Alternative Medicine reviews in Athens

My stepfather went into this facility after he had a hip replacement. He is a sufferer of polio and one of his legs is paralyzed. So, he spent about 5 weeks at Camden Place.
The rehab team of physical therapists was very good. They worked with him and encouraged him at every step of the way. If I were just rating the rehab, I'd give the facility five stars.
Unfortunately the support staff, particularly the social worker (Babetta) was incompetent. I was assured that before he was discharged, they would do a thorough discharge plan, including going to his home to make sure he could manage by himself. (My mother is elderly and unable to help and I live in another state). This did not happen.
He was discharged without any assistance. Once home, he had the wrong wheelchair (one he could not use to get in and out of bed) and was bed ridden for 7 days. Although a physical therapist came, she could do nothing until the proper equipment was ordered. Had they done their job and checked this out ahead of the discharge, everything would have gone smoothly.
Meantime he's had a setback and must regain the strength he lost after 7 days in bed and unable to get out. BTW, he had to call the EMT's for help on at least 2 occasions.
The facility director should take a long look at these reviews and hold those staff responsible for the trouble they cause. My stepfather did everything he was supposed to do and now he must struggle to regain the progress he made.
    It's a tragic thing.

The clinic took X-rays and found the reason for the pain. I was given a sample of a pain ointment, a prescription for pain meds, some exercises and the invitation to return if necessary.  The PAs seemed knowledgable and caring.  I know at this clinic that it is routine to be treated by a PA and not the orthopedic doctor unless it is a surgery but I felt that if a physician's input had been required that would have been provided.
I wish I could say the pain went away but it has not.  However, I was given the option to have an injection into my shoulder if I feel it is necessary and so far I am managing with NSAIDs.  I may return one of these days and I surely feel that I am in good hands at this clinic.

Bill was wonderful!  He made me feel comfortable and listened to my needs and concerns with having a massage.  The environment was soothing and comforting.  By the end of it, I felt like jello and completely relaxed.  I have a hard time with "hard" massages, and Bill was extremely respectful and kind while doing my massage.  It was perfect.  I can't wait to go back!

At my initial exam, it was recommended that I have an MRI of my neck.
After insurance delay, the MRI was completed on March 3, 2014. I waited for Athens Orthopedic to call me with results/appointment. I finally called them early May and  an appointment was scheduled May 13th to review the results of the MRI. I was informed that  the MRI did not indicate a neck problem and the doctor suggested that I now go for an EMG(nerve test) followed by; depending on the results I would be looking at either neck surgery or wrist surgery for carpal tunnel. I was not happy that the first order of treatment would be surgery.
Since I am not willing to have surgery on my neck or wrist at this time, I did not follow through with the EMG.
I am not sure if I would use this provider again.

The treatment that I have received has been well catered to my needs. I always have the feeling that Virginia is paying attention to the feedback that she is getting through her hands as to how my body is reacting to what she is doing. I feel like the treatment is very personalized and they are very friendly. I had no trouble at all getting an appointment. They have an online appointment system, where you just login and tell them when you want to go and they set all of that up for you. They are located right in the heart of town, there is plenty of parking and it is easy to get to.

Bret did a fantastic job on both occasions explaining the cause of the SI joint dysfunction, treating it in the therapy center with ultrasound, stretches and heat and stem, as well as providing exercises at home. On both occasions, I felt much better in a short period of time. The other staff are also great and Bret makes P.T. a pleasant experience with his communication skills and bedside manner. I really feel I was treated well and that Bret and Carrie helped me feel better. I do know it's important to keep up with the exercises at home, but I appreciate the therapy I received the second year when I had a relapse.

The last time I used them was two weeks ago and I'll be there tonight. My experience there was very relaxing. It's a clean environment and it's quiet. They all are individually owned and operated, I believe, so all locations do not have the same owners. I know I like this particular one and there is one closer to me that is newer. I didn't care for the experience there because I believed that the masseurs were newer, so it was a little different experience and it wasn't as comfortable. I'm very comfortable with the masseurs that I chose. You can choose who you want, so I'm a very happy there.

Not a lot of choice.  The staff enjoys a good deal of empowerment, and they appear to know it.  I found several of the "paper people" rather condescending.  Also I called after hours with a question... and once again.... they did not disappoint.  Both the operator and nurse sounded as though I was a bother.  I got great advice with regard to pain of a broken leg.  She told me to stay off of it and keep it elevated.  Perhaps her keen intellect is why she can afford to be less hospitable.  I think how I talk with those I serve in the public domain, and I pray I do not come off as much of a disinterested erudite jerk.  I imagine they would not tolerate that from me if the tables were turned, nor should they.
What can you do?  I am stuck with them.  The Urgent Care People are not the compassionate fun people they play at with their "garanimal" matching outfits.  Folks at Walmart have more charisma.

I'm new to chiropractic care, but I have enjoyed all my experiences at Touch of Georgia. The doctors are painstaking about explaining what they are going to accomplish and how; they want to be certain their patients are informed. There is a discount when you pay for five visits in advance, and I was happy to use this, since I have a problem that needs multiple treatments. I like the fact that they work directly with muscles, not just the spine. There's no pressure to make another appointment sooner than you need it. Everyone that I've had dealings with has been friendly and considerate, and they've always been punctual about keeping my appointment.

After typing a long detailed review Angie's web site crashed and deleted my review. This happened twice. I am very unhappy with Angie's list and don't have time for another attempt to write a review.

In summery, I am very please with Dr Jay Erickson. I highly recommend him. His treatment was gentle and effective.
