    Ibis Painting
Based on their positive online reviews we contacted IBIS to quote a small interior paint job and our front entrance door. Initially Timothy Spence was very responsive to our inquiry. He came to our house on Wednesday 10/3 and gave us a $795 proposal based on us supplying the paint. When we gave him the go ahead he told us that they might be able to do the job as early as Friday 10/5 or the following week. He said he would call by Friday to confirm the work schedule. When we did not receive a call or email from IBIS we called and left messages on 10/10 and again on 10/12. Next we sent emails on 10/14 and 10/17. We never received a response.

    Levitsky Furniture Repair LLC
I was amazed at the responsiveness of Mike Levitsky. He returned my call within 30 minutes, then picked up my chair in St. Augustine the same evening. Two days later he brought my repaired chair back, and I couldnt even see the damage. Its clear he takes great pride in his work. Im so glad I saw his ad in Mint magazine!

    On Point Carpentry, LLC
Rob met us at one of the showrooms to look at all the overwhelming choices. We did not find any stone that we really wanted for our dream kitchen. He traveled with us to 2 other showrooms and kept patiently explaining what type of stone (Marble/granite, etc) until we finally settled on 2 choices. He sent us a price quote on both within 48 hours. When it was time to get the measurements he was at our house at our appointment time. Later that afternoon he sent me pictures of the stone marked where they planned to cut so I could see exactly how it would look and either agree or ask for changes. 48 hours later they arrived to install the granite. We have a huge island (7'X4') and a "L" shape kitchen cabinet layout. For the back splash they matched the design so that it appears it is one continuous pattern. It is beautiful. This is my 3rd time working with a fabricator and no one has come close in time and attention. In addition, the overall cost of the stone, fabrication and installation was less than I expected.

    FCC - Florida Certified Contractors
Refused to bid on the job. Emailed them 10/26. Representative Michael (nice and professional) came on 11/1. Promised estimate within a week. Several emails and at least two unreturned phone calls later, it is now December 11 and my last email query was responded thus: "I'm sorry but we are not going to be able to bid one this" (sic) Would have been nice if (a) this decision was relayed to me earlier, and (b) if a reason were given (would have made me feel better about it).

    Quality First Painting LLC
We were contacted by Justin, the owner of Quality First Painting to set up the appointment and everything went extremely smooth and right on schedule from there. Justin did a fantastic and high quality job and is very fast. A very pleasant, polite young man where you can really sense that he is a true professional in the way he conducts business, with his punctuality and the workmanship he delivers. Tremendous value for the money. Quality First Painting comes with our highest recommendation Kirsten and Michael

    Claudettes Decors
I was looking for Hunter Douglas window treatments, did not want to go the big box store route, and found Claudette through Angie's List.  I was initially going to get three quotes, but after meeting with Claudette we decided to go with her since we wanted to move forward quickly.  We were also sold on her professionalism and it was a pleasure to work with her.
She provided exactly the Hunter Douglas product I was looking for and also offered a less expensive but still good quality option for another room.  We are very happy with the end results.
Claudette is very professional, personable and has a wealth of experience with window treatments.  The installer she sent to put up the blinds was also very experienced and a hard worker.  I cannot comment on her prices because I did not get other quotes, but I would recommend her to anyone.

    House Doctor Construction LLC

Painting took much longer than they indicated it would, had to come back multiple times to paint areas that they missed or had done poorly, mediocre job at best, and worst of all they used tape on our hardwood floors when they put down drip paper that stripped the finish off of the floors!   Now having to refinish them to repair the damage.

The "project manager" who has no project management skills whatsoever, rarely if ever showed up for meetings at the agreed upon time, and we constantly had to re-answer questions from her that we had previously answered in person or by email.

When they came in to redo the electrical in the rental apartment downstairs, they put in wall plugs without asking, which now have to be moved based upon our remodeling plans.

Paid them $1,500 for "blueprints to submit for the remodeling permits", and what we received were nothing close to professional grade.

We asked them to put together bids for replacing our old interior doors and front windows, and had to ask multiple times to see the breakdown on their proposed pricing; when we finally did receive a breakdown we saw immediately why they were balking at giving us the detail as they had marked up the windows and labor by 40% profit.

    We fired them that day.

Bottom line, they didn't do what they said, they did shoddy work, and they stepped up to do things that they had no experience doing.
