Hvac Repair reviews in Summerland Key

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • I am in need of evaluation, repair and/or replacement of six split unit heating/air units. The units are fairly new but my home is gutted and tarped due to Hurricane Irma ripping my roof off, dumping salty hurricane water inside my home and another month of leaks until I could get my home tarped. I have one estimate but the company is up in Tavernier and too far away. The units will have to be removed until the drywall and paint is done and then rehung and connected. That is why I' looking for a local company, they need to be near enough to work with the drywall guy, I already had an idea what needed to be done to repair/replace the units from the previous estimate. I called Ellington and was told I only had two options. 1) A free estimate where the guy would come out and estimate replacing everything, or 2) An estimate for repair that would cost me $99 a unit. When I reminded the woman on the phone that some of them are ok, they just need to be cleaned so I don't need all new units she started to set up an appointment for the repair guy. I said, again, I have six units and asked her if that would mean $600 just for them to come and look at them she said. "Yes." The next guy I called truly is local. He showed up in 20 minutes, told me which units can be cleaned and which need to be replaced and will get the estimate to me in a week. Ellington is not local in the Keys. They may have sent a guy down here to work, but they have no idea what we're dealing with post Irma, or they don't care. If you're looking for a new system they might be fine. If you're looking for post-Irma recovery work, call someone else.

  • My air conditioner stopped working on late Friday afternoon. Called McClain's Mobile Services based on the excellent reviews on Angie's List. The call was placed on Saturday morning at 0800am, Victoria answered the phone, was very nice, asked what the problem was and told me that Joe would be over this morning to take a look at it. About 0830am Joe showed up, was courteous and quickly got to work. He was able to quickly find the issue with the air conditioner and he had it running after a few minutes of working on it. He was honest and upfront about the shape of my old air conditioner unit, gave me suggestions and tips on how to keep it running. I am extremely satisfied at McClain's Mobile Services quick response to my emergency and for Joe's professionalism and knowledge; will definitely use them in the future for upgrading my aging air conditioner and recommend to family and friends!

  • We've had two visits by Core Mechanical.
One for diagnosis and customer approved temporary repair to allow time to acquire a replacement unit.
Second for replacement of faulty a/c unit.
Both occasions the service tech telephoned with expected arrival, and an updated weather delay.
Services performed quickly and with no difficulties.
    Costs were as quoted.
We were happy to provide a gratuity beyond the quoted price.
We would not hesitate to recommend Core Mechanical to anyone needing their services.

  • Bottom Line Up Front:  I would NEVER EVER hire or recommend this company again.
This review is based on two criteria.  That criteria are trustworthiness and competency.  Cool Aid Air Conditioning failed miserably on both accounts.
"1.  Trustworthiness:  Cool Aid Air Conditioning Services is lacking in ethics and will put the home owner under risk.  There was an issue with the electrical requirement.  At which time Cool Aid Air Conditioning Services brought on an unlicensed electrician to conduct work.  Cool Aid Air Conditioning Services failed to mention that the "electrician" did not have a license.  That action is in direct violation of Florida Statute 489.127 (1)(f).  The hiring of an unlicensed and uninsured tradesman (electrician) is not only a felony, but puts the home owner under at risk for liability insurance.
When I had learned of the electrician being unlicensed I confronted Cool Aid Air Conditioning Services at which time he attempted to play ignorant of it, which further demonstrates his lack of ethics.
    2.  Competency:  Failed inspection.  Failed to call for the inspection.  I ended up contacting the Monroe County Building Inspection office to schedule the inspection to schedule the inspection both times.  He failed the first inspection for the following items:
    (1) Wiring.  improper grounding wire.
    (2) Marking on Air Handler:  Did not properly mark the type of heating system.
    (3) Insulation of draining tubing inside the house or outside of house.
I had to make several calls to him to correct the discrepancies.  On each occasion he failed to show up as promised.  He finally responded after I mentioned that I will contract with another company and send him the invoice (basically legal action) for the additional work.  He finally responded, but only did minimal corrections.  He refused to finish the insulation on the outside drainage pipe stating it was required by code.  This is another error on his part, which further showcases his lack of competency.  All horizontal draining pipes require to be wrapped with insulation.  This was again pointed out by the Building Inspector on the second inspection.  In the end I had to contract with another HVAC Service provider to complete the work.
I would not hire this company.

  • Bottom Line Up Front:  I would Hire McClain's Mobile Services again and again.
Joe and Victoria were very delightful.
Joe does excellent work and Victoria is prompt in responding to calls.
I have retained their number for any future calls.
This review is based off of two criteria:  Trustworthiness and Competency.
    1.  Trustworthiness:  Both Joe and Victoria are professional and ethical.  They made sure all required permits were pulled and that all work was done in accordance with the building code.  They delivered on all promises.
    2.  Competency:  The installation of the Mini Split A/C unit was neatly done and passed inspection on the first go around.
He also identified and corrected issues on a Central HVAC system that was installed by a different company, which had failed inspection.  His competency and willingness to go the extra mile ensured that the Central HVAC system also passed inspection.

  • The sales process was great, however, the delivery and installation was a nightmare!  They damaged the range and it took ~ 3+ weeks to get it repaired.  The delivery and installation people appeared to be unqualified and from their attitude appeared not to care.  We watched as they unloaded the very expensive appliances off of the truck and they were very rough.  They could not figure out how to level the refrigerator doors and did not level the refrigerator or the range.

  • The customer service from the initial phone call to the timely and professional service that All-Rite AC has provided me. They are a Great "Local" company , highly recommended!

  • Our AC stopped working and we needing it on asap as we were installing floors.  Victoria picked up right away and said Joe would be out in the morning.  Joe arrived within an hour, checked out everything and determined the capacitor needing replacing.  He had everything done and nicely cleaned up within one hour.  He saved our day.

  • They came to the house 30 minutes after calling about a broken air-conditioner. This was about 7:00 in the evening. He was able to find the problem and repair it in approximately an hour. I was very relieved that they could fix it, without replacing the compressor. Great service and very professional. I feel the price was fair for an evening service call. Thank you Jason Daniels.
