    Stay Away From This Practice. I relied on Eye Site Tampa Bay as my only source of optometric services for over 30 years, but no more. For all of these years I was able to rely on the doctors at Eye Site Tampa Bay to work with the optical shop to get my glasses made per required specifications. That all ended this year. This year I got a new prescription from an Eye Site doctor and went to their optical shop with the prescription. The optical manager was instructed of the specifications that were needed to be added to the prescription. After wearing the new glasses I complained of eyestrain. The optical manager said the problem was my eyes not the glasses. He set up an appointment with Dr Knauf, an ophthalmologist and a corporate officer of the practice. I expected Dr. Knauf would work with the optical shop to get the glasses to meet specification as previous doctors have done. Instead he said that it is unknown if new glasses will make a difference. He said the eyestrain was due to my cataracts. The Eye Site doctor that gave me the initial prescription said my cataracts were not ready for an operation. Dr Knauf recommended a cataract operation which would cost me $3000 out of pocket. He also said I would need to lie by saying I was seeing halos. If not, Medicare would not pay their portion of the operation and my out of pocket would be even larger. After meeting with Dr Knauf, I personally measured the specifications on my old and new glasses. The new glasses did not meet any of the specifications in the old glasses. The optical manager had conveyed the wrong specifications to the lab and repeatedly lied to me that all specifications were met. I asked for a refund on the glasses. Dr Knauf said he was unfamiliar with the refund policy although he a corporate officer of the practice. The optical manager said, per company policy no refunds allowed for any reason. For 30 years Eye Site Tampa Bay has produced glasses for me that met the same specifications. Now they take my money, over a $1000 for three sets of glasses, and produce glasses that do not meet specifications. Also they will not give me refund for defective glasses. I went to another local practice and got new glasses produced which meet all specifications. Now I have no eyestrain nor any symptoms of cataracts. But I paid over $1000 to Eye Site Tampa Bay for glasses that I can not wear. Patients Beware.

    I had double vision that is why I had to have surgery. The double vision is gone, but I am having more trouble with my eye. Overall it wasn't that good. I didn't have the problem before. The office environment is very good. I am not happy with the communication. They have several doctors, so I would consider using the other doctors for other areas.

    Dr. Robert Weinstock is very nice and personable. I saw him for 5 minutes and got the clean bill of health. However, the pre-treatment of the patients, delay, moving to 3 different rooms, trying to do a test that was not covered, and the lack of caring about our time leads me to start thinking that next year it's time to go elsewhere.

    Glasses for night driving......easy purchase, cost reasonable.

    I've used Dr. Dennis Ryczek as my eye doctor since I moved to Florida almost 4 years ago. There are two doctors in the office. Dr. Ted Ryczek is his father. I've been very happy with the service and professionalism by Dr. Ryczek and his staff. They know how to bill my insurance company and I never have to worry that they will erroneously send the bill to me.
