Dog Grooming reviews in Decatur

I phoned Daniel during busy spring break, looking for a new place for dog grooming, and though already booked for the week he squeeze me in that Friday. He was very professional and thorough in explanations of what to expect, went over his planned approach while making sure to meet any references I have or special needs for my dog. I felt confident in the safe environment (dogs individually kenneled and proof of vaccinations required). My dog was ready exactly when discussed, looked beautiful and came out wagging - she'd clearly enjoyed the experience! I'll certainly return consistently.

It is okay. PetSmart has great prices on foods and decent selection. It is a retail establishment so the people who work at the store kind of come and go. I prefer PetSmart over other chain pet stores. I go in there at least a couple of times a month. I think they are good for a retail establishment. Their prices are competitive and the staffing is usually okay. They don't have everything so you may have to go to your specialty pet stores if you want. I think it is a good cross section of foods and a good selection at decent prices. I am very specific about what I feed my pets.

Lousy. Kennel kept dog for 6 days. On phone calls each day they assured us dog was fine, sleeping and relaxing. They ignored our concerns that dog needed special care as an older pet and caused him to die a painful death. They lied on the phone about his status and returned him to us without expressing their regret or warning us about his condition. Inexcusable!

    Ann's Mobile Pet Grooming

This was the second time I had used their services.  My elderly dog gets traumatized at the vet.  She has bone cancer - she is doing well- but needed her summer cut.

The company sent the same person out; she was very gentle with both animals.

The personal touch was provided both years.  About two weeks after the services were performed we received a thank-you note and a refrigerator magnet with a picture of my dog.  I really liked that touch.

    Ruff-Cut by Dorsey Mcbride
We went to Angie's List for find a mobile dog groomer. Twice before finding Dorsey of Ruff-Cut we had a very bad experience. Our dog is part Australia sheep dog and part border collie. She has a soft undercoar along with a long overcoat. The previous groomers did not understand this after lengthy conversations about how we wanted her cut. They sheered her like a little lamb!
Dorsey knew all about our dog's breed and her double coat. She looked like a show dog after he groomed her. He even reduced the price because she was less work than he thought she would be. Dorsey has a great knowledge of his trade, uses organic products and has a very pleasant personality. So glad we found Ruff-Cut and Dorsey on Angie's List.

Everything was great. Nice owners and staff. Sadie looked great and happy when we arrived. Speedy check in and check out. When we first visited the owner gave us a tour of the facility and spent a great deal of time with us. He was very knowledgable about the breed of our dog.

It was a colossal undertaking, given Dinky's 'greeting disorder' (too much enthusiasm), but all went well --and swiftly --and my dog looks like he's ready for Westminster -- if only there were a category for such mutts. Dinky quickly bonded with Dorsey, who was gentle, yet firm with him. I'd say D*** thoroughly enjoyed the attention. He and I are pleased that the shaggy, matted coat is no more. We will certainly welcome Dorsey back in a couple of months.

I called and made an appointment with Shawn approximately one week ahead of time. She arrived right on time (she texted me when she was on the way as she'd said she would) and set up in my driveway. I have two goldens, one age 14 and one about 5 years of age. Both are rescues. The younger one tends to be anxious in unfamiliar settings.
I introduced the dogs to Shawn, let them sniff her mobile grooming area, and then helped her get the younger (bigger) dog up onto the table. The dog seemed completely at ease; quite different from her attitude when walking into an animal grooming salon with barks and meows and a sense of hustle and bustle. When Shawn started her machines, talking soothingly to the dogs, everything continued to go well.
She'd told me she'd spend about two hours/animal, and she did. Her charge was about what I'd pay in at a groomer's location; however, when the mandatory $30 additional for travel to one's home is added, she came out a bit higher in overall pricing. Given my dogs' comfort level, I'd spend the extra money again.
Shawn was also accompanied by her five year old daughter who did very well at amusing herself, looking at picture books, etc.

Dorsey has groomed Moby several times-- doing everything from toenail trims to ear cleaning to bathing and expressing anal glands. Moby is sweet, but impossible to out-muscle when he wants to do something other than get a bath or have his rear end poked. Dorsey handles him perfectly every time, making sure to play with him a little before getting down to business. Moby LOVES him. Because he is able to work with Moby's natural movement and resistance, Dorsey doesn't have to out-muscle him, and potentially agonizing activities with an obstinate dog become easy peasy for everyone. He stands for his trim or bath, and when Dorsey is finished, he's ready to play again. And he's always happy to see Dorsey the next time. Dorsey has a natural gift for dealing with dogs, and he appreciates and respects their individual personalities. I'd have him come every week if I could!

I love Wag-a-Lots. They are some of the most friendly people and are true animal lovers. The groomer listens to what I ask them to do and my dog always comes out looking fantastic. I Love them!!!
