    Jimmy Greene was hired to repair three planks of damage, and somehow manage to damage twice the amount of area. He seemed under prepared and unable to actually do what was asked of him. When he went over his plan of action to repair my flooring, he suggested painting it because there's wood putty. Nothing was flushed, the planks were raised and damaged that he put in. And he smelled like he had been drinking when he returned to suggest his plan to fix his awful job. If I were to compare his work to anything, I would say it would be like going to Krystal Burger and the employee throwing the food on the floor and serving it to you then suggesting spitting on the burger to fix it all. 0/10. I hope he finds a new line of work.

    Three flooring tech's arrived on scheduled date and time. They were very polite and professional, the gentlemen worked continuously approximately eight to ten hours and finished in two and half days. They first removed all of the old carpets on second floor including the stairs, then proceeded to laying padding prior to installing vinyl flooring. They also installed ceramic tile in the bathroom too. They worked from Wednesday to Friday and the results were excellent. I would definitely hire this company and flooring tech's again.

    I wouldn't really use them again. I was out of town and gave them a key to the complex. We assumed they would assume they'd show up at a reasonable time. In the end he wasn't halfway finished yet. The individual was professional but the workers that he have were not. They spat tobacco in our tub and pissed on the toilet and didn't wipe it up.

    I couldn't believe the help I received when I explained my situation with what had to be done. The cement floor had to be deodorized and a sealant applied to prevent any odor from reappearing from pet urine. After this was taken care of, Halls Flooring installed new laminate floor in two rooms. This was done during temperatures in the low 90's. The men did a beautiful job. I am very pleased with the final results. I will definitely recommend this company to all my friends.

    Bart was prompt and professional and the folks at the store were very patient with me when I was picking out my tile, they even let me take home samples to see how they looked in the rooms actual lighting. The crews cleaned up fairly well but for a few weeks I was finding old tile chips here and there. Will totally use them again in the future!

    First the helped move all the large items off the floor so they could repair and refinish all areas. Clayton sent out a two man team to repair the damaged area where the refrigerator had leaked. After they repaired the damaged area another two man team came to refinish the floors. They pulled up all the trim around the baseboard as they were going to replace it as part of their service. They sanded and refinished the floors with 3 coats of poly. They came back after the third coat and replaced the trim, moved all the furniture back and had to redo 2 areas because I stepped where I wasn't suppose to. The did all this with a great attitude and were very respectful during all interactions. We even made some changes and Clayton would just say yes sir. One thing I really liked was that we picked 4 different stains, and he put all 4 on the floor so we could see how it would match the area. Again, these guys went out of their way to make us have a pleasant experience and love our floors, and we do. Thank you Boyd Flooring for a wonderful experience!

    First General Services of the CSRA Inc
    They were recommended and sent out by USAA.  I respect that they are running a business, however most of the time spent was doing sales pitches.  Everyone was friendly, but not all of the staff seemed well informed or educated with their services.  They came out immediately, however no work was started until more than 2 days later. This is an issue when the damage is caused by water.  What they told USAA they were doing and what they told me varied greatly.  It seemed apparent that they were aware they were misleading USAA because they would show up and say "I know USAA might have told you we do this, but this is what we are doing instead".  They did the bare minimum, at a premium, and it's my belief as well as was stated by another contractor, that the damage was more extensive due to their lack of action from day one.  I had to repeatedly ask for them to take readings of walls, baseboards, and cabinetry, even though USAA told me that was standard procedure.  I also made the mistake of speaking with USAA in front of their workers and explaining how I had found a flooring contractor since the damage was to floors only.  This was 4 days in.  I also was speaking on the phone about why I had to hire a flooring only contractor, due to USAA's policy not to send a general contractor unless the damage was more than the floor.  Suddenly, the next morning, my cabinetry had damage and would need to be removed.  I immediately contacted USAA and asked them to send someone else to verify this. The second contractor, who only does water remediation and is not a general contractor in addition, verified that while there had been some moisture exposure, there was no damage and it was no longer wet so there was nothing to suggest the cabinetry needed to be removed.  Another contractor sent by USAA to assess the cabinetry repairs after First General removed the face paneling, also agreed that there was not visible water damage and that the only repairs necessary was putting back what was removed.


    After reading the response, I see it is typical of the company to blame the customer for any negative reviews.  I spoke with Matt today, who did apologize and I appreciated it.  I intended to update this to say how pleased I was that they attempted to resolve the issue.  There are several things that are completely incorrect in his statements of what occurred, including having the issue happen before.  The initial leak did occur 5 days prior, which was the beginning of the issue, however it never happened before and it couldn't have possibly happened to our knowledge before because we just purchased the house. We did not request them not to remove flooring because of our small children, to the contrary we requested it and were told that this wasn't necessary and they would prefer to do it ONLY if awarded the repair contract.  We even complained to USAA because they left a tack board and nails, as well as sharp edges of laminate behind which we had to remove ourselves.  Matt told me today that it is customary to upsell customers and that they do typically leave most removal work to the repair contractor.  USAA agreed with my assessment that leaving the flooring down wet without even attempting to remediate was improper.  Matt expressed that they only do water remediation as part of a larger repair contract, contrary to what they have in place with USAA.  This is an issue between them and USAA, not the customer.  We contacted USAA, who sent them as part of a direct agreement between the two, immediately on at least 3 phone calls because of issues with what they said they were doing and what was actually done.  The last day, day 5 we did request with USAA to have another contractor come out and follow up because of their insistence that my cabinetry suddenly needed to be removed.  We also had issues with being told we should hire them for repair because USAA trusts them and as such they could absorb the cost of the deductible and some upgraded products.  After speaking to him and this response, it affirms my decision to proceed with other contractors. I will be letting USAA know of the issue, hopefully they will look further into continuing to recommend them as a preferred provider.

    gouges Mr. Skinner was punctual starting with the estimate he provided. He always called to make sure I was home and to keep me updated. He and Chris worked to first repair some rotten floor boards and then were able to sand/resurface the floors to get some gouges out. He stained the floors to match the dining room and put 2 coats of protective coating on. He also gave me sound advice for having them recoated in a couple of years if they got scratched. The floors look amazing and I thought the price he quoted was very reasonable. Lastly, he worked to accommodate my schedule and what worked best for me.

    We went out of town on Friday morning. They were suppose to be done when we came home Sunday evening & they were not. Doors were off the hinges, no toilets in either bathroom, house was a disaster. They also cut tile in the garage so white dust flew in the house all over everything!

    Mr. Winter communicated consistently with us as we waited for our chosen floors to come in. Once they did, the workers arrived right on time and they had the whole project done in no time. They completed all the work and some of the crew members did a few small remodeling things, which was not requested but needed to be done, while the other crew members finished up. The experience was fantastic and I will definitely be doing business with them again!
