Chimney & Fireplace reviews in Athens

The guys showed up on time and were very pleasant and professional. The did an exceptionally clean job of cleaning a dirty chimney and left the area very clean. They worked quickly and did a great job of explain what was done and future needs on the chimney. I would highly recommend them to friends and neighbors.

I am a homeowner not a general contractor. I renovated the
roof of my leaking house and that's when I found out that I needed to fix the
fireplace. Originally I planned to fix the chimney that is shorter under the new
configuration. I brought in several contractors and asked them each to give me
    a proposal in September.

I received several quotes and Mr. Didas provided one. It
turned out all the quotes proposed to use the similar fireplace (same price). I
asked around their service differences that Mr. Didas had given me a detailed
    explanation.

After that I proceed with him. Clearly, like any other
contractor, Mr. Didas wanted to start the work ASAP. I worried about the rainy
weather during that time, so I delayed several times. Mr. Didas went along with
it. Eventually, when I found out a good time, it was on Saturday. Given it was
a short notice, and he was on another job, he couldn't make it. My time was
tight too. So he decided to come on Sunday instead.

He came in on time and did all the demolition and
installation as promised. I am a homeowner and engineer by training, so I asked
a lot of questions (maybe naive) when he's working. I found out his answers are
always straightforward, sometimes blunt, but no hidden detail. Most
importantly, he's a careful guy and detailed oriented. After work, he picked up
    all the debris.

    Since he's a one-person company, it's understandable to not
discuss with him on the phone for too long. So I always message him of the
question. He answered when he had time. Other than that, he delivered what he
    promised.

The sweeps arrived on time and conducted themselves in a professional and polite manner.  After performing a visual inspection of the inside of our house, they were able to give us an estimate about the history of our fireplace and chimney (we later confirmed this history by consulting with previous owner, and surprisingly everything they brought up was true).

We took a trip up to the roof where the inspection continued and where they continued to give advice and insight as to standard chimney designs and practices.  What I respected the most in how they gave advice was how forthcoming they were in what was possible for us to do as homeowners versus what might be a better idea to contract out.  They were knowledgeable about general prices at hardware stores (later confirmed correct) and about estimates for work.  I really felt that this level of honesty reflected a high level of ethics and trustworthiness.

After concluding the inspection, we gave the OK for them to move forward with the cleaning.  They were very considerate about the interior of our home and took multiple measures to prevent ash, creosote, and other debris from entering our living areas.  The fellow who did the sweeping and cleaning of the bottom of the fireplace did a very commendable job (our fireplace was very dirty), and I could tell afterwards that he really spent the extra time and effort to make sure they left our fireplace safe and in working order.

When the cleaning was complete we accepted their offer to "test" our fireplace (we're new homeowners and had not done so before), and it was a really great feeling to know not only that our fireplace worked but that it was safe to operate.  Additionally, might I add, the fire started faster than nearly any fire I've seen.  Truly professionals in the chimney business!

I would not hesitate to call TnT Quality Services again, no matter if I'm getting a standard cleaning or if I'm getting more serious flue work.  If only all contractors were as honest, reliable, knowledgeable, and trustworthy as these folks.

Gave us a great price on purchasing and installing a direct vent gas insert.  Was the only company that gave us a reasonable quote and didn't try to sell us on thousands in unnecessary extras.  Installation went smoothly and the unit works great.  Would definitely recommend this company.

Eric and his assistant Cardin are punctual, thorough, and fast. Removing the entire floor and all the broke joists in our sunroom was a big operation, but Eric knew exactly what to do and replaced it all new joists and supports, which have made that space one of sturdiest in our home. When we replaced the patio doors, they'd become damaged and Eric used bondo and paint to make the door look new. He also placed metal flashing around outside door frame and in other places to help fight water damage. Hi assistant Cardin helped with very detailed tasks related to the painting of our house, our floor molding, and she also installed a proper dryer vent to the outdoors, running the tubing through our attic and outside of the house. A+ team!

We had just moved into the house late spring and although the previous owners had the chimney cleaned and capped, they never used the fireplaces.
The first time I used the fireplace, it seemed to be okay and then a short while later, the house started filling with smoke. I contacted Todd with TNT Quality Services. He had actually been referred to me by Keith Porter Insulation & Fireplaces whom I had been directed to incorrectly for what I needed done.
I originally contacted Todd by email and he promptly answered. However, I was remiss in responding back to him but he followed up again with me!
Todd does charge a service call fee but I believe it includes a sweep which I didn't need. He arrived when he said he would and was professional and friendly.
He checked the fireplace and even went up on the roof to check the height of the chimney stack. He informed me that the stack was short of the minimum in relation to the roof and explained that this could be the reason for the smoke in the house. He made several recommendations but they were all a little costly for me at the moment. He then gave me some tips on how to possibly avoid the smoke without the repairs. So far, his tips have worked and with the sudden drop in temps, we are enjoying a nice roaring fire.
I will have Todd return to do the necessary repairs when the funds are available because I felt that he was professional, prompt and honest.

Services well done, friendly, in addition to services we requested Todd secured the bottom of the insert that wasn't secured, added a piece of insulation that was missing, and even changed the bulbs in our yard light on the corner of the house we couldn't reach, but he did with his tall ladder. He didn't charge anything for all that.

Chimney cleaned well and checked. A lot of info provided on when to clean, what causes creosote buildup, etc. Suggested an extension on the chimney, which we are arranging for him to do. He will also replace the screen on the fireplace insert. He reinforced the insert at no charge. Very prompt and efficient. Left everything clean.

Todd was extremely professional. He called to confirm the appointment and showed up on time. Todd inspected the fireplace and chimney in a house I just purchased. He walked me through some issues with the fireplace and thoroughly explained my options. He was very knowledgeable.
Todd did a thorough cleaning of my dryer vent, which was not an easy task as it ran up a pipe about 12 ft to get out of the house. He spent about 2 hours doing the inspection of the fireplace and chimney and the dryer vent clean out. In the end, he was not able to clean out the chimney due to some work done by the previous homeowner,  but he did fix the damper that was stuck. His prices were very reasonable and I will definitely call him again in the future!

At the time, the cost of the the work seemed reasonable to us.  They seemed knowledgeable and arrived when expected.  I was reassured by the owner's listing as a Certified Chimney Sweep. They did not, however, clean up the yard after scraping off the old mortar cap. They just left all that debris in the grass. Whatever.  Our low rating comes from the fact that the work did not last as long as it should have.  Some of the fireplace mortar crumbled after ~3 years. And maybe after ~4 years, the mounting for the chimney damper came loose.  The mortar cap isn't holding together real well, either.  AND, when I looked to see if Denise Reeves (the owner) was in fact listed with the Chimney Sweep organization whose icon she includes on her invoice, well, I never could find a listing for her.  That makes me suspicious that she isn't everything we had hoped.
