Several attempt to get through with finally setting up a weekend (his choice) appointment to look at work and provide estimate. Was late - called to say stuck in traffic but a mile away - still later - called to say someone hit him from behind and no one was injured. I understand the world sometimes throws us curveballs and had no issues. Said late was ok or reschedule if needed. He asked to rescheduled for the next day Sunday. I said sure if after church was good he agreed. No showed. Texted on Mondya and he said would be there on Tuesday. No showed again and stopped responding to my calls or texts. After multiple called and texts were all ignored I've given up. I used the reviews here as a guide of who we wanted to do bussiness with and work in our new home. What we got was empty promises and then completely ignored after waiting for this Yeah-Hoo for three missed appointment. If this is the way this company respects the coustomer when trying to secure an estimate I'm very lucky he no-showed. Not a professional IMHO and it looks to me like the no-injury accident saved me from becoming entangled it an unreliable, say anything to get he job, empty promise shade tree...

    Halls Flooring

    They did an excellent job.

This is the sixth time we've hired the Halls to do tile work for us.  The first time was three years ago when our entire kitchen floor had to be replaced due to a leak. The Halls did such a great job that when we wanted our guest bathroom remodeled, we hired them again. It was the best thing we could have done.

The Halls are creative and experienced. They had numerous ideas that enhanced the bathroom (we had it completely tiled from floor to ceiling), as well as having the old bathtub removed and remodeled as a shower. They were able to order marble for us at a better price than anything we could find in town. The bathroom now looks like something in a five-star resort spa.

We hired them to remove the ugly popcorn ceiling on the first floor of our house and replaced with the knockdown (not sure if this is the correct term, but it is done by putting the plaster on the ceiling, then pushing it up so that it creates a design). They did an outstanding job.

We had a second leak in our kitchen and had to have the entire floor replaced, again. We told the contractor to hire the Halls.  Good thing because we were told that we wouldn't be able to get the same tile that we originally had by the previous contractor. When my wife told Davin, he came back two days later and told us he found the manufacturer and placed an order for the tiles.

During that job, they noted our stairs still had carpeting on them (we had all of the floors done in wood). We had been told that to replace our stairs with wood, we would not have use of the stairs for two to three days. The Halls took all of the measurements and built the stairs before taking out the old ones. They did the job in one day.

Then, we just hired them to remove the old tile in our bathroom and replace it, and to fix our shower.  The first person to tile our master bath shower did a poor job of it, causing a serious mold problem in the shower.  Instead of putting a water proof shower pan on the floor under the tile, he installed a mud bed.  Besides that, he made it too deep. The shower floor was never able to dry completely.

Davin took out the old tile floor, completely cleaned the area and installed a shower pan and new tile.  The shower looks like it's brand new. On top of that, he was able to get a cleaner for the grout so we were able to removed all of the old mold that had seeped into the grout.

They are excellent workers and perform the best job. I would hire them anytime, for any job, in the future.

henour Alan was very helpful from the outset and was very patient and receptive to our goals and concerns. We had two other quotes and one of the biggest issues was getting them to show up at all. Alan had similar problems but the limiting factor was the other part of the team who was responsible for the cabinets, finishing and who took the renderings and created the actual layout prints. He was full time employee for a cabinet company and the work with Alan was a second independent job for him. He was often overloaded at  the cabinet firm and our job was performed primarily after hours. He had his own finishing facility and a small crew performing the finishing but Dave was the master craftsman for the cabinets. Getting the cabinet guy together for critical aspects of the cabinet and layout quote was a big problem. That was complicated by the fact that neither Alan or Dave had a showroom or much in the way of samples. The only sample we had was a door that was not used for a different job. Getting detailed information about the cabinets, construction, grade was difficult. I think we wasted 4 weeks trying to get enough information about the cabinets to make a decision. I told Alan at the end of the job that the lack of samples was a major problem and caused a lot of delay and redundant trips to seal the deal. Alan was very professional, straightforward and trustworthy. On the occasions where he or the partner could not keep the appointment, he always called.
Alan did all of the old cabinet removal, ceiling, appliance installation. We had updated all of our appliances so Alan disconnected and reinstalled the stove, dish.washer, disposal and refrigerator. All of that work went well and the relatively small amount of electrical work went reasonably well. There was a glitch when the electricians cut a series of 3 holes for drop down lighting. The placement was marked but the holes were cut well off the mark. The electrician corrected his work and Alan docked him for the labor required to patch the misplaced holes.
The cabinets were a major problem due in no small part to the lack of sample finishes. We asked them to match a display cabinet at a lighting store. They did but it was too light. The color selection was our error but they offered to repaint and antique them if we paid for the paint. That added delay and contributed to our overall dissatisfaction with the antiquing. It did not have the quality and evenness of semi custom store bought cabinets. Dave came back several times to redo or touch up areas but ultimately we felt that the cabinets did not meet our expectations,
You may ask why I waited a year to post this review?  We have a high regard for Alan's workmanship, his insight and suggestions. He was the general contractor and in that context, he made every effort to ensure the cabinets and electrical work was done correctly.  I should mention that we had granite counter top and sink installed. That was the smoothest part of  the process and it was due to the counter top specialists. Alan refused to accept payment until we were thoroughly satisfied  with the outcome. When it was clear that the cabinet finishes would ever meet our expectations and that every rework just added more more opportunity to wind up with a less desirable cabinet finish. We paid for the job in part because we wanted to be done and partly due to the predictable less than expected cabinet finish.  Alan told us that in the future he would not be doing kitchen renovations and he would limit his efforts to baths and other renovations.  Alan's earlier positive ratings mentioned a bother in law or relative who was a very talented partner. He had left the area or started on his own. It was clear that the other craftsman was a pivotal part of the previous ratings.  We would use Alan again. He was an asset to us during the planning, layout and installation. I think he performed his job as a general contractor very well but his reliance on the cabinet installer marred our overall satisfaction with the job.

We LOVE our new bathroom and were very pleased with the quality of Allen's work. Numerous individuals have seen the work Allen did in our home and have been very complimentary of his work, as well. He was instrumental in the design of our new bathroom, making practical and aesthetically pleasing suggestions to best meet our needs. We found him to be very attentive to any questions or concerns that we had along the way. He was always pleasant, courteous, and professional.
We had to be away from home for several days while the work was taking place, but had no reservations about allowing Allen to continue working in our home during our absence. He is honest, trustworthy, and stands behind his work. He is willing to "go the extra mile" to make sure that his customers are happy for the long haul.
Allen was a pleasure to work with, and we would have no reservations about contracting with him again in the future.

    Metropolitan Renovation Services, Inc.

I have used Lowes for several in home installations and leads, so I decided to give Home Depot a chance.  I was pleasantly surprised when my phone rang less than an hour after I left the store and the representative on the other end announced that they were calling on behalf of HD and understood I was interested in having some work done.  This type of responsiveness is why I went to the bog box store...... well it went down hill from there.  The first question the rep asked was they needed to verify I had at least $8000 budgeted for the project.   I was confused, since they hadn't even asked what I was having completed.  I asked if the rep if they were aware of the size and scope of my project, and was informed that there would be a minimum of $8000.  I chucked and said you kidding right, you haven't even asked me what I want or the size of the room or anything.   I was abruptly told that did not matter, without a minimum of $8000 budgeted they would not even come out to provide an estimate.  I said, ok ... does the include the material?  Rep - Nope that is for our labor only.  I explained it was a 5' x 8 ' bathroom from 1966 that was already taken to the studs with no demo required.  The rep explained that they could talk to the Project Manager and maybe he would consider it, but more than likely not.  I politely chuckled and explained that I would not do business with a company that makes a minimum required before they even look at the job.  They may do great work, but their business etiquette needs some work

Installed all the mirrors and shower surround. Shower is a two stall unit and there are two glass doors and a large glass wall. Everything went very well and the installers were not only very professional, but just great people.

The bathroom cabinetry turned out great.  The mirrors were great and the way they were hung was novel and so good that I had them use the same system to hang some very large art work/.  I am very satisfied with the results.

    Carpenter's Quality Home Repair Inc
When we first moved to our home in Evans, we replaced the tile flooring with wood.  Marc Carpenter and the men who work for him worked day and night (even on the weekend) to make sure it was completed before our move-in day.
The kitchen reno went as smoothly as a kitchen reno can go.  He is always careful to cover wood floors, protect surfaces, and seal off rooms to minimize dust (which I very much appreciate).  And he always makes sure that the workers clean up daily.  There were a few glitches with the cabinets (which were "subbed" out to Wrens Cabinets).  But Marc made sure that the problems were resolved, and  the overall result was very satisfactory.
Marc Carpenter is a man of integrity and honesty and will promptly follow through on any problems.  He has overseen several large and small projects for me; and I have always been very happy with the end result.  I would definitely highly recommend him and would use this company again.

It was not good. They are yet to finish the job. They have different color on the bottom threshold of the shower. They were supposed to come back out and put a correct color and they are yet to do it. It's very difficult to get in touch with them and they tell you they are going to do something and they don't do it. I've been there numerous times.

This is a family business (Alan is the contractor with his son-in-law Larry as his most able assistant).  Dependable and trustworthy.  We had no reservations with them working while we were not home- a key reason why we hired them again for the kitchen counters and are on their calendar for another project!

We appreciated their flexibility as we developed the plan since this was a total remodel.  Alan and Larry showed up ready to work and wasted no time tearing up the bathroom.  We decided at the last minute to remove the jetted tub and expand the shower.  Alan helped us come up with the plan to use the remaining space to put in a makeup vanity.   Alan also suggested putting in a pocket door which eased the entry into the bathroom while removing a poorly designed door.

The tile floor and shower are exceptionally beautiful.  Alan and Larry are superb tile layers and shower builders.  The transition from the shower to the tile floor is seamless.  Alan was able to install the rain shower head despite the high ceilings in the bathroom.  He was also willing to customize the shower to our specifications, including adding an additional niche.

Alan and Larry went the extra mile to provide us the highest quality product.  After tearing up the original tile, they discovered that the builder had cut corners on the sub-flooring.  Larry installed new sub-flooring.  The also found that the walls required additional insulation which they gladly remedied.  After the cabinet builder installed the new cabinets, Larry came back to touch-up the paint.

No home renovation plan stays on schedule as planned, but the shipping delay for the drain floor was not their fault.  We also had to get fit into the granite company's busy schedule.  Alan always found a way to keep the project moving forward.

We miss having them around and look forward to seeing them again for our next project.
