Septic Tank Cleaning reviews in Duluth

    Bowen's Septic & Environmental Services
I have had several companies service my septic tanks over the years (because several have gone out of business...) but I was very pleased to connect with Bowen's Septic Service. From the time I made my appointment, to scheduling, arrival, assessment, digging, pumping, clean up and departure I found Bowen to be the most professional company I have used to date. Daniel was terrific and was an honest professional who gave good advice on must-do's versus nice-to-have's. I found pricing to be fair given the larger tank size that we have and I appreciated the professionalism from end-to-end. It is refreshing to get a company that is so experienced and gets the job done with no gotchas or games along the way. I will definitely use them again. Thank you!

Outstanding work. They rerouted septic line on a difficult lot, where others had tried and failed twice in the recent past. The system never had worked correctly and now it does. Price reasonable for the magnitude of the problem and work was done exactly as scheduled.

We were very impressed with the level of service we got from JC Septic Service. For our work, unfortunately our original appointment couldn't be met because their truck broke down. However, they were open with communication with me throughout the process, and my patience was rewarded. When they arrived for the new appointment, they came prepared with the county documents to find and dig up the septic tank (the last folks we called did not), and did a very good job. The price was reasonable and they left my property in good shape afterwards. We would definitely recommend JC Septic Service for your septic maintenance needs.

Called for an inspection and tank pumping due to excessive water in yard above field. Upon inspection, my 57 year old field had failed. Jeff told me how the process would go and was very clear in all steps. First was a soil test by the third party company. Next was permitting through the county which they were able to take care of. Finally we scheduled a date for installation. Estimate was exact with nothing hidden or random charges added on after signing the contract. I really appreciate them being very straight forward with how long the process would take and what would need to be done. They were able to have the new field installed in under a day and had the county inspector out the same day to sign off so my yard was not left open overnight. When they left, the yard was leveled off and ready for me to reseed or sod. It was a very pleasant experience all around.

    Banks Septic
The first bad experience we had with Banks was in our previous home.  Our "septic system" failed.  All we knew was that we had sewage backed up into our home, covering the basement floors, and coming in through the shower drains on the main level.   Banks gave us a proposal for 19,000 and said that we need to pump everything up a hill to the corner of our lot.  A second company came out.  They advised that field lines collapses and replaced them for around 3,000.  That solution resolved our problem and continues to work today.
Banks was our subcontractor for our new home and installed everything.  We moved in December of 2015.  On Thursday, December 24, 2015, the alarm for our septic tank was going off.  That indicates that the tank is full.  When we called, they advised that we should look into the tank, which we did, and see how full it was.  Based on that phone call and conversation, they advised that we had "a couple of days" worth of room and not to take long showers or wash clothes.  That response was QUITE disappointing.  They also advised us to have someone check the power on the pump.  (Also disappointing having just spent thousands of dollars).  We did that.  The builder came out on Saturday and advised that we did have power and called Banks again. Banks came the following week (after days of being afraid to take a shower or wash any clothes) and found that the sensor was the problem and they repaired it.  Overall, this incident wasn't devastating.  It was certainly a hassle over Christmas and their response was slow.  They were absolutely willing to pass the blame.
Third problem arises in January 2016.  We can smell sewage in our yard and in our home.  It seems to worsen when we wash clothes.  But the odor starts in the back yard.  The bad part is that it is intermittent.  On bad days, it smells in the basement.  On worse days the smell in on the second level and you have to sometimes leave the house.  The plumber met with us and the builder to recheck everything.  Buider advises Banks but they advise they don't need to come out unless we find that it is definitely their problem.  Very disappointing. We are hoping to get all of the contractors to our home to figure it out.  So, plumber and builder return and we run smoke through all of the plumbing in the house.  That shows if there is a leak or if someone perhaps nailed through a line in the house.  Tests show no leaks inside the house.  Sewage Odor persists.  Always starts in the back yard.  Then, as it worsens, creeps into basement, then upstairs.  February:  We are journaling it now to see if there is some correlation between activity and the odor.  Builder is communicating with Banks, (Matt) about what we are doing.  March 1:  Builder hires a third party to also smoke the lines in the house to see what we could be missing.  Plumber insists it has to be Septic but continues to come and try to resolve with us.  Banks does not come for this smoke test either.    The only place that the smoke "leaks" (which is supposed to indicate where the smell is coming from) is from all three lids from our septic system in the back yard .  Banks suggests that we removed the extenders that they installed, install concrete lids, and bury them.    Banks does that.  We are very hopeful the smell will go away.  The smell persists.  Our builder comes here 3-4 days a week to confirm that he can smell it.  We are all searching for answers and cannot figure it out.  It is still very strong in the back yard.  Neighbor tells us he can smell it.  Then, a call from our builder.  Banks knows what is causing the problem.  They had just pumped our neighbors tank a few weeks back and now they have water from their lines leaking and literally springing into the air.  They advise, that must have been our issue the entire time.
April 9, arrive home from vacation and can't smell anything.  Hooray!  Maybe it is gone.  Start washing clothes and dishes and using our home and the smell is back.  Week of April 12.  Still have the odor.  Still too embarrassed to have anyone over to our new home because we never know when it is going to smell like sewage.  Ask builder to have Banks and third party that "smokes" the home come on Monday April 18 to test again and all be here to work on a resolution.  Meeting is set for Tuesday April 19.  Banks does not come.  Matt was tied up.  Third party runs smoke through drain fields to see if there is a leak there.  Smoke is coming out of the ground over drain fields in four different places. Builder gets Matt on phone and Matt says to call the county because they permitted it.
I am so upset that we have this terrible odor in our home.  I am VERY DISSATISFIED with BANKS because they seem to care less.  I have of course paid them for all of their services and now they are not coming out here to help us resolve the problem.  The plumber came time after time although he didn't believe it was his issue.  Banks will not come.   I am SICK that I didn't follow my instinct and run from this company after our first bad experience.  A service company is only as good as they respond when things are NOT going well.  And, here, things are NOT going well.  Banks seem uninterested in our problem.  "Call the county" is an unacceptable response.  They have their money.  Now, we feel like they have absolutely washed their hands of us.  I would NEVER recommend Banks.  It's easy to have good scores if all goes well.  But, for us, when the problems arise, they are not here to stand behind what they have done to help us find the source of the issue.
Contacted Banks to get exact dates on work orders and they advised they only have one on file from December.

    Banks Septic
Utilities were located prior to appointment. We were notified approximately thirty minutes prior to their arrival, which was within the originally scheduled time frame. The employees were friendly and professional. Work was performed efficiently with very minimal damage to the yard. We were very pleased with Banks Septic.

Working with Jeff went exceptionally well. Very accommodating on his schedule and prompt. When he arrived went right to work, clearly provided advise on repair and performed the fixes on the spot. He made my life a little easier that day just through his way of doing business.

    .

Work was performed to spec.  Contractor took special care to move and replace enhanced dirt we used as a vegetable garden.  Also took care to avoid a very special oak tree in yard.  Also, replaced dirt and left brush dug up in a pile at back of yard.

Did a very good job taking down fence section to get access to back yard, and replacing it better than it was.

Work performed on schedule and on estimate.

    CHAMBERS SEPTIC SERVICE
First of all, there appear to be several Chambers family members involved in the septic service business. This particular service is the one owned by Terry Chambers and includes a couple of his daughters.
In short, we were extremely impressed with all aspects of this provider's service and give them our highest recommendation. They are down-to-earth, hands-on specialists and really know what they are doing. They are exceptionally personable and positive about their work and provided helpful suggestions and instructions.
We had an inconvenient septic tank access situation due to poor original positioning, some tree roots, a back deck and the older style of cement tank installed. We had also just been stood-up by our regular local "big name" plumber because he felt the angle just wasn't "perfect" for his backhoe....this after we cut off a piece of deck to provide access and waited to be scheduled for 10 days....really left us in a lurch. Chambers Septic came to the rescue on one day's notice. Jenna and Patrick hand-dug the access, cleaned the tank, and came back the next day to install two risers. They worked quickly and their work appears to be of high quality. All prices were quoted up-front and all schedules were met.
Terry Chambers Septic was strongly recommended by 2 of our Duluth neighbors and we are now enthusiastic fans. You cannot go wrong with this choice....dedicated to the septic business and very responsible.

    AAA Septic Tank Services Inc
This company saved my sanity! I had called another service, who stalled and kept me waiting for the better part of 2 days. I already had quite a mess at my house, so I called AAA and they were at my house, ready to pump my tank within a few hours! They quoted a price over the phone, which is what they charged. They also gave me valuable information on how to stop my tank from filling too quickly. I highly recommend you call them!
