Tooth Extraction reviews in Sarasota

My husband is a patient of theirs. He is very happy with them. They are all very pleasant. They do good work and we are satisfied. They follow up well and have taken care of him. The office is nice. They call up and ask how he is doing.

After living in Cincinnati for over 40 years, my wife and I retired to Sarasota, Florida 18  months ago. In December 2012, she started having sensitivity on tooth #14. In January we saw the General Dentist, whom quickly offered a selection of two different Endodontist. After our prior experience in 2005, we chose the Endodontist whom used a microscope. A root canal on #14 was performed in January 2013. Even though the Endodontist listened to us about my wife's propensity for fourth canals (and one was found!), the discomfort and sensitivity to heat and pressure continued for months.  Re-treatment of the tooth was done in April 2013 where it was packed with medicine; re-treatment was performed again in June 2013. An apicoectomy was performed in August 2013 (where the gum is flapped back and the roots are cut). Five weeks later tooth #14 still felt as bad as when the whole ordeal started, but now my wife had neuropathy along the left side of her face and lips.  The Endodontist said the tooth had to be extracted. I had practiced Orthodontics in Cincinnati for 40 years and knew a bit about teeth.  The syptoms did not add up. Teeth, which have had root canals, and especially apicoectomies performed on them are not supposed to have feelings.  The Endodontist met with the General Dentist and they concurred that they would not go forward until my wife saw and ENT and sinus issues were ruled out. We got the appt with the ENT and had the C-Scan done. Nothing. Now the dental community in SRQ was convinced that my wife had to have the tooth extracted.
My wife said, "You know, we'll be in Columbus for 10 days later this month and have that one full day of appointments in Cincinnati - why don't you call Dr. Davies and have him look at it for me?"  My wife had a very positive experience with Dr. Davies in 2005 where, after being retreated for a root canal on # 15 three times, I asked Dr. Davies to look at her.  Immediately he found the fourth canal and solved the problem.  I contacted Dr. Davies regarding the current situation and he agreed to see her on the sole day that we were in Cincinnati.  He concurred that the symptoms did not add up and was concerned that extracting #14 would not resolve the problem.  He did some diagnostics - including cold, percussion, and heat not only to 15, 14, & 12 (she's missing #13 because of orthodontics), but also on 18, 19, and 20.  When he applied heat to #18 my wife went through the roof.  He was astonished to learn that the Sarasota Endodontist did not perform any testing with heat and no testing whatsoever on the lower teeth.  Referred pain is quite common.  He was quite optimistic that what my wife was feeling in # 14 was being referred from #18.  He made room in his schedule to fit her in at the end of the day for a root canal on #18.  He was even more confident when, after numbing #18, my wife's symptoms in # 14 were relieved. As he was doing the root canal, he found the tooth to be necrotic and was glad we didn't delay in having the procedure done.  The procedure was done quickly and efficiently.  His assistant was effective and even calming to my wife as the process continued, rubbing her shoulders and laying a blanket on her legs.  Gratefully, Dr. Davies warned us that there would be "pressure sensitivity" for up to two weeks and he overruled our decline of Vicoden (he knew we were traveling for 10 days). It was indeed needed.  The tooth throbbed for 6-7 days BUT there was NO SENSITIVITY TO HEAT. We were cautiously optimistic as the days went by.  About day 11 my wife was goofing around and impersonated an alligator and snapped her teeth shut much harder than she intended.  Her eyes lit up and she smiled.  She said, "prior to seeing Dr. Davies if I had done that it would have taken me hours to get my tooth calmed down. I feel great!"  We refrained from writing this review until we were SURE that the situation was resolved.  We cannot thank him enough for ending the problem that was ongoing for over 10 months, and, for not joining the bandwagon about extracting the tooth.  He has solved two situations for my wife.  We're trying to induce him to open a satellite office in Sarasota :))
We highly recommend Dr. Donald Davies and his staff for all you Endodontic needs.

Their strength is that they have all the specialties under the same roof, so they're outstanding at coordinating care. They're also very good. I'd especially recommend Drs Blisset and Guze.
The downside is that they're quite expensive.

Hopefully without offending anyone's religious sensibilities, I have to
share my feeling  that God intended Michael Pascal to become an
endodontist.  The fit is that perfect.  Dr. Pascal obviously loves what
he does and has the kind of understanding and control over the equipment
and techniques of his profession that I suspect only a few endodontists
have achieved.  I know to a moral certainly that Dr. Pascal has saved
two of my teeth that probably would have been lost in the hands of a
less skilled professional, and hopefully is on his way to saving a
third.  If you need an endodontist, climb any mountain and swim any sea
to get an appointment with this amazing guy.
I should add that his office is attractive and efficiencly run and his assistants
also seem to be first rate.

I have since been to Dr Jackson for cleanings, a wisdom tooth extraction and even a root canal. American Family Dental is a wonderful place, the staff and assistants are all smiles and it is obvious that everyone there enjoys their job. Dr Jackson worked with me financially when I lost my dental insurance during an employment change. Later that year he stayed late for me on a Friday afternoon because I needed a tooth pulled when he could have made me deal with the pain all weekend. His assistant even called me that Saturday to see how I was feeling. His office is technically savvy with animated videos that show what procedure is going to be performed and his bed side manor rivals Mother Theresa! Okay, maybe that is a little much but you get my point.
Basically, I cannot say enough good things about him and his staff. If you choose to use a different dentist you are making a mistake.

He's wonderful. I was in so much pain. He went in my mouth several times and he spent hours and it didn't hurt one bit. I had no pain. My daughter also used him and he is absolutely wonderful. I would use him again in a heartbeat.

Once you go there, you realize how mediocre the rest of the providers out there are. She's expense but the best.

Dr. Wheeler is very detail-oriented and an excellent communicator to the patient. I have been very pleased with the work he has done on my teeth. I have recommended him to several people.

He is excellent. His office is outstanding. I would not go to anyone else if given a choice. He explains everything well.
