  • Unfortunately, we had a difference of political views and she never came out to do another job we offered her to do...Too bad because she is a great worker and very professional. We hired another contractor to do our kitchen. He's good but we were spoiled by her....

  • Have known Alex for a few years and he has completed several projects for me. Previously Alex had put in recessed lighting, under cabinet lighting as well as scraped popcorn ceiling and paint in my kitchen and hallways. Not only that he built stairs for my wife to make it easier to get into our pool. This time Alex scraped the ceilings in the living room, formal dining room, two bedrooms,an office and a two car garage as well as installed crown molding, chair rail and window trim. He also put a custom closet in one of the bedrooms and an epoxy floor in the garage. Next project will be the Master bed and bath. I highly recommend Alex and the crew for any job you may have.

  • David was able to quickly come and start the job. The knockdown texture is very hard to match and we discussed this with David in advance (we had similar damage to ceiling about 5 yrs ago). He was dedicated to getting it looking right and the quality of his work was very important to him. He made two attempts to match the texture the first day, and then came back to try again with a larger hopper (used for knockdown application). He then came a final time to paint to match. It looks great and no one can tell that the ceiling was patched. He was very clean and put up plastic barriers at each visit from ceiling to floor. He was professional and a nice person. I confidently recommend him to anyone that needs drywall work. His price was reasonable, especially given the number of visits needed to get it right. He didn't ask for more money but we gave him some extra to reward his diligence to a quality fix in our home. He turned us down at first but we made him take the money. This guy is top notch.

  • While homeowner was away, painters turned the 1 year old A/C unit on full blast and put the temperature down to less than 60 degrees two days in a row during hot summer, so A/C was running non-stop.  A/C unit should be turned off during painting and sanding, as the chemicals from the paint breakdown the core, especially while using a sprayer as Alex & Bros did.  Mentioned this to Alex, and he confirmed that A/C unit should have been turned off and suggested the homeowner disconnect the power to the A/C control box before painters return to finish job to ensure they do not turn it on again.  Afterward, an A/C technician had to be hired to inspect the A/C unit, and an expensive duct cleaning was performed.  Duct cleaning service noted a large amount of drywall and dust throughout the A/C system from painters, and they said painters should know better than to do what Alex & Bros. did.

The duration of the job was quoted as a 6 day process, suggesting a quality job (reflected in the price) but was done in 2.5 days. Paint appears to have been painted on the walls without cleaning the dust from sanding first.  Handles weren't removed from the doors as promised, and painters sprayed paint all fire detectors leaving them unusable.
Painters did not clean up. Left a mess of paint and drywall dust everywhere, and only half the floors of the house were covered. Homeowner asked them to clean up, and they spent 5 mins with a broom.  A professional cleaner had to be hired to clean up after them.

I regret using Alex & Bros. and I would never recommend them to anyone.

  • The provider asked me to trust him and give him the payment up front because I was going out of town. Then failed to show up or finish the job  when he said he would. He cost me extra time and I had to delay all my other contractors. Took three weeks to do 900 square feet of  space in Drywall. If he had other jobs prior to mine and could not get to my job he should have not taken my money and he should have notified me so I could have hired someone else. Hung the Drywall prior to installation of insulation. Then charged me to take it down and rehang it. He said he would install the installation if I paid him. He charged $300.00 more than a regular insulation company then didn't install all of the insulation in the ceiling until I brought it to his attention.

Then he charged me to dispose of the debris and materials left over from the job  when he should have taken it with him after the job was finished. Even though I paid him for the disposal it took him a month to haul it off. He took his time to do that also. Several weeks and several text begging him to do what I paid him to do. Still he didn't get all of it and I had to hire someone else to get the rest of it. The provider would promise to come by and finish the drywall job but would not show up. I've had to beg him with several text to finish a job I have paid him to do. Finally I had to threaten to get another vendor to finish I to get to show up. To date he still has not finished the job. His men came in with a big rotary sander and sanded the paper  backing until the walls looked like they had a rough fuzzy texture. They ruined the drywall coverings They left a big hole arounf the ceiling vent fan in the shower. The fan could not cover the hole they left. they did not case the window properly and left a gapping space not covered by the drywwall at the top of the window. i had to have the window cased in by a carpenter to close it.

I definitely would not recommend this company!!!

  • From the very beginning I knew Dietra was the contractor I wanted to perform the job. She was very friendly and professional from the initial estimate all the way through completion of the job. She listened to our wishes and offered her own creative suggestions as well. In fact at completion of the job, our bathroom came out better than we had actually imagined.

This was no ordinary remodel job either as it included tiling, plumbing, electrical, framing, concrete work, painting, caulking, and patience. We had purchased our home as a foreclosure so we did not know its history. It didn't take long for her to discover that certain code violations were present such as plumbing and of course the slab below our tub and shower. She immediately brought it to our attention and rectified the situation. As the job went on we realized that we had made the perfect choice in a contractor. She is super knowledgeable, down to earth but above all else respectable of our wishes and boundaries. The issues she ran into due to house configuration would have stopped the normal contractor, but Dietra's knowledge and drive over came all the obstacles. At one point she had to completely re-route water lines and fill in missing concrete areas in the slab.

As each phase of the job was completed, we became more and more impressed with her expertise and we had yet to see her specialty which was tiling. Through our design and her suggestions, our bathroom remodel is stunning and will add three times the value to our home. In the beginning it was the place to avoid while showing our home and now it is the center piece of our tour. When I enter the bathroom I feel like I'm staying at a 5 star luxury condo or elite hotel. It is that spectacular.

Her previous reviews were spot on as we found out when she started tiling. The floor, large walk in shower, splash back at vanity was the icing on the cake. It brought the whole remodel together and trust me, I would not have any other person tiling my house. She is a perfectionist in a field where a perfectionist is what you want. I cannot even describe how great this tiling looks, but it is of such quality that I feel like I live in a mansion when I enter our bathroom.

Each day Dietra would arrive slightly early, work all day and bring to our attention any areas of concern. At the end of the day, she would completely clean her work area and then sit down and communicate her next days work. This went on each and every day until the remodel was complete. She performed as a professional for the entire job and we absolutely have no regrets. Her construction knowledge is top of the line and then her tiling expertise exceeds that far and away. Unlike any other home remodel, when complete you will actually be sorry to see her go because it was that good of an experience. Take my review as gospel, if your looking for a serious contractor whose work ethic far exceeds the cost then you need to hunt this one down. From this home owner, trust me when I say that you would be crazy not to trust her completely with your remodel. And if your looking for a tile expert then you found her right here!! I will definitely be calling her soon to do the remodel of our kitchen.

Thank you Angies list for helping us find Dietra and I look forward to our next experience.

  • We have been performing a complete remodel of a home we recently purchased.  We had new drywall installed by a different contractor, who also sprayed the wall color after installation.  However, I needed somebody to paint the trim (baseboard, window trim, crown molding, door trim) as well as the interior doors and two bathrooms needed to be painted (the whole house had been sprayed with flat, but we wanted a satin finish in the bathrooms)..  We also required an additional piece of sheetrock added to the shower area in one bathroom and trimmed in.  I went about getting estimates to have these things done.  As we were in the midst of coordinating with several other contractors (carpenter doing trim work, flooring and tile, plumbing, A/C), we needed to get the bathrooms done first, so they would be ready for tile installation and the rest of it (trim and doors) could be painted a little later, as soon as the carpenter was done with the trim.

Mr. Britten met me at the home at the day and time agreed to.  I described to Mr. Britten about the timeline we were working under and exactly what I needed done.

Perhaps Mr. Britten's and my personalities just plain clash, but from the get-go, it seemed like he was arguing with me about everything.  For example, he said my timeline wasn't reasonable.  He said we must be p****** all the contractors off due to delays in the timeline (he assumed that since our timeline was aggressive that we must be constantly rescheduling things, thus p****** people off, but this was not at all the case, so I found it a little insulting for him to say that.). He criticized things that I was requesting (we had explored alternatives, including the ones he suggested, but after very careful consideration, decided that the results wouldn't look very good).  I found myself on the defensive for the entire duration of our meeting.  In spite of all this, he said he would write up an estimate for the work and send it to me via email.  I never received the estimate or any further communication from him (yes, I checked the "junk mail" folder of my email account and it wasn't there either).

I chose another painter to do the job.  As it turned out, the other painter I hired managed to do what we needed without any of the hassles Chris Britten predicted would occur.

Overall, it appears that Chris Britten just didn't want my business.  That's fine.  I wish he would have said so from the start, rather than telling me he would send me an estimate, then just not do it.  Really, all he had to do was say "Hey, I just don't think your job is a good fit for us." or "Sorry, our current scheduling won't allow us to meet your timeline." Either of those would have been better than being argumentative about the job and then not following through with the estimate after saying he would send one.

UPDATE:  To clear up Mr. Britten's confusion:  You met my girlfriend at the home we purchased together in Port Wentworth at 4:00 on July 18.  She has a different last name from mine. With both of us working full time, in order to get this major renovation accomplished, each of us had to meet with different contractors and service providers as our schedules permitted.  She took on the duty of finding a painter.  She provided the review, based on her unpleasant experience with you.  In addition, Angie's List appears to have some confusion in specifying locations.  We live in an apartment complex in Pooler while we renovate the home in question, but it appears our mailing address at the apartment complex was attached to the review you read.  This was in spite of the fact that we provided the location of the home in Port Wentworth as part of the review.  I transferred my membership from our prior location in the Philadelphia area, and for some reason, Angie's List used the year our home in Delaware was built as part of this review.  Apparently there is some strange carry-over when members move around.

  • This is my second contract this year with Dietra.  She came a few days before the start date to do wall patching.  On September 30th the actual painting began.  She completed the painting of the two rooms on October 1, 2013.  She also put up two curtain rods on October 1, 2013. Having worked with Dietra in May 2013 I knew the quality of her work and she is great about offering tips.  This is what I like about her.  She did excellent work in painting the rooms and putting up the curtain rods.  She is a very clean painter.  By that I mean she cleans up as she is working.  I am, once again, more than pleased with Dietra's work. I hope to work with Dietra again in spring 2014.

  • The project went very well. John Gladdin is the man running Revelation Renovations. He was referred to me through my insurance agent when I need my ceiling repaired after a water leak back in 2008.

I have used him for various projects for almost 5 years now. During that time he has done all type of handy man work for me; painting, door installation, shutters, fencing, molding and trim, ceiling fans, lighting, and more.

John is very professional and thorough in his work. His prices are very reasonable, and there were no 'surprises'. He keeps you updated during the entire project and works around your schedule. He is a Christian worker and he has been in this field for many years. If you are looking for quality work, dependable services and fair pricing, I highly recommend John and his company, Revelation Renovations.

  • I called thinking that the problem was a leaky roof.  However, after a VERY thorough inspection, the gentlemen kindly informed me that I only needed to have the drywall repaired.  He recommended that I contact a drywall specialist to ensure the job was done to perfection.
