very much. Our dentist is excellent. He is very skilled. He is very open and honest with us. He tells us everything that is going on in our mouth. If he seems something that is not quite right and work that has been badly done in the past, he will let us know. He doesn’t necessarily try to fix it right away. He will just tell us that this is a potential problem and that this is what happened in the past, and that it could be a problem in the future if he wasn't able to fix it then. I really like that openness and honesty about everything he is seeing. He actually replaced a crown and I had an issue with it. He had me come in. I can't remember if it was the same day or the next day, but it was very prompt. If we have an issue, he will make time to see us. The office environment is good.

He is good. I have been using him for twenty years and my husband, probably for forty years. We have confidence in his ability and whoever he has in his office seems to be good and also very personable.
