    Barnhardt Construction LLC
We added over 3000 square feet to our home. Our first general contractor was a disaster, suffering two strokes and abandoning the job leaving us with little more than a slab and about $40,000 in unpaid subcontractors. We interviewed many new general contractors and Chris was the most knowledgeable and experienced. We havent regretted our decision. Chris accurately estimated time and money, quickly and efficiently finished the project, would always accommodate changes along the way, and knew how to technically achieve things that other contractors that I talked to did not know how to do. We are going to have Chris do more work for us.

This contractor presented and signed a contract February 28th to begin work the 1st of April 2016. Per the contract, the job would be complete by the 15th of that same month (April). After the 1st had come and gone by several days with little to no contact from this contractor, I finally reached him and let him know that I had a lawyer and am about to file a suit against him for the 50% deposit required up front. Only after having to inform him a lawsuit would be filed against him did he take this job seriously. Compensation for breach of contract and substantial lateness of the start of this job he offered to do a few other things we were remodeling, I thought at the time was fair. Total job time was not the 15 days as promised. It took nearly 5 months to just install the cabinets. This contractor blamed the cabinet company for the mistakes he obviously made with a measuring tape. He forgot to take into account the wall he removed in his instructions to the cabinet makers. Three different times there were issues with these cabinets that he blamed on the makers in Tennessee. Nothing was his fault according to him. There were a few alterations that had to be made due to obvious extenuating circumstances that arose during the work, as there always will. After 2 hours of listening to these people discuss an issue of a window fit, my wife had to inform them "its obvious you will just have to make the window bigger" From the time work was started, to the time I was fed up with this contractor and released him, his personnel only logged in 127 hours over a 5 month period of work.. My wife kept a detailed log of arrival and departure times and what work had been done for that day because I was still stationed at Fort Jackson, SC and could only make it home so often.. So yes May to October to just install the cabinets and a window. This 127 hours was not just the initial project time. This is also including the agreed compensation work. Since releasing this contractor there have been issues arise that should have never occurred. Mind you this has only been 1 year 6 months after the release. Cabinet doors and drawers do not open and close correctly, 2 drawers that the bottoms have pulled away from the framing, and a drawer face that has pulled off. I have since had to repair myself because of the use of a cheap manufacturer and up selling this product. Shoddy work has left its mark and obviously seen. Wood lettering and markings, staple and nail holes all remain an eyesore. But they are puzzled on my opinion of them and their work. This is a sub-par contractor doing sub-par work with sub-par products. If asked he will say well the owner did nothing but compliment us on our work. He would be correct, however this guy needs his ego catered to in order to get anything done out of him. I implore you to not use this company.

Took them almost 2 months to start it. Sent young people who took several days. They did not put the old insulation and cover back on, we had to call and ask for that. They were supposed to install and clean up everything. We still had pieces and parts in our back yard and we picked up 2 dozen white screws that we removed from old carport. Terrible customer service and work.

Cant say enough about their work and response.    I will say that I am fairly difficult to deal with as far as the details and these guys plowed through our tough timeline and exceeded our expectations.

Beware, this company used to be called DMS or Dimensional Construction

Very bad service, as they used the wrong shingles color in my roof and basically called me a liar and that I had chosen the color they installed

They came to my neighborhood soliciting services because of supposed hail damage last year!

When I told them I was not ready to pay for the roof until later, they put a lot of pressure to try to get the work done ASAp and threatened me with the permit expiring soon. The permit was going to expire much later than what they told me.

They came to my house unsolicited trying to figure out when I would be ready to have the roof replaced.

They dealt very poorly with my title company when I had to have the roof repaired in order to close on my refinancing and I was not aware of that.

They put liens in my house which did not allow me to pay for the roof in installments.

Do not use this company for anything. They must have changed their name from Dimensional Construction to HomeOwner Choice Construction for a reason!

Look at another example of the ripoff report on another customer with the same scam, which unfortunately I found out after the fact.

They told us we would be out of our house for about four months and it turned into 18 months. It was a nightmare. We wound up having to fire them and had to have the work redone because the walls were crooked and doors were hung where you could not even shut the doors. It was horrendous. It was over $200,000 and then we had to pay to have the work redone. I do not take any stock in the Better Business Bureau because the Better Business Bureau backed them up 100-percent. I grade them F-minus overall. They are so bad that our insurance company refuses to do business with them. Our house is almost 4,000 square feet. When they had people in here working on our house, they only had two workers in here. I would tell people to run, stay away from them.

We have been in our new Avalon home for one year now and we love our home.
This is the seventh home we?ve had built in our lifetime and by far the best experience.
After meeting with other builders and studying existing home sales, we contracted with Avalon to build our home.  We loved the floor plan of the Antiqua model and the community where they were building.  Our previous building experiences had been challenging so we thought this home would be more so, since we lived 900 miles away and only planned on one visit
    during the building stages.
We were pleased with Ralph Zuckerman, President of Avalon Building Corp and his staff and subcontractors.  The only visit prior to the home completion was for a pre-drywall inspection.  During this quick visit, we also hoped to meet with the landscaper, the music and cinema group, the granite company, the floor tile company and a home decorator.  All of these subcontractors
made themselves available to accommodate my tight schedule.  His staff and subcontractors were professional, courteous, and experienced.  And they do quality work!
We were also pleased with Guy, the site supervisor.  He kept us updated on the building progress and emailed photos on a regular basis.
After moving in, the list of items that needed attention during the one year warrantee was limited to a few very minor items that were handled quickly.
I would recommend Avalon Building Corporation without reservation to anyone looking for a quality home builder.

Southern Crafted Homes, Mr. Jim Dietch - general manager,  was very sneaky.  He had Lori Wamsley, his secretary, send me a form that basically said that I give up the 2% back that they promised due to the fact that Wells Fargo who was mortgaging the home, would not allow it because I took out a reverse mortgage.  This was all done underhandedly by stating things like page 37 of the contract, section D, paragraph 16.(example).  I was trying to get down to Florida for the wedding and had to go to closing the next day.  I believe they moved up the closing so I wouldn't find out what they had done.  Had I known, I would have backed out of the sale.  Additionally, they are now selling homes to be built in Phase II and promising a community pool, club house, and rest rooms.  They want to incorporate Phase I (which I'm in) with the deal.  Our HOA fees will go up about $50 per month additionally.
We have people already in Phase I who don't want a pool or already have installed one on their property.  Why would they join the community pool. There is a meeting on Thursday, August 8th in the model house to discuss this.  I believe it should be optional for the Phase I people to join the pool or not.  I know I'm not interested.  Additionally, we've had a lot of vandalism problems and this will only cause more.  Southern Crafted Homes lies about everything and in current construction, wood and shingles have sat outside in the rain for months.  I'm glad I'm not buying those houses.

We were not able to go through with the project because the bank would not approve us for a construction loan. Our home doesn't have enough value. Go figures when you trying to add value to it.!!!!
Anyway, the company is very professional and I felt very comfortable with all the ideas she suggested

We cannot say enough good things about Residential Remedies. Owner Chris Barnhardt worked with us to schedule the job according to our schedule. High quality materials were used and the men were meticulous in their work. The crew worked tirelessly to complete and perfect the project. We are saving up to have our next home improvement project completed by Residential Remedies and highly recommend this company.
