    Shane Smith Home Services, LLC
I would not recommend this company. I contacted them through Angies List on May 20, 2019. I did not get a response until May 22, 2019 - a phone call from someone with the company who indicated they had flipped 2 houses before and should be able to handle my project. That call gave me pause, but I decided to go ahead and schedule a time for them to come out and get the details of the project so I could get an estimate from them. The person who called me said they would call before coming to my house. I gave them a window of 8am - 7pm on May 24, 2019. They never called or showed. First impressions are so important and they completely failed.

Oversprayed white paint on shrubs, bottom of front screen door. Had 3 posts to paint, only painted one. Did not use funnel to pour gas into sprayer so it went all over the grass in several different places. Said he's an electrician but failed to prove it by neglecting to have back lights turn on. Back screen door was to be reversed but did the job poorly and the door is still messed up. The deck stairs were replaced nicely but did not paint the sides and some of the steps are not completely nailed or screwed down. To be fair he was polite but I think he was distracted by his helpers so nothing was really done properly. I called him to come back and check my lights because they did not come on and he said he would come one evening. Haven't heard from him since, but he's been paid so I don't expect to see him again. I've hired someone else to fix some of the things he neglected and the rest I'll do myself. I don't understand how he got good reviews. I'm very disappointed. I have some photos but can't upload them to here.

They decided they underbid and asked for more money. We were quoted and we paid in full they are not good for their word. You quote a job and we pay most anyone would expect the service to be provided.

    Handyman Matters of Acworth
Superb! Tom called us Friday night from Colorado, where he was attending a business conference, responding to a voice message late Friday afternoon. Timing was critical because our house had just been sold and the buyers inspection uncovered  problems with two windows that we didn't know about. They had been damaged by a window washer two days prior to the inspection. Tom arranged to have one of his men come to our house Saturday morning with promise of a 2nd man Monday afternoon if needed. Patrick Layman came Saturday and repaired one of the windows. We needed additional parts so I arranged to get the unique parts from the company that provided the original windows to the builder. Patrick arranged his schedule so we could meet first thing Monday morning to finish the repair. Patrick could have charged us for two separate trips but he instead kept the first ticket open until we had the parts to complete the job. This delayed his payment for the service by a week. But, Handyman Matters people are encouraged to focus on the customer. Patrick rightfully could have charged me for two separate trips but saved me money by keeping the first ticket open and continuing the time like it was a continuous service call.
In my opinion Handyman Matters is a first-class business, staffed with excellent technicians who want to do what is right for the customer. And I highly recommend Patrick Layman!

Job well done, did not give me a receipt for CASH, which leads me to believe he is not reporting as earned income.  I don't normally have a problem with this, except that the client should be given the option of a discount, if cash tendered.
Response to doing other jobs, receptive, but no follow up.
When I called to follow up, he overpriced the job.

Mr. Tankersley is an honest, hard worker. The work was completed when he said and to my satisfaction. The final bill was the exact amount estimated. The ONLY problem I had was in scheduling. I realize he is a busy man, but it took me calling him and following up with him before he actually began my project.

the job was completed as the craftman said it would be completed.  We were very satisfied with the service that this company provided and would highly recommend them. When I first called they stated that they did not service my area but after a little reflection they decided that they could stretch their area a little and go the extra 30 miles.  I'm glad they did.

After receiving an estimate on Nov 8, 2010 the work was not started for several weeks. When they did come out the interior work to replace the dryer venting to the outside and buildout a junction box was a complete work of amateurs. They cut a huge hole in the wall (and never finished out the wall repair or repainted) and put a 90 degree metal box that made the air flow worse. You can't pull the dryer out without ripping the box out of the wall. Additionally, the workers were bad mouthing their own company to me and my daughter overheard them bad mouthing me after I left. I sent the workers home and told the company those men were not to return. The exterior work to replace rotted planks and backing on the chimney was done well. They pretty much stripped off everything and rebuilt it. For that work I am very pleased. The replacement of trim around the base of the house that was rotten was quality on the outside but what I discovered was that they were covering up rotten baseboard rather than repairing the damage. Their excuse was that it was not covered under the original estimate. Having confronted their evaluator his response was there was no way they could have known and that he walked the exterior with me and agreed to the work. What I agreed to was that I thought I was hiring a professional and that I was relying on his expertise to find the damage and repair it. If this was my expertise I would not have hired them in the first place. When I walked around the house with him in detail there were obvious places that were rotten (visually and physically) as you could break the wood off by hand. There were at least two window sills that were clearly rotten, eye level, and falling apart. His answer was that I did not point that out to him and agreed to the estimate. After having the evaluator come back out twice to discuss the expectations and remind him of why they were selected over other contractors (at a 40% premium) it was clear to them that they took no responsibility for estimate, expertise, or work to be performed. They were dismissed that day. Now I am left to repair the downspouts they did not reattach and the damage done with washout as well as removing the based boards already completed to determine how much of the rotten wallboard was covered up. I would not recommend them to anyone for interior work and would recommend that any work they perform is supervised by the client for your own confidence that the work is performed properly and with quality and not just masking the issue for problems to occur later.

    I Can Do That!
The job went great. Hamilton worked 4 full days to complete all the work we needed. He bid on the job, and then took his time doing the work right the first time. I say this because he was fixing other workmen's mistakes. Our bathroom towel racks were installed so poorly by the builder's punchout guy that, not only did nearly all of them come off the walls, but they ripped holes in the drywall as well. Hamiliton didn't just slap them back up but looked for studs to attach them to. He communicated well with us on all that needed to be done, as well as all that he completed. I am very happy with the results of what Hamilton did and will call on him again in the future. The price was very reasonable, and there were no surprise add on charges. He also provided proof of his liability insurance.
