Home Security System reviews in Venice

    American Wireless Alarm Inc
When we decided to place several surveillance cameras around our home, we interviewed several companies. Bart from American Wireless Alarm, Inc.made what we felt to be the best and clearest presentation and answered all our questions. American Wireless Alarm's price was also very competitive. The installers of the cameras were very knowledgeable and did a very clean job. Once their work was complete, Bart reviewed all the aspects of the system and helped us set up the computer, TV, phone and iPad for viewing the cameras live, as well as reviewing videos that are recorded whenever motion is detected. One very nice feature of American Wireless is that their personnel are always there to answer questions and offer assistance AFTER the installation is completed. We wholeheartedly recommend American Wireless Alarm for excellent and honest service.

    Frontpoint

The system representative helped me identify the necessary equipment and had it shipped to me.  I liked that I was able to install the equipment myself instead of having a service technician come to the house.  The installation was quite easy.  It came with very clear instructions.  Once the control panel and sensors were installed, I called them back per the instructions.  They walked me through the final stages of set-up.  They determined the control panel was not responding appropriately and sent another one right away.  I really appreciate that the call center is based in the US and manned by people who speak English as their first language.  By setting it up myself (with their thorough instructions and assistance from the call center), I felt I got to know the control panel much better than if someone else had set it up.  The $44.95 per month subscription fee also seems reasonable.  I also received a discount from being a member of Angie's List.  I would definitely recommend them to others.  I also feel that if I wanted to add additional equipment to my service, Frontpoint's knowledgeable call center would be able to help me with that easily.

    SimpliSafe Home Security
I first tried the system in my condo in preparation for moving into a new house where I wanted to use the system.  Our builder had included a security system in the house that was completely satisfactory, however the contractor also provided monitoring for $25 which required a land line (add $20 for that and not as secure) or about $40/month for a cell phone connection.  The Simplisafe system supplies the cell monitoring for $15/month.  They supplied the equipment and have been very available via phone to help me with the installation. They even emailed me that the system was not working (this during the transition while moving from the condo to the house).  I hope to tie both systems together so that the Simplisafe system can monitor the builder's system. This is in the research phase, so if anyone reading this knows how to do that, I would appreciate some feedback. (gleatherbury@gmail.com)

    Guardian Protection
It's a full system with a call to the emergency and police if that's necessary. The entire interior of the house is wired. There is a motion sensor inside. The service fee is about $50/month. I would certainly like to see better pricing here. I haven't had any problems yet though!

    Guardian Protection
My husband has a United States Social Security Disability Impairment code #2940 wherein he has a combination of Tourettes Syndrome and Aspergers Syndrome and he also has a sub Classification of 123.34 (verbal) Intermittent Explosive Disorder where he has documented proof that he is not a danger to himself or a danger to anyone that he talks to.  Every single time he talks to anyone whether it is on the phone on in person he always states the term called Reasonable Accommodation which in the US government is known as Title 111 of the ADA which is a federal law called the Americans with Disabilities ACT and the DOJ (Department of Justice) is responsible for any Title 111 violation no matter how minor or severe any company who violates a person civil rights while disabled is subjected to either sanctions or criminal penalties by the DOJ.  You would not believe the amount of people he comes in contact with that either think he is trash or unintelligent when he tells people what his US Social Security Federal Disability is when he has outbursts intermittently on real or perceived provocation and those very same people violate his civil rights when they state that they do not have to put up with his language as that is his disability.  Now that brings me to the people at Angies list, most likely you have not heard of such a thing.  So check it out as I am copying this review and if it does not get posted that Guardian Protection Services violated my husbands civil rights at least with ten calls and with the letter he sent Guardian with his Reasonable Accommodation statement which by law he must say to everyone before he can continue talking and legally there is only a few ways that anyone can respond back to that statement which has to be legally something to this effect "What is your reasonable Accommodation?", then I have other avenues where I can post this very same review.  There is Zero tolerance for disability discrimination when it concerns my husband.

We ordered an additional key chain remote. I particularly like that I can go to the system and look at the event logs that tell me when it has been on and off. I like this because we can add to it any time.

The monthly service price is amazing. I never thought we would be able to afford an alarm system after hearing the outrageous prices my neighbors were paying.

When I researched this, I went to Angie's list first and then branched out to look at all the others. Hands down this is the best!!!!!!

    Frontpoint

I narrowed our choices to FrontPoint and 1 other company.  The main differences came down to installation (I do it or they do it) and price.

FrontPoint does no installation.  They provide instructions and have website and phone assistance.  They looked at this as a positive due to not having someone come into the home, but I was not sure.

After a lot of time on the phone with the sales force, and talking to a neighbor who used their service, I decided to go with them.

It was an easy installation.  There was no drilling of holes in the home.  It was just a matter of where we wanted the devices placed and what kind of devices to use.  The sales force was very helpful in determining the devices.  Rather that use sensors on all

doors and windows, they recommended using motion detectors and glass breaking sensors in strategic places and it saved me a lot of money and I think made the home more secure.

We have not had one hitch in the installation and subsequent use of the system and are very happy with it.

    SimpliSafe Home Security
After failing to get phone or internet service set up for my vacation home in time for the property closing, in desperation I purchased a SimpliSafe alarm kit from Amazon.com. I received the next day and packed it in the suitcase for my trip. Because the SimpleSafe base system uses an included cellular phone, it is a self contained system that cannot be bypassed by thieves cutting the cable or phone line. The system was as easy to install as it appears in the video on SimpliSafe's website. Because I did not have internet at the vacation home, I waited until I returned home to register the system, only to find I was supposed to put it into "test mode" to activate it. I got a prompt response when I emailed SimpliSafe about the problem and was able to work with someone on the phone to activate the system.
The system was more expensive than some of the alarm system alternatives I considered, but when you figure there are no installation costs, you do not have to pay for cable or phone to use the SimpliSafe system, and the basic monitoring service is only $14.99/month, it begins to look like a good value. Plus it works perfectly out of the box.

Very well. I had the electricians out three times for the various jobs listed above and they were on time, neat, very knowledgeable, and pleasant. They sure know about electricity!
