Anderson's Custom Concrete & Pavers LLC
I had an appointment for 10:30am scheduled days ago. It's now 10:53 and they are a no-show. Called and the phone just kept ringing. No call, no cancellation. I will not be using them as a contractor. Completely unprofessional.

    Housman's Aluminum & Screening Inc
New lanai completed in May, 2015. Within 4 months an 8' crack appeared in the concrete pad. Upon inspection, Housman's representatives said they had experienced similar cracks in three recent installations and didn't know the cause but felt the pad would not crack farther. Within the next year we had a total 45' of cracks. Lanai is an eyesore and a liability instead of asset. We decided it must go and made what we felt was a generous offer to satisfy both parties. Housman's consistently, in writing, misrepresented or misstated our offer and declined to do anything more than caulk and paint the cracks. We are now under contract with another company to demolish our lanai and build anew. Extremely disappointed!!

    Malabar Products Corp
We closed off our back porch under existing roof to create another room in the house, under air. Their planner came out to see the area and made some helpful suggestions. Then Marty, the planner, came up with plan and price later that week. The job required a concrete contractor to build a knee wall and he was excellent! Then Marty returned for final measurements to order window and door units which were expertly installed several weeks later. Tom, owner of Malabar Products made sure all details were correct and the project was all done to code with a proper building permit. This not only very useful extra space it has added value to our home.

    Quality Paver Services
Grade: A+. Larry Hall, the company owner visited with us twice to assess the job and review his proposal. He is always polite, professional, very knowledgeable and communicates frequently. We agreed to a price and a start date. Larry's men began work on the promised start date. Demolition work was done by Eric using a skid steer loader. He is nothing short of a maestro with it, Our driveway was two inches thicker than anticipated but Eric dealt with it with ease. One area of our driveway was 12 inches thick (an unexpected surprise) which broke Eric's equipment but he had it repaired and was back on the job in a few hours. Of special note was the concern shown by Eric for our sprinkler heads which sit inches from the driveway. The demo work generates large amounts of broken concrete which were deposited in dumpsters delivered by Tim from Express Roll Off. Another highly qualified professional who showed great concern for our lawn and sprinkler heads. Tim also delivered the crushed concrete which forms the base for the new driveway. He took special care to ensure the loads did not spread out into our grass as they were dumped. Following demo work, the pavers were delivered in increments over three days. The lift vehicle used has to drive on the lawn but it has wide tires so no damage resulted and the drivers were very attentive to our sprinkler heads. Larry's crew showed up and did a beautiful job of installing our pavers and edgers. Had two small issues. Rain-hey it's Florida, and they ran short of edgers which delayed completion for a couple of days until an additional amount was delivered and set. The work is just a pleasure to look out. Perfectly straight lines, symmetrical curves and exquisite attention to detail. Throughout the job Larry's two assistants, Dylan and David appeared as needed and handled the irrigation pipe issues, did some concrete cutting work, removed excess pavers to keep our lawn from developing patches, cleaned the job site (immaculately), laid some sod along the driveway edges and tore out and replaced a small patch of concrete. Polite, capable and thorough are good descriptors of them and the work they did. We are very pleased with the quality of the work done, the price and the professionalism of everyone on the job site and especially with Larry. He understands the most important thing for a good contractor-communication. He was on the job every day and communicated by phone and text to answers questions and keep us informed of what was going to happen each day. Lessons learned: 1. Mark the sprinkler heads with surveyor flags. I did this ahead of time and it worked wonderfully. If the workers know where they are they will diligently avoid them and any damage that could result. 2. Quality Paver Services was the only company that included irrigation repair and sod installation as part of the job. Other bidders stated this will be billed as extras to the contract.

    Advance Contracting Services
Our existing master bathroom with walk-in shower was completely gutted and rebuilt from scratch.  The demolition work started as scheduled and was completed is about 1.5 days.  New concrete wall board was placed in the shower stall and the shower drain was moved from near the front of the shower floor to the middle of the shower floor.  This required some jack hammering of the existing concrete slab in the shower.  The shower outlet pipe was also raised about 8 inches.
Sub-contractors were used for the plumbing work and the tile work.  New tile was installed on the bathroom floor, shower floor and shower walls.
I had to purchase all require materials to be installed including; tile, tile grout, vanity cabinets, vanity top, toilet, shower valve, sink valves, floor molding, etc.  The only material that I did not purchase was the thinset for the tiles.
Overall the job went very well.  Ken was very good in providing job status and time of day that work would start.  If he or a sub was going to be a little late he always let me know.
The entire job took 2.5 weeks which was pretty close to the estimate provided at the beginning of the job.
The bathroom came out great with no issues to date.

    Modern Concrete Designs

The job was done by only one person, Victor.  He was very prompt and liked to start early in the morning (7:15).  He was courteous and very good at explaining the process.  He showed us pictures and samples of the paint colors and stamps so we would know what it looked like when it was done. All-in-all he did a good job. I'm an engineer so to my fault, there were some area I believe could have been done a little better.  Being in Florida, and it being July, it was quite hot.  So he could only apply about a 8-10 sq. ft. area of concrete overlay at a time because he had to stamp it with the pattern before the concrete started to solidify. As a result, the transition areas where each application of the concrete overlay meet with the previous one, did not turn out as smooth and transparent as I would have liked. When I mentioned this, he did make an effort to sand any rough transition area down but buy this time the overlay was hard and difficult to work with.  This was only in two area.  the reminder of the deck and patio was fine.  Again, my wife is thrilled about the new look.  We have grand kids over constantly and the overlay surface paint is a non-skid type of texture so this will prevent slipping. I would definitely recommend Modern Concrete Design.

    Property Renovations & Construction

I called PRC and Brian Haire came the next day.  I explained to Brian what I wanted and what I could afford. I am a single mother of a toddler who has several disabilities and I have limited financial resources.  Due to my circumstances I was not able to afford the entire project (adding a new room to my house and turning it into a sensory room for my child) even though he was giving me an amazing price.   Within days, Brian got back in touch with me and he told me that through his group, Random Acts of Jesus, he was going to be able to build the sensory room for my daughter and that they would donate the difference.   I was so surprised and grateful! What a blessing! They did an incredible job in a timely manner. So imagine my surprise when the work is almost done and I'm asking them when I can go ahead and pay them, and Brian Haire, the owner, surprises me again by letting me know that everything is free and they wanted to give this gift to my daughter.  This was last October and to this day I become overwhelmed with tears of joy when I share the story because we have been so blessed to know Brian and his crew. If it wasn't for him I would've never been able to afford the sensory room for my daughter, which she enjoys every day.   In addition, I was able to then buy the equipment for her to fully enjoy that sensory room with the money I saved. (I bought a ball pit, swing, trampoline, projector, crash pad, etc.) So again, I want to recommend this company not just for their professionalism, ethics and hard work, but also because of the amazing human beings that they are. I will always remember Brian Haire for his random act of kindness.

The entire crew was polite, kind, professional, easy to talk to and hardworking.  They cleaned after themselves, they worked around my schedule, and they did it all with a big smile. The quality of their work shows.  Do I recommend them? YES!!!! You will be happy that you called them.  Thanks again Brian and PRC!!!!
