    DAVE'S HOME & BUSINESS MAINTENANCE & REPAIRS
When Dave came out to scope out the job to get me an estimate I told him I was concerned with the concrete not being flat, it was in fact very uneven. I also told him I had already put a composite floor down in one small room myself, which took me a very long time to get flat, within the 1/8 inch manufacturers specification, with floor levelers. Dave's floor man showed up on time and on schedule. After he had been there for about 2 hours, I went down to check on it and found he already had the flooring down on about half of the main room. I asked if he had any trouble getting it flat and he said not at all because it was already flat within specs. I questioned that, but he insisted it was flat so I gave him benefit of the doubt - maybe this part of the floor was different? I was wrong. Walking across the floor you will step on a high spot which is hard, and the next step will be a low spot and you will hear the floor creaking and cracking as your foot sinks in. When I complained to Dave, he said the floor was fine, it was just like every other floor he had put in, and "that's why they call them floating floors, because they float above the subfloor"! I understand what a "floating floor" is, and they are not supposed to be floating more than 1/8 inch above the subfloor. Even now with the floor installed, I can find numerous places where the floor depresses that much and up to 1/4 inch, but I suppose that doesn't "prove" anything. It's just a very annoying and unsatisfactory floor. Dave's cost was $3,251 which I ended up paying because it it would have cost more if I couldn't get moved back in right away.

They showed up on time and started to work. After about 1.5 to 2 hours I went in to see how they were doing with getting the floor evened out. They already had floor down on half of the main room and he stated that there had been no need to apply any leveler. He went on to assure me it was all within the 1/8 " specification, and it would be just fine. The floor is still very uneven. It is spongy and springy in some places, raised and hard in other places, and creaky and cracking most everywhere. Dave would not come out to look at it with me. He did come out one time while I was out, and only said the floor was the same as all the rest. Oh, and now one of the thresholds has popped up in the middle in an arch of about 3/4".
