Driveway Pavers reviews in Tamarac

    Montgomery's Quality Painting
Jim did a superb job of gently cleaning our house exterior, adding life to the paint job that is now almost 10 years old. He seal coated our old asphalt driveway. It now looks like something our car can be proud to be parked on! Jim is licensed and insured, and that is extremely important to us. Mr. Montgomery runs an honest and fair business, and we always feel assured that his job will be excellent, neat & clean, and done to perfection.

The company was prompt to give me an estimate and they were punctual for the starting time.  They also did a very good job of removing the little patches of grass that were just starting to show in a few of the cracks.  Probably the most impressive service was the edging of the bordering lawn area with a hand held circular saw... brilliant idea.  The crew worked consistently and conscientiously.  So far, so good.
The very next day after the resurfacing, white lines were showing along the cracks in the asphalt!?!  I had not seen this before when I had our driveway resurfaced in the past.  So, I waited a day and another day to see if they went away.  They didn't... and of this writing, they were still there until yesterday (04/05/2016... 11 months later) when we had Collegiate resurface our driveway.  The lines are not evident today, one day after Collegiate's service.
I did call Allied when the white lines stayed visible and the person I talked to said they would come out and see what was happening.  They never did.  Or, if they did come out, they never contacted me about it.
Things happen in real life.  But it is what you do about it that makes the difference in how the incident is perceived.  In my case, nothing was done about it.  Hence, the D rating.  They had done so much of the job well but chose to make an empty promise at the end.  That and the white lines and the grass growing back through so quickly.  I can only surmise that the liquid used for resurfacing was on the thin side.  But that is only a guess.  It does explain what I encountered, though.
Why so late in my review?  I forgot who did the job until I wrote the check to Collegiate and happened to use the same checkbook from which I wrote the check to Allied Paving.  (I hardly ever write checks choosing to use my credit card instead.)
So, trying to be as fair and complete as possible, Allied had several good points but they failed on the one that counted the most... the resurfacing itself.  If it is too thin the job is a fail.  And if they do not respond to inquiries about the service, what does that say about their belief in what they do?

    Terra Tiles & Pavers
Very well. Javier was punctual and helpful through the quoting process. He was also very helpful for all of my questions during the paving process. The workers arrived on time and they were very professional. The job took 3 days to complete.
They cleaned up everything after completing the job.
    My driveway is beautiful.
I designed my own pattern for the driveway and the workers worked very close with me to achieve the design that I layed out.
I am very happy with the outcome.

He came to finish paving after a month of waiting, there is a crater where it has sunk in and it is bumpy he told me he would come back to put the final seal on and fix the holes he hasn’t been back. I have tried to contact him several times and he finally responded that be out in two weeks but that has come and gone and I have not heard from him.

Obtaining the permit was timely (it took between two/three weeks) before I was notified that they were available to re-surface the driveway. That morning the crew of about eight, with all their equipment, arrived early (as I requested). The old asphalt was totally removed, the rock underneath rolled down. Then, new asphalt was  distributed evenly, rolled, tamped, seared and finally extraneous pieces cleaned up. I was amazed that the entire process only took about 4-5 hours. The road was clean. I gave them their check before the driveway was inspected, because I could see it would pass and it did. One tiny portion of the edge where the driveway meets the road, needed to be repaired. They came by later and fixed it. Nice job.

    Father & Son Sealcoating
I was satisfied with the service. He was professional and he was responsive. He had to come back and redo a portion. He was good. Initially I was just going to do a seal but the driveway had cracked and he told me that the sealer would not be enough to fill the crack. He told me that we needed to apply an additional type of material to fill the cracks. The other thing that happened that kind of put me not at ease was he originally had given me a quote and I told him that I was gonna discuss it with my husband. When I told my husband the measurements, my husband said "No, that's not what it measured." We went out and measure it and called them and told that the footage is not correct. The quality of work was fine. He called me and kept me informed.

Artie was contacted 4 times for a quote; quote was never provided. Never called back until the 2nd request for quote; he said would quote, never did. Contacted for the 3rd time, Artie said he would provide quote by 1/3; never did. Contacted Artie for the 4th time (evening 1/3) said he would be out on 1/4 and I told him not to bother. If they can't provide a quote in time I would hate to see how long it would take to get the job completed. Signed contact today with another vendor (1/4/2014).

    SOUTH FLORIDA SEALCOAT LLC
Brian did a great job on my driveway. He was prompt in returning calls and didn't try to upsell me into a product or service that I didn't need. It was a bit difficult to schedule only because we had a bunch of days that called for rain. He was prompt and did a great job. I would recommend him to anyone who needs their driveway sealed.

    Handyman Connection-Palm Beach/Gainesville
I do not remember the price. He did not use good material because when he was finished there was a big spot that was a different color from the rest of the driveway. I left my car off of it for five days to make sure it was going to be dry. After that I drove my car on it, and I could see a tear mark. It is already cracked where he had filled it in after 6 months. I would never use them again.

    L&M Maintenance And Repairs
This small father and son business was very attentive and persistent in their desire to get our contract to reseal and stripe a church parking lot of considerable size.  Negotiations lasted for months as we were not in a hurry but they seemed to be hungry for the work.  Their original bid of $ 11,000 gradually crept down as they sought ways to trim expenses.  The other competitive bidders quoted with two coats of sealer.  L&M quoted with only one but said that was all that was needed because their material mix was superior.  The son, Al, mentioned several times that he was a deacon at his church.  I over-looked their ragged, disheveled appearance and  beat-up older pick-up truck as you can't always tell a book by its cover.  They impressed with their
apparent knowledge and persistent sales presentations which included sealing a sample area of the parking lot.  We finally awarded them the job.
They seemed to not be used to dealing with commercial accounts as they asked for almost half of the money up-front.  We
accommodated with $ 3,000.  They said they needed it for materials.  Most professionals we deal with have enough cash flow to get paid within 30 days of completion and submitting the bill.  Businesses don't pay bills every day.  Al Mitlo was told when I gave him the job that I was headed out of town for vacation in Alaska for two weeks and would return on September 24th.  L&M began the job while I was gone.  Only I can sign checks.  They estimated that they would finish approximately Saturday September 22nd, weather permitting.  I was to leave Alaska two days later.  However, while on vacation, I started receiving frantic phone calls from my staff that L&M had worked long hours, finished the job ahead of schedule, and was demanding immediate payment of the
balance.  I called Al and he repeated his demands to me, complaining he had underestimated the materials by $1,000 and threatening a $250 per day penalty for late payment which he said was fine print in the work order.  His polite, cooperative attitude had changed.  He said his sub-contractors were after him for payment.  I had to spend the best part of a vacation day arranging with our bank to get an additional $3,000 to him in one day even though I could not inspect the job to see if it was satisfactory.
These are the problems we run into trying to help out a small, under capitalized business.  They are operated on a shoe string and more used to dealing with individual private residences.
When I returned, I inspected the job.  The sealer seamed very thin but the appearance was very good.  The striping and painting was satisfactory except for a few missed spots.  I met Al at the church and he promised to complete the job immediately.  I gave him checks for the balance and he was back to being his polite self.  All's well that ends well but I did not appreciate the unprofessional disruption of my vacation.  Time will tell if the thin sealer withstands the test of time.  Their patching was good and so was their clean up.  They also corrected some handicapped parking spots to conform with code.
If you deal with them, read your contract carefully and make sure you understand what you are getting for your money and when payment will be expected/demanded.
