    Tri State Paving
The property where I want the service done is a residential duplex that I own and have tenants in.  Originally the provider said that this would qualify for the Big Deal but then they said that the property was commercial and wouldn't honor the Big Deal.

    Johnny Under Pressure
John showed up and pressure cleaned the driveway and walkway the first day. The next day his assistant came and sealed the driveway.
I am very pleased with the work, and now, a year later, it still looks great!

We hire them and I would give them an "A." He was a pleasure to deal with. He did a great job. It took them all told a week or a week and a half to do the work. They had to pull a permit. I had them come back and seal, that was extra.

    Better Paving Corp
Michael came by and represented that he would install a smooth asphalt driveway "just like the road". We did not call him or contact him initially. He was driving around and offered his service claiming he had another job nearby and wanted to offer us savings since he would be "in the area".
Originally, his price was very high and he brought it down to the agreed $1,900. I was very hesitant and I ONLY agreed to the work because of the terms of payment he agreed to which were 1/2 on the day of installation and 1/2 to be paid 14 days later. The ability to pay as we agreed was an important component of our contract (and I have it in writing.)
On the day of installation he covered our driveway with recycled asphalt (rap). It was applied cold and no heat was ever applied to the asphalt. I initially started to have concerns when I saw the size of some of the pieces in the asphalt, but figured once he rolled the driveway, he would resolve it. The next day, he indeed rolled the driveway with a small roller. It was better but by no means a "smooth asphalt driveway like the roadway." I challenged him on it and he represented he would roll it again and address the pieces. Several days went by with no additional work.
Finally, 6 days after the work, he called me to see if I would pay the balance "early". I agreed to give him 1/2 of the balance (which was 1/2 by this point.) He came by and I asked him about the big pieces. He said he would roll the driveway again (which was not done) and that he would apply a chemical hardener.
I gave him a check for 1/2 the balance as agreed BUT he then asked if I would mind giving him the other 1/2 on a post dated check. He pushed stating it would save him the drive! I should not have agreed to, but I did indeed give him a check dated 3-17. So, on 3-10, he had 2 checks: one dated 3-10 to cash that day and another dated 3-17 which he promised to deposit on that day. Well, imagine my surprise when the next day (3-11 as I write this) I notice that not just did he cash BOTH CHECKS yesterday... but even ALTERED the 3-17 check! He altered the date 3-17 in pen to make the 7 appear like a 0!
This was an extremely unprofessional (and potentially unlawful) touch to an already disappointing service! He promised a smooth asphalt driveway (like the road) and instead we essentially have a "somewhat" compacted recycled asphalt driveway that would not last 1 week if used as a road. I have my doubts about how long this pretty-much gravel driveway will last, and Michael's behavior of altering a check and essentially stealing $ from me (if only for 1 week) is the last confirmation I needed that he is not someone to be trusted nor someone that can deliver work of good quality.

    Fl Best Pressure Cleaning
I initially hired John of FL Best Pressure Cleaning to clean my driveway based on a neighbors recommendation.  He did a fair job on the driveway and patio for a fair price of $110.
My neighbor also recommended him for window cleaning and John quoted me a price of $145 for 35 windows.  Again, a fair price.  Later, he indicated that the windows had a lot of paint splatter and that would consume an additional hour or so and asked for $40 more.  Again, that seemed reasonable so I accepted the total quote of $185 for my window cleaning.
John arrived on Saturday afternoon just as I was leaving for an appointment and proceeded to work on the windows.  Since I was not home I could not observe the work done.  He did call me when he completed the work, 4 hours later, and asked that I come to check the windows and pay him.  To the touch you could feel that the windows were cleaner and that much of the paint splatter had been removed.  However, later that day, once the sun shined on the windows, it was clear that paint remained on the corners of the windows and that some windows may not have received any attention at all.  Worse yet, I could see permanent scrape marks on my windows, as though someone was cutting them.  When I called John he stated that the scrapes were probably already there ( that was incorrect) but that he would come by and see what he could do.
Naturally that was the last I heard of John from FL Best Pressure Cleaning.
Unfortunately, once I had my neighbors recommendation I did not look this person up on Angie's list or anywhere on the internet.  And guess what, they aren't listed anywhere.
Lesson: Don't hire this company nor hire anyone that isn't on Angie's list.

    Johnny Under Pressure
John and his helper, Paul, did a great job cleaning away all the mildew from this summer's rains. His pricing was quite fair based on other estimates.  John arrived on time, was quick and thorough. John was courteous, friendly and handles his business in a professional manner.

I will definitely use Johnny Under Pressure again and will recommend him to others.

After finding them on this list, I spoke with Janis and discussed our needs. She was very helpful and made the suggestion that I submit a copy of our survey to help them prepare. Since I keep multiple copies of surveys around for just this purpose, I thought it was a great suggestion. I admit that when it comes to fax machines I am technically challenged. I was able to fax out a description of the work and survey, but had to ask them to mail back the estimate. They were more than accommodating. The estimate I received was clear and detailed, in fact I received one estimate for the repairs and another to re-do the complete driveway. They also sent a copy of the survey marking off the areas that needed work. Since our plans at the moment are tentative we decided to go with making the repairs. Their suggestion to redo the entire driveway was understandable, it is probably the correct one, but as described before my plans are tentative. Once they received the deposit, we were called and the job was scheduled. It was done in one day. Except for the obviously improved driveway and the barricades at the entry to prevent use until the everything had cured, I could not tell they had been there. They did a very good job and we mailed them the balance we owed them. In about 6 months time, we will need to have them come back to re-seal the repairs.
