I have been seeing Dr Portnow now for 10 years and I am 100% satisfied. Before him I was going to a Dr Aprill who apparently was a good doctor but if he spent 5 minutes with me in his office (filled by the way with Mickey Mouse collectibles which I thought was very odd) I was very lucky! On the other hand, Dr Portnow is a very caring doctor and yes sometimes you have to wait longer in the waiting room to see him but that's because he spends as much time with his patients as they want and does not rush people like other doctors do to see how many patients he can see in one day. I like the attention he gives each patient as he doesn't simply talk to them for a few minutes and move on to the next. He actually spends as much time with his patients as needed and he has spent up to 20 or more minutes with me most times I see him. Luckily I don't have any major issues but he takes the time to go over everything - lab results cat scans, etc. The way I look at it is that when I am scheduled to see him I don't plan to do anything else until I am out of there. Plus this man takes his job extremely seriously. He's there at 8AM or before and doesn't leave to go home until at least 8PM maybe longer. Many times I've seen his black car still there late at night. Plus he works on his patients'cases on Saturdays. This is NOT a 8-5 job for Dr Portnow but a job that he takes very seriously and it shows that he cares about his patients. If you want to see a doctor and not be treated special then go to someone else but if you want a very caring professional medical man then Dr Artur Portnow should DEFINITELY be your choice. Plus I must mention his very able (and I must mention beautiful) assistant Tara who has been with him for many many years. She is not only lovely but has a tremendous personality and is very knowledgeable and always extremely pleasant and willing to help and, like Dr Portnow, never rushes patients!!

The office does not call to remind of appointments, though they say they do. They do not call with results of labs. You must call them. The wait is long (45 minutes) once in the office. The only thing the office does is Urology, and they lost my urine sample and it had to be collected again (days later). On a follow up appointment. I signed in, made eye contact and waved to receptionist who waved back and said "hi". Then 45 minutes later as a patient and his wife were leaving and saw me waiting, they told me, "Do they know you're here? They are talking about a person who missed their appointment." Sure enough, the woman I waved to laughed that she was so busy she forgot me!. I was the only other patient there! She was not busy. Doctor Bregg was unapologetic. I expressed my frustration. He said it was fine for me to find another doctor. So that is exactly what I am doing and suggest everyone does! Do not go to this office.

I'm pretty satisfied with him. He takes a lot of time with you, he is very thorough, and he is a doctor that listens to you. Their facility is very good, very clean, and up to date. He was a very pleasant man. It's always easy to get an appointment. He does have a big Spanish accent and sometimes I don't understand what he says, but he tries.

An amazing General Practitioner and a great guy! Always there for you in or out of the hospital. If he doesn't know something, he says so and refers you to someone who does. Not your typical doctor, much more laid back, easy to talk to and cares about his patients. Awesome office staff too! I feel blessed to have him as my doctor,

Horrific! He and his office forgot they put a stent in me which needed to be removed and therefore became infected, causing months of agonizing procedures and permanent damage to my urinary tract, prostate & kidneys. Dr. Kaplon is a nice guy but his office staff are horrible and they obviously dropped the ball, which ultimately is the doctor's responsibility.

Unprofessional! Be VERY careful! Their billing of insurance is incompetent and they do not take any responsibility for their mistakes. In these tough times, you would think he would make sure his staff bills the correct insurance of his patients. He is part of the Florida Digestive Health Specialists, Gulf Coast Cabal which is practically a monopoly with SMH and therefore quality, attention to detail and patient needs, suffer. SMH is great and I am working with them to have Dr. Kuperman sanctioned and his SMH rights revoked.

Dr. Rubin has never actually done an exam. BP and weight taken by nurse. He never listened to our hearts or performed an abdomen check or any other doctor duties.
This is truly an assembly line operation.  What meds do you need and that is about it. Not even sure if he knows how to use a stethoscope.
Then I tried to stay within the group but use another physician closer to home and nobody would take us because my guess is we didn't leave on pleasant terms. So we suspect some collusion was involved or perhaps we were blackballed.

Fortunately we have since found a real doctor in a different group which I recommend highly. Maxhealth where they actually gave us an excellent exam and this doctor actually had a personality something that had been missing earlier.

Also trying to renew your meds can very frustrating because of their slow response with requests made either directly be me or by my pharmacy.

My observation after moving to Florida three years ago is that it is highly suggested that you do your due diligence before deciding on your medical care.

I have personally known Dr. Thorpe for years so when my mom needed help with her hearing, starting several years back, I naturally thought of Dr. Thorpe. She has been amazing with my mom, just the kind of treatment you want for her! She is patient, kind, never in a hurry, and her staff is incredible! I would recommend Dr. Thorpe to anyone needing help with their hearing!

He is the most caring human being I have ever known. When my husband was dying of pancreatic cancer he came home without any charge. Their office is beautiful. I would tell a friend if they wanted the most caring, intuitive and internist in the world they should go see him. He really cares about all of his patients. When my husband died that last week was really bad because he died at home and in was in so much pain. Dr. Rick had given me his home phone number and I called him at 4 O'clock in the morning. He was here in 15 minutes and worked for two and a half hours to stabilize, to get my husband out of pain. He kissed him on the forehead, he kissed him goodbye. This is the kind of man he is. He is amazing, he's that way with all of his patients. My whole family goes to him. I would recommend him to anybody and everybody that I know.

Patient inquired for confirmation a mri procedure would be covered under insurance plan. The billing and insurance office of the medical group confirmed the procedure would be covered after they researched verbal commitment was provided to patient for co-pay needed only. The medical group misled the patient and scheduled the procedure knowing it would not be covered by insurance but did not info patient. Patient tried to resolved but billing dept was unwilling and the accounts payable aggressively went after patient.
