Lighting Installation reviews in Albany

Do It Wright Window Treatment & Install
I hired Adam Wright with Do It Wright Window Treatments to complete several projects on my house before I moved in. Everything started off on a great foot, but as time went on, the cracks in his company began to show through. To spare you all the details here are just a few examples. Adam subcontracts many of his projects to guys off the street. Unbeknownst to you, you will have every Joe Blow working in your house. These men are not licensed professionals, just some guys looking to make a quick buck. One of those men even destroyed my kitchen when he tried to remove the wallpaper--dry! (See pictures) Now if it is something that he is doing himself, Adam does a great job on it but don't expect him NOT to use others while he is off somewhere doing another person's house/project. In the beginning, I foolishly gave Adam my credit card to a home improvement store to buy the products he needed to complete these jobs. We made an agreement that he would give me all receipts so I would know what was being purchased. Not only did he NOT give me any receipts, but he charged TOOLS on my account, including a $200 saw table!! Surely as a contractor he would/should have his own tools. I entered my home one day while he wasn't there to discover shampoo in my bathroom that didn't belong to me. When I asked him about it, he admitted to grooming himself in my bathroom!! Stating, "I know it wasn't professional but I am here all day so I figured I'd get it done." Unbelievable! Finally, he stole all of my tools when he was "finished." I'm pretty handy so I have my own tools, painting supplies, etc. EVERYTHING disappeared when he did. In addition, he left my house a complete mess. My backyard was littered with fast food cups and wrappers, old paintbrushes, old pieces of wood, and empty water jugs that I had to clean up. I have left him countless messages trying to get my tools/money back to no avail. He's a smooth talking con artist who can't stay focused. He takes on more jobs than he could do at once, so your house or project will fall by the wayside once he gets bored with it. Trust!! Decent prices but it is not worth it in the end. Go with a REAL professional.

    MetroPower Inc

My first appointment was to discuss a list of services needed, provide a cost estimate, and perform initial work.  Services are provided at a flat rate of $75 an hour no matter what type of electrical work.  Do to time constraints, he could only advise me on the work to be performed and do the first increment of work.  The electrician seemed reluctant to do some work and was less than clear on a description of what would have to be done to add lighting in the kitchen.  Under counter lighting has yet to be scheduled due to ambiguity in the description of work.

The kitchen overhead lighting was replaced efficiently without any problem.  He installed a new fixture in the ceiling and had to open the wall over the window to pull a wire up for a pendant over the sink.  Both went very well and were completed in a reasonable amount of time.

Based on the electricians feedback, my carport lighting ballast was out and it would be cheaper to buy new fixtures then replace a ballast due to time.  I purchased the new fixtures the next day but it took three call backs over multiple days to get him back to install the lighting.  The install did go well once he was able to squeeze me in but again he was very rushed.  Fixing the utility room light seemed to be a rush job.  He had to redo the work because the first fix did not correct the problem and in the rush a fluorescent was broken.  He replaced it at no cost but it really seemed to be commitment of time that is the obstacle.

    MR ELECTRIC
We're planning to have him come back and do other electrical as our remodeling projects continue. They're doing a fine job, they're very clean, courteous and polite. They even carried out my trash one day when it was raining. Just nice guys.
