xI moved to the area in Nov 2013. I had been a patient of my previous dentist for approximately 42 years. I was anxious about getting a new provider. I found that this provider was the one that I would be using while here.

I had a cavity under a crown. They removed the old crown, fixed the cavity and put on a new crown. I am very afraid of the dentist by Dr. Dyer was very reassuring and never hurt me at all. I will be going back for teeth cleaning.

From the front desk to the dental hygienist to the dentist all I can say is unbelievably kind and caring. Everyone in the office did whatever they could to ease my mind and help me relax. I am extremely afraid of dentists and become very stressed. Dr. Griggs and his staff did an excellent job easing my fears. Dr. Griggs is a very methodical dentist, explaining every step in very clear details. He began by asking what I wanted done and what I thought needed to be done. After explaining what I needed, he agreed that my plan was extremely doable. I decided to go ahead and proceed with Dr. Griggs as my new dentist. I ended up having three fewer teeth removed and the cost is of entire procedure is considerably less than Florida. But my basis reason for this review is how calming and relaxed Dr. Griggs and his staff were to me. I definitely recommend Dr. Griggs.

Calling the office, I was initially told that a first appointment with Dr. Putnam would not be available for two weeks, with the first appointment requiring a teeth cleaning and full set of x-rays. I explained my situation and received a very understanding and caring response. I was asked if I could be in the office in 30 minutes and they would try to squeeze me in, but I may have to wait awhile. Dr. Putnam would look at the tooth and see what could be done. When I arrived at the office, I waited all of 5 minutes and they took me back. They bent their policy of a teeth cleaning and full x-rays to accommodate my need and their schedule. I was very appreciative. After one x-ray, I saw Dr. Putnam. He proved to be a gentle and careful dentist, with an excellent bedside manner. The verdict with the crown was that it could not be cemented back in and I would need to replace it, with a post and build-up needing to be done first. I was given a written detailed estimate of all charges and when payments would be due. I was scheduled for a full hip replacement in 10 days so my time was tight. Again the office went above and beyond to accommodate this new patient. They rescheduled some patients and got me in 2 days hence. At the next appointment, I was also seen within a few minutes of the appointment time. Office and dental assistant staff were friendly. Dr. Putnam did the post and build-up so my mouth would be and quot;sealedand quot; to prepare for hip surgery. The office and Dr. Putnam were aware that I would not be able to return to have the crown placed until 2 or 3 months after my hip surgery. Dr. Putnam did an excellent job of making the post and build up sturdy and well-formed so that it will take me through until I can get the crown placed. I would never have expected to feel like part of the practice's patient family on my first visit from an emergency call, but I did. I would highly recommend Dr. Putnam and his dental practice.

Let me give you all of the details. The first trip was just for an examination and X-rays. When the X-rays were read, he decided that the wisdom tooth, that had been hurting very much, had to come out and I needed a couple of fillings. Well, that wasn't a huge surprise, so I told him I wanted to more forward. He then wrote me prescription for antibiotics and pain meds. He said to me after writing those scrips, well I might not ever see you again now that you have pain meds. I said I would be back because that would not solve the problem! I don't know what kind of folks he sees around here, but I wasn't there just to have pain meds given to me! So, I made another appointment to have the tooth removed and get a filling done. I had to wait for two weeks, then they canceled and I had to wait another 10 days! By this time all of the pain meds were gone as well as the antibiotics. I was in excruciating pain at that point. They didn't seem to care one bit and thought I was out to just get more pain meds. What an outrage! When I finally got in, I had the wisdom tooth pulled and had the filling put in. All seemed well, until the second night, when the filling fell out! Yes, fell out in my hand. I hadn't eaten anything at the time either. The filling was too large for the tooth. I knew something wasn't right when I kept having pain after the filling was put in. You shouldn't ever have any pain after having a filling. (Well, the reason I was having so much pain is because the tooth, which was a perfectly good tooth other than a small cavity, was cracked vertically all the way to the roots! This was due to the oversized filling.) I made another appointment when the filling fell out. Getting that appointment was difficult too, time wise. When I went in to have it filled again, he took another X-ray and that is when he saw the fracture. He said and quot; I will pull for you today for free! and quot;. WHAT????? PULL it for free????? What kind of a dentist is this anyway! I came in for a simple filling and now I have to have my tooth pulled??!!! I told him he wasn't touching my mouth again. Oh, I had to pay for all of this too and not a dime was refunded. But, the best part is coming up next.... I went to another dentist for a second opinion. The verdict was the same. The tooth was fractured and had to come out. Can you believe that? You go in for a filling and your tooth has to be pulled? Anyway, he suggested that I have it extracted and have an implant put in. Yes, an implant. Well, it was either that or a bridge and that would damage two other good teeth, so I had to go with the implant. This has been the most horrible, horrific experience I've ever had. Not to mention EXPENSIVE!!!! $6000 later and I will have a fake tooth. The implant process is long and hard. The pain I have suffered is unbelievable. The tooth that was extracted was not only fractured all the way to the roots, but the roots were growing sideways, so it was much more difficult for them to remove the tooth. If Dr. Griggs had pulled the tooth that day in his office, he would have taken out the two teeth next to it because of the roots on the one. Then I would have had three teeth missing due to this horrible excuse for a dentist. Beware of this dentist and steer clear of him! If you want to keep your teeth that is! ** Please Note: This is the firsthand account of my husband. His name is not on this account, only mine.

Over all my experience was not good. I will not go back to this provider. I feel sorry for the staff there. When you are billed fraudulently it reflects on them as well. They are supposed to agree to go by what the insurance company tells them to charge. This is why they are listed as a provider. Well they apparently do not agree.

    Thank You
    Jim Kronenberger

I was asked by Natalie of Blairs House Dental Associates to fax my updated copy of the explanation of benefits form my insurance company sent to me. They did not send Natalie this copy. Natalie ignored the fax I sent her and sent another bill the following month. When I called again she said and quot;well maybe I can call the insurance companyand quot;. Maybe Natalie could have done this when I faxed her what she requested. If she was going to ignore the fax, then why did she ask for it?
Also. I always thought new patients had to get complete X-rays. They did not do that either.

I continue to go to Dr. Gessling because of Julie. I have followed her for 22 years. When she leaves a dentist, I leave to follow her because she goes above and beyond and uses a sonic system to clean my teeth. She takes an interest in me and is absolutely great! Dr. Gessling is pleasant when I do need to see her. I lost a filling once and had to wait a month to get it fixed. The office has all of the latest equipment.

I have been pretty happy with him. He is excellent! He is young and personable. His wife works with him. It is a family practice. The people that work with him have been there forever. He is well established here. A lot of people go to him. He is very good. He donates to charities. He is a good guy.
