    Great service from Banks. We used them 7 years ago and got great, reasonable service. All these years later, different appliance, and same, reliable, punctual service. Mr. Banks explained exactly what he was doing and what to expect. He answered my call and told me what time to expect him that same day, and arrived on time, calling when he was on the way. He gave recommendations for what to do and explanation for what had gone wrong.

    I spoke with Mike, and unfortunately my residence was out of the mileage range that they cover for services. Mike was very nice and patient in offering my some free advice on the phone on things that I could do temporarily to figure out where the leak is coming from. I was appreciative of his help and would recommend this company if needed to a friend within their service area.

    I've had a Duet washer and dryer for 11 years and never had them serviced. The washer was not spinning and draining as well as it used to and had begun to shut itself off during loads with towels or rugs. I wanted someone who would not have any motivation for trying to sell me a new product and liked the reviews I read on Angie's List on AK Appliance Repair. He came out the next day, found some trinkets in the machine that did not belong there (pocket trash, I think) and then cleaned and tested the pump and drum. The prognosis was surprisingly good and the washer is back to doing excellent work for us. He looked at the dryer too and showed me how to blow out the accumulated lent so that I would not have a fire! Oh and a surprise bonus: the knob on my washer cracked a year or two ago so we've been using our fingers and pliers to set it - he, by chance, had a knob to fit it perfectly on his truck!
    He was polite and patient with explaining what might be wrong and what he would do to find out and what it might cost which ever way it went. He is bringing a new handle for the freezer door on my 11-year-old Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator tomorrow and has kept me appraised during the ordering and replacing process (kenmore sent the wrong color the first time!).

    We scheduled the repair a week out since this was not an emergency. Was worried the leak was going to damage the wood floors. Tracy entered my house with a smile and handed me a business card. He knew exactly what the issue was just by seeing the leak on the floor. Pulled the fridge out and the freezer door. Explained to me every step of the way what he was doing. Even showed me the faulty part which was causing the problem. He was kind enough to answer my 50 questions on the best brands to buy the next go around while he was repairing the fridge. Was in and out in less than an hour.

    When they arrived I did tell them I suspected I had a bad heating element causing no heated air to flow through my dryer. After running my dryer for a few minutes, he confirmed my "diagnosis" and said he sees those kind of failures all the time. The repair cost would be $250. I asked how much of that is labor & material cost and he indicated that it was just their flat rate for that service. At this point, I was turned off because I saw the replacement part online for literally less than $50. It's just that we're not electrical engineers and I didn't want to have to fuss with the delicate electronic aspect of repairing an expensive appliance. He indicated the labor would not be too long, so I did not feel their flat rate of $250 was justified for my repair.
    After A1 left, I realized that my dryer was under warranty and when the repairman from the store I purchased the dryer from came, he indicated that it was not the heating element, but blown fuses. They replaced the blown fuses at no charge and the dryer has worked ever since.
    While I commend A1 Appliance Rescue for coming to my house on Labor Day (oh the irony), I do think that if a consumer has a theory about the problem, that they shouldn't just be so quick to confirm it. For a $50 service call, I wanted a more thorough diagnostic examination to be performed. Secondly, thanks to the internet, consumers are a lot more educated (or miseducated depending on the topic) which means that I'm going to look up if you're trying to stiff me. Since I saw the part for such a low price, I would have loved to have a labor only rate to repair my dryer.
    At the end of the day, I can neither recommend nor not recommend A1 Appliance Repair Service because I really did not use them to fix my problem. They were professional, knowledgeable enough, and punctual for sure. The price for the repair I needed was not fair to me for the severity of the issue at hand. And again, for responsiveness, I rated C because I feel a more thorough look at all the possible issues for a dryer not heating should have been looked at before making a 5 minute diagnosis.

    There is going to be a rebate on some of the appliances. They did a great job. I got the hardwood floors. The people that did the installation had been with the company forever and I was really impressed with that. They knew exactly as to what they were doing.

    After 15+ years of service the water line that services the water tank in the refrigerator developed a leak.  Service rep arrived on time and identified the source of the problem, which was a cracked plastic water line.  He explained the situation - the end of the water line where it connected to a valve had split - the solution was to trim the old hose back beyond the split section and splice a new hose on the and connect that to a distribution valve.  The cost for this repair was simply the cost of the service call.
    As the valve services the ice maker and a cold water dispenser , and they were also made of plastic, I elected to replace the valve as a preventive maintenance precaution.

    Tracy actually made 2 visits. On the first visit, he inspected both appliances and gave me an estimate for repairs to the Amana and the GE. He did not have the parts for the repair of the Amana, but ordered them and worked with me to schedule a time for the return visit. It ended up being 2 days later, only because I was not going to be available the next day. Very professional, punctual, polite and friendly. Nice guy, really knows his stuff, too.

    They came on the day I called. Replaced the unit the next day. It was raining and they did not complain at all. Took time to explain the warranty. Could not be more pleased with service
