    Affordable Window Systems
Well, not so great. Nick, sales, arrived promptly. Didn't need complete house, because new addition had been done. Assessed, gave 3 prices according to quality one would select from vendors offered. No literature given, only prices. Nick did bring a sample window on the most expensive window. Called asking for literature on each company, stated was going to send; waiting 6 days and counting. Don't even know how many windows this estimate was for. I placed 3 calls to Peter (owner) after he tried to reach me, unsuccessful.

    Storm Smart
We did this to provide increased protection in the event of a hurricane. We were pleasantly surprised with how much more attractive the new windows are. The storm shades also look great. Salesman Brad Beshears and all of the installers were outstanding to deal with. Our only complaint is that the office did not confirm the window install time a day or two ahead. We were surprised when they showed up a day earlier than we had expected them.

Clear Choice USA of SW Florida
Clear Choice was good to work with on this project. They worked around my schedule and situation for the installation. There was a quality problem with the sliding glass doors and they were quick to repspond to my call and started the replacement process quickly. However, they said it would take 4-6 weeks for the new doors it's now been about 8 weeks and I'm waiting to hear that the doors have been delivered so we can scheule a time to install them. I don't think it's Clear Choice's problem, but it is frustrating. We ordered Andersen windows thinking it was a good name and have been disappointed with the problem we've had.

    Impact-Ready Inc
Andy Mc Curdy and his team have been very responsive in providing an estimate.  Phone calls are returned. Andy the president visited personally to take measurements and describe his products and services.  I am now waiting for the windows to be fabricated and look forward to the installation.  I have high hopes based on the contact and dialogue that has been going on since I signed the contract.  As of now I would highly recommend Imapact Ready

    Affordable Window Systems
The entire experience was excellent. Peter was very easy to talk with, gave good advice and worked with us on the pricing. He answered all our questions honestly and completely. The windows and doors were delivered in a timely fashion and as promised. Polusa Construction did the installation. Greg and his team were very pleasant, professional, and cleaned up everything. We could not have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend Affordable Windows to anyone!

    Storm Smart
The Buying Experience--I seriously considered 3 different well rated vendors sourced exclusively from Angie's List. Storm Smart probably has the most professional approach although they were not quite the lowest cost provider. Their Sales Rep was Shelby Patterson and he was very thorough, was prompt in follow-up and, focused on "closing the deal" to everyone's benefit. I was out of state during the transaction. They visited the house, took preliminary measurements, provided numbered pictures of each opening so as to  minimize any likelihood of confusion. Shelby was very cooperative with respect to providing multiple scenarios for different ways to provide protection at different price points. While he wanted to provide a single overall cost number and pushed back a little on giving me itemized detail, in the end, he wanted the deal and provided the information I needed to make a good decision. As I said, I did not pick the lowest cost provider but a provider with a reasonable price and demonstrated performance during the RFP process that they would follow through. After the papers were signed, Storm Smart launches a veritable army of different people with differing responsibilities for each aspect of the job. Since they sourced the windows from a another local provider, the job got bifurcated into two installations--each occurring on the appointed day and no more than one day apart. The shutter installation team was on time, very professional, and completed the job quickly and left the premises clean. The window team was also very effective.
If I have a "Con" about the project it relates to the fact that the principle Rep, Shelby, dropped out of the picture the moment the contract was signed and the rest of the job involved calls and emails from too many people. Everyone was very pleasant, professional, and hospitable, but every interaction after the deal was signed kept involving new faces and names and I had a bit of a confidence issue as to whether anything would go wrong with all the hand-offs. In the end, it went well, however, the closing paperwork, satisfying the inspection, and getting the necessary final invoices and warranties has been painfully slow--still don't have the information. I think they do themselves a disservice by having too many different people in the chain from sales to installation--gives the consumer too much wonderment as to who is in charge.
The Product--The windows they installed are of good quality as are the shutters. As has been noted in other reviews, they use a simple, inexpensive locking system to secure the shutters in the closed position. As others have experienced, they are sometimes a little difficult to operate and I think Storm Smart would be wise to look for a better locking solution, particularly when having to close the shutters from an awkward position or high on a ladder.
Overall--I would, however, happily recommend this company. I think they delivered what they promised, on time and in a very professional manner. This is a good example of an Angie's List recommendation that worked well!

The Screen Doctor of Lee County Inc
Previous screens were extremely difficult to remove and replace, making it hard to wash screens and windows.  The Screen Doctor was the only company willing to come and look at the problem.  When I initially called they told me that it would be over 6 weeks before they could come and we went ahead and scheduled the appointment.  In the meantime I called several other screen companies.  Many didn't even return my calls and none would come do the work.  When the representative (don't have his card in front of me, so I don't remember his name) came out he "guaranteed" he could make screens that would fit.  We needed the screens within a few days and they were able to make them.  I picked them up from their office, rather than having someone come deliver and that saved me $50.  They had them ready when promised and the screens were easy to install and remove, as promised.
This company was up front about the timing of their visit and then they fulfilled all their promises.  I would definitely do business with them again and recommend them to others.

    Storm Solutions Inc
Solely based on Angie's List recommendations, I contacted Mr. Hawleys office. He was unavailable and I was referred to another person on his staff. My initial impression was that Storm Solutions was in overload and this conclusion was born out by a slow proposal, followed by the contact person going off on vacation and not telling anyone about my dealings. Because the AL reviews were so positive on Mr. Hawley, the owner, I pursued him and he was indeed responsive. I never got a good feeling that they, as a team, were not in overload and, while responsive, Hawley did not think "out of the box" about the options I was looking for--something I attribute to his being very busy. In the end, he was the high cost provider and I chose--mostly based on not feeling good about the ability of his team to respond--to take a pass on refining the proposal. I strongly recommend that anyone considering installation of windows and/or shutters get multiple proposals and insist on itemized detail of the parts of any proposal. Very competitive field, with prices that are comparable company to company and decisions may well rest in the end on a combination of price and service.

    Alufab USA Hurricane Protection
Alufab's Rep was Mark Hoppe who was a congenial person, although not particularly an aggresive follower of the proposal process. I did get several proposals although the process was interupted by his vacation and the need to diligently follow up on open questions. The company apparently had some internal email problems which made it harder for their sales personnel to be timely in responding. In the end, I chose another company, despite the fact that Alufab was the lowest cost provider. I was really looking for the combination of price, aggressive service, and flow-up. (Mr Hoppe never really tried to close the sale--it just kind of drifted away until I wrote him a thank you note telling him I had chosen another vendor.)
They scored well on price but fell short on the other metrics and this is a very competitive industry where the real differentiator seems to me to be end to end customer satisfaction. I would encourage buyers to get multiple proposals, to demand that you be provided itemized detail on various aspects of proposed solutions, and to judge the general responsiveness and interest in customer education as one proceeds. Don't get swayed too early in the proposal process with offers of discuonts and special deals--in the end, all vendors have flexibility.

    Windows Plus LLC
The staff was excellent and responsive. The installers used a laser to make sure the door was hung properly. They were extremely neat and cleaned the area when finished. We hired this company when 2 of our friends told us how pleased they were with their new hurricane doors and windows installed by this company.
