Pet Care & Health reviews in Ellijay

  • Test results were not accurate. Instead of checking reviews I should have checked Georgia Board of Veternary Medicine. VET003145. Preventative Medical Emergency (mishaps) is far more important than "judging a book by its cover". Nice staff clean waiting room does not create compassion. A Vet that does not listen to the pet owner or communicate effectively and strives on a profit margin over animals health can be dangerous.

  • Numerous tests that were costly and as of this date no tried and true results.  Numerous emails to get supplies and results answered at times but not when we needed important medical supplies and instructions for usage.

  • My family has had pets all of our life and we have carried them to many
different Vets. By far, Chestatee is the best ever. The staff is
    outstanding and unbelievably caring.
Our Pug, Harley recently got hit by the mailman's truck and broke his left back femur. From the
time I arrived, I knew I had brought Harley to the right place. The
break was severe enough that a pin had to be placed along the break.
Dr. Hall was called in and personally handled the operation. This guy
is good, probably in the top 10 in the Country!
The followup, checking on Harley was fantastic! If there was a 10 star rating, they would get it.
All of our pets are members of the family, so if you want the absolutely
best care for your "family members", bring them to Chestatee Animal
Hospital! You will not be disappointed!

  • Price was reasonable. The price was reasonable (much better than Atlanta are vets). The vets were all professional and shared information with me well. The best part of the all the visits is that was not a long wait. Was in and out quickly. They also provide a grooming service. I only used it for a bath and nail clip since I have a short haired dogs (1 pug and 2 French bulldogs.

  • I have a baby pot bellied piglet that had been bitten in the face/snout by a mastiff. I was not sure if the injury was life threatening but I knew he needed to see a vet ASAP. I drove to this vet that I had recently seen for another dogs vaccinations.New to the area , I knew I liked this place with the 1st visit but after the wonderful after hours emergency care given I knew I would stick Ocoee Animal hospital.
While driving in I left a message on the emergency line which was promptly returned by the vet. When at the hospital the piglet was seen promptly and the doctor and the vet tech were great. Experienced with so many different animals both the usual cats /dogs AND farm animals, they were quite confident.
He was sedated ( have you ever tried to examine a pig?), treated and sent home with a weeks worth of antibiotics. The price was very reasonable for after hours care .In Atlanta the price would have easily have been twice as much.
Excellent ,experienced ,quality care given by compassionate professionals.

  • Just a fantastic experience at this place. The staff are so warm and wonderful with the pets. We are really picky about the care of our Neapolitan mastiff . He can be hard to handle so we don't leave him with family like we do the other pets.He is cautious with strangers and I am hesitant to trust him with strangers. Well, he loved them and was well taken care of. While leaving he was jumping up on the caregivers and you could tell he liked them .
The pot bellied piglet is young  and we are new to pigs. They gave him all the attention he needed. I am bad about remembering names ,but a staff member followed up with some experience her family has with pigs to help us care for him ( and keep him entertained).
The vet examined him the day before and did not push the nervous (large)  dog to stand for him but rather got down on the floor where the dog was. A nervous dog can bite but they knew exactly what they were doing and showed great patience and kindness.
The vet is very kind and professional and obviously surrounds himself with staff that have the same characteristics.
Excellent place and I highly recommend them for boarding and veterinary care.

  • Dalton Animal Care are great. I like everything about them. I can go back there with my dog, I can stay with him - I don't like anybody taking my dog anywhere I can't see him. The staff is great. They are always very nice and personable. Anything you ask them to do, they take care of it, they do it for you. They help you in the door and out the door. If you've got more than one or two dogs they help you. The Doctors do too.

  • Our primary home is in Tucker, GA and we visit our cabin in Ellijay, GA on the weekends. We had never used a vet in the area until this particular day. We chose the VCA Appalachian Animal Hospital in East Ellijay due to location and reviews we read online. One of our three dogs suffered an injury to the top of the head that morning and we knew she needed stitches (at a minimum). It was not an emergency, but we wanted to get her in with a vet ASAP. VCA allowed us to come in right away, even though the veterinarian was scheduled to go to lunch in 20 minutes.
The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. The veterinarian (Dr. Wibel) worked into her lunch break and was not irritated or rushed with us. Our dog, Abby, was fixed up with staples, given antibiotics and told that she was good to go. We were surprised that the cost was only $131. As we were walking out to the car, my partner and I both agreed that there was no way we would have gotten out of one of our three vet offices in Atlanta for under $300, especially for this treatment. We have now decided to use the VCA in East Ellijay as our primary vet for routine and non-urgent issues for all our dogs. We only use our vet in Tucker, GA when we must.
P.S. Dr. Wibel (our vet that day) was wearing Pabst Blue Ribbon bottle cap earrings that were very cool. I like to call her, Dr. PBR.
