Estes Services - HVAC Plumbing & Electrical
I have been a customer of Estes for 34 years. Always been very satisfied with the professionalism and top notch service. We have always had a maintenance contract and Estes makes it very easy to schedule appointments. Also have a plumbing and electrical maintenance contract. I am a loyal customer.

    Arbor Insulation Solutions
Initial contact by sales rep was very good. Courteous, knowledgeable, informative. Very willing to work within my budget. Bid was reasonable. No pressure to add unnecessary upgrades. The blown-in insulation on the attic floor turned out to be rather uneven. It looks to me like some areas might be a bit "light." They worked quickly and cleaned up afterwards.

    Aladdin Insulation & Home Improvement
Charlie did our initial estimate and sent his two guys over to do the work. We asked about insulating some additional areas besides the attic, but rather than make extra money, Charlie said that it would not be beneficial. A competitor suggested we needed it and offered to do it for additional money. We appreciated Charlie's honesty and our savings! The installation took several hours, and they could not not have been more professional. They guarantee their work and offer money back if we don't save on our power bill. Would definitely hire again!

    Crawlspaces and More
Crawlspaces.com performed as advertised. After 3 years, the waterproofing system continues to keep water out of the crawlspace. Additionally, after installation customer service was prompt and courteous. I would highly recommended.

    USA Spray Foam
The Angie's List deal was actually too good to be true. The vendor would lose money on my job because of an error in the wording of the deal. However, USA Spray Foam honored their word, and we negotiated an acceptable solution for all concerned.

    Arbor Insulation Solutions
The workers showed up on time, were able to blow in the insulation quickly, and cleaned up after themselves. I was also about to get a $300 rebate from Georgia Power because of a partnership they have with Arbor Insulation, so my overall price was only $700. I would use them again.

    Home Energy Insulation Phil Wheeler
Phil Wheeler, the owner is a pleasure to work with.  His workmen arrived on schedule, went about their business in a professional manner, and cleaned-up before they left.  Wheeler's cost was a $100 or so higher than the other company I contacted, which was a nation-wide firm whose core business was NOT home insulation, but I figured I'd be better off with a firm that built and sustained its reputation on home insulating.

Penn Carpentry LLC - General Contractor
Greg Penn and his partner Tate Smith took on a substantial renovation based on an architect's design, adding a second floor to a 90-year-old house with beams that had sagged, leaving the walls and floors uneven. From the beginning, they proved to be helpful and creative, suggesting changes that maintained the integrity of the design while saving money. They were not the cheapest of the half dozen contractors whose bids we sought, but they were not the most expensive either. They were certainly the most attentive and straightforward. They didn't try to sell their services. Instead, they offered a clear-eyed assessment of what we could get for the dollars we had, and how long it would take. They did not overpromise. Tate, who ran this particular job, ensured that we came in on time and under budget. He was attentive to detail, and so reliable. As with any project, there were surprises and mishaps. But they were few and none ruffled Tate, who addressed every issue to our satisfaction without complaint. We entered this project with great apprehension, but we couldn't have been in better hands. Penn is a small and experienced company with a stable set of skilled subcontractors. Hire them if you can get them.

    Housworth Roofing & Construction Inc
The roofer's crew was good, but the company communication with them and supervision was poor.
I made a point of telling estimator, who was very knowledgeable,  that I did NOT want ridge vents, because of the special spray foam insulation I had in the attic.  We revisited this issue several times, agreeing that there would not be ridge vents. I even wrote no ridge vents into the contract.
But--the crew put on ridge vents anyway.  This meant my insulating attic seal was damaged.  The Site supervisor did not call me that evening when this error was discovered, by me, even though I alerted the crew when I saw this had occurred.  (Site supervisor was not present at my house in latter part of day.) I called office the next morning and asked to speak to owner.  Richard co owner said he had heard from site supervisor (who had called me that morning after I called to request a phone back).  Note that I had to call them, not the other way around.
Richard and I agreed on a remedy (they pay for repair to insulation), which I arranged.  He apologized, and Louis site manager apologized.  But gosh, this was alot of stress for something that should have been straightforward and for which I paid a lot of money.  There needs to be clearer communication and fail safes.  There needs to be a less casual protocol for mistakes too, which I understand can occur.
Gutter people showed up a day later than I expected and no one called to tell me.
Roof and gutters look good and I think are of high quality.  The process of getting them was arduous. I cannot recommend this company, even though I think they were trying to do a good job and were always polite.

    Crawl Space Solutions
Recently I had to address several issues in my basement which was in an older home. I obtained a few estimates and selected Crawl Space Solutions because the estimate was the best and I was impressed with the owner who came out to the house. The owner, Chris, was prompt, courteous, and professional. I liked what he proposed and his experience with that type of work was apparent. The job went smoothly. His workers were skilled and adept. The result was exceptional. My basement/crawl space was turned into a functional space with all problems resolved. I would recommend Crawl Space Solitions to anyone. Chris went above and beyond with the work. He communicated with me regularly from beginning to end and even followed up after completion. They were truly exceptional!
