Fence Company reviews in Acworth

    Shane Smith Home Services, LLC
The job started out fine. The retaining wall was repaired, the decking was removed and hauled away with other debris and the rotted deck bands were replaced. Additional rotted wood was discovered and fixed. But it felt like every day they left I was either fixing something, cleaning up after them or both. Here is a list of what I dealt with: 1. They busted 8 off the edge of one of my recently installed back steps when they tossed old deck boards down. Four other steps have small chunks taken out of them as well. 2. It took them 2 attempts to properly secure 2 new fence posts and a 3rd attempt to secure another one. There were only 7 total. 3. I asked them 3 times to remove old rusty metal bands that were sticking out from a concrete corner post they removed. I had to take care of that myself. 4. They forgot their caulk gun twice, leaving the gaps between the siding and a newly installed corner board exposed to heavy rains for 2 days. 5. They had to borrow my tools and paint brushes and left my ratchet/socket in the rain. 6. They installed siding too low by the patio door and I couldnt install the decking. I had to remove those 2 boards and reinstall them correctly before I could proceed. 7. They dented my new downspout by the patio door in 5 places and got paint on it. 8. They didnt replace a section of flashing on the deck that I paid for. I had to replace it myself. 9. They damaged a roof shingle above the front stoop with a ladder. It looks horrible and I cant be certain it wont leak. Now I have to get my roofer back to look at that. Wonder what thatll cost me? 10. They damaged a corner board when siding was removed and just smeared a bunch of caulk on it. Didn't bother to mention it either. 11. They installed a piece of siding that is only 2 wide. Who does that? 12. I had to clean paint drips from my driveway after they painted the soffit the first time. Drop cloths were not used. 13. After they painted the soffit the 2nd time, there are now paint drips on my wood stoop. Again, no drop cloths were used. 14. I picked up at least 2 dozen nails and many wood splinters, some very large, from the side of the house where siding was replaced. There are probably other nails that I cant find which could be projectiles when mowing. I also cleaned up plenty of debris from the front deck and driveway including cigarette butts. For such a large project, I expected a few wrinkles. But this laundry list shows a lack of respect for my property. I honestly wasn't going to leave a review, it's not my style. But I was pushed too far at the end of the project. Shane texted me that they were done and he wanted paid. I was still 2 hours out and said I would pay him when I got home to review the work. He insisted, rather rudely, that I pay him immediately via PayPal. I still waited until I got home, but it was raining so bad that I couldn't look at the siding and I paid him anyway. I should have stuck to my guns. They did not replace some of the cedar siding we agreed on. I can do a lot of work myself, including replacing siding, but I wanted them to replace siding higher up that was unsafe for me. They replaced many lower boards, ran out of siding and didn't replace what I really needed to be fixed. I emailed him and heard nothing for a week. When I texted him about this I asked if he was a man of his word. He got belligerent and said I was speaking to him like a child. That was not the case at all. Then he said he wouldn't do any more siding replacement unless I purchased the materials myself. I refuse to play that game and will figure out a way to replace those boards. He simply would not own up to the fact that I did not get what I paid for. I would not recommend this contractor.

50% was asked for up front and Work began 6 weeks later...this was expected. I rated fair and good because after paying $5k for a fence, the dados in ALL of the posts look as if a drunken sailor cut them. They missed putting nails in some of the boards..and trying to get someone to call back and then actually show up to make minor repairs (not the posts, only to reverse hinges) it took weeks. Also, I have terrible oil stains in front of my home now from the installers truck. Also, they left terrible piles of trash st my house for 3-4 days that looked terrible. After 6 weeks, I am still picking up nails that they left in my grass from their nail guns.

    Scheider Construction LLC.
I had a fence that was installed by the previous owner in 2013. This year the fence started leaning into my neighbors yard. I began pricing to have it repaired but very few will repair fences they mainly want to quote you on installing an entire new fence. Steven Scheider came out and we decided to put a gate in the area that was leaning and he then secured the other posts and replace some other boards. The job was done quickly and I am extremely happy with the work and will hire Scheider Construction again when I have the need.

This is the second repair that we have had done by First Fence. They were wonderful - responsive, and fixed the fence and rebuilt our gate two weeks earlier than expected. They do very good work in a timely manner.

Nadir was a pleasure to work with. He made two visits to my home, one to evaluate the project and one to complete the work, He called on the day of the repair with a specific time of arrival and completed the work as we agreed. The railing posts were repaired, installed and painted. There was no mess, no paint drops on my new stone steps. Very happy!

    Affordable Fence Of Georgia
Let me first say that Affordable Fence is very busy. I now know that it's because of the quality of work they do, and just as important the customer service they provide. The owner Betty came out to look at our yard in early June. She spent considerable time listening to our needs and offered great suggestions. We had already spoke with a few other reputable and good fence companies, but there was something about Betty that made my wife and I feel good about Affordable Fence of GA. It was almost like a family member suggesting ideas. So we scheduled the work which was to start at the end of August. Come the end of August, Affordable Fence is on site with Betty, Mike and Dan. We all walked the property lines just to be sure of what would take place and to see if there were any changes my wife and I wanted to make since our first meeting back in June. (We did have one change and that was to add a double-gate entrance). Affordable Fence spent the next week digging new post poles and installing nice 6x6 posts. Then later installing the rails and finally the pickets. Then they removed the old fencing. They did the install first then removed the old fence afterwards so as not to impact our ability to use our yard and pool. (very considerate) We ended up with a beautiful new fence that was approximately 260' linear, 2 regular sized gates, one double-wide gate and of course 1 side with the ranch style fence that provided us with a great view to the creek area! After they left, I installed some sod in areas around the new double-wide gate and while watering the sod I noticed water welling up around some of the posts that had concrete about 1" below grade. I called Affordable Fence and there was no hesitation on their part (and no explaining on my end), Mike came out a few days later and added concrete to those posts so the water would no longer well up. I am extremely happy and satisfied with the work and the owners from Affordable Fence of GA and have already recommended them to a few neighbors who asked about my fence.

    The Gate Guy
After seeing a number of A rated reviews, I was very surprised by my experience.  I had to call and send multiple requests through Angie's List before I heard back from the owner. He explained that he was out of town.  After setting an appointment and meeting with us for almost 1 hour, he did not send a proposal within a few days, as promised.  I sent 2 follow up emails over the course of 3 weeks, no response.  I was really hoping to work with him, very disappointing.

    First Fence of Georgia
First Fence of GA did a great job rebuilding our fence gate. We had a double gate that was previously broken and sagging and they reconstructed it with new materials and it works great! The amazing thing was how quickly they were able to do this - they had it rebuilt within 45 minutes of arriving at our home and it is very good quality. They arrived when they said they would, and completed the work very efficiently. We were concerned about it sagging again in the future (as our last gate had), so they listened and rebuilt it in a way that it was "lighter" and wouldn't pull down over time. I appreciate their professionalism, their concern about our feedback in the process and completing the job in a very timely manner. I would definitely use them again in the future.

    Bravo Fence Company

On 8/15 we had an appointment for someone to come out to walk our yard to provide us with a quote.  Shortly before the appointment, we received a call that she was running late- it really was not an issue for us, we had no plans to be anywhere else that day.

The appointment went really well, and within a day or so we had the quote.  Our HOA denied us the original plan, so we made contact to have the drawing updated to the HOA's specifications.  That was 3 weeks ago.  My emails, phone calls and texts have gone unanswered since 9/3.

We ended up having to go with another company, because we have two small children and two dogs, so the fence was a priority for us.  A real shame, because I was really looking forward to working with them.
