    American Gutter Inc
I tried to hire American Gutter Inc to repair a gutter and clean the downspouts. I was told it would be a few days before someone would be able to make it out to give me an estimate. The first week goes by and I hear nothing. I call and they say the estimate will happen in a couple days. Second week, same situation. I call again and was told someone will be out the next day. The person finally showed as there was a card on my door when I got home. I did not hear anything from this company for over a week. I call again. The rep says they are waiting on the person who did the inspection to write up his estimate, I will have it in my email in a couple days. Three weeks after the initial phone call, one week after the inspection, still nothing. I call...again. The rep gives the same excuse as before, still waiting on the inspection to be written up. One more week goes by, I call...again. The rep says he has the estimate in his hand and will email it immediately. Its now been over a month and that was the last I have heard from American Gutter Inc. I am done calling...again. I will give my money to a business that won't waste over a month of my time and has the decency to actually follow up with their would be customers. I suggest you do the same.

    Sunshine Roof Services LLC
Patched roof after hurricane until roof could be replaced. Came out when called, patched hole in roof until complete replacement could be completed. Worked our needs into their busy schedule. Job was completed as scheduled.

    Northway's Contracting
Very well. Bryan was the third contractor I spoke with regarding the job, and he was the only one who appeared to know what he was talking about and didn't try to price gouge me. I'd definitely hire again, and recommend him and his company highly.

    FCC - Florida Certified Contractors
Refused to bid on the job. Emailed them 10/26. Representative Michael (nice and professional) came on 11/1. Promised estimate within a week. Several emails and at least two unreturned phone calls later, it is now December 11 and my last email query was responded thus: "I'm sorry but we are not going to be able to bid one this" (sic) Would have been nice if (a) this decision was relayed to me earlier, and (b) if a reason were given (would have made me feel better about it).

    Sunshine Roof Services LLC
Sunshine Roofing was hired to replace my roof. The roof they put on leaked from the very beginning. When I complained, Sunshine Roofing attempted a substandard repair by applying a line of roofing tar to fix a major leak I had the roof inspected by a roofing engineer and I had to sue Sunshine Roofing to get them to honor their warranty. As it was, I had to pay half of the cost of materials to re-roof my house that was still under warranty. The following facts are not in dispute and I have photographic proof: Sunshine Roof was served with a lawsuit after they did not respond to my request for repair to my roof under their warranty Sunshine Roof and I settled to re-roof my house with me paying for half of the material costs (an outrageous cost to me to repair their work) After re-roofing the roof leaked again. Sunshine Roof replaced a large portion of the front of my house in 2016 to stop the leak. The roof continued to leak. In 2017 the roof leaked again causing damage to a large area of ceiling in my laundry room, corridor and kitchen Sunshine roof attempted to repair this leak. The repair work was so extensive that St. Johns County required them to get a permit. Once again, the repair was unsuccessful and the leak is worse than ever I know have to get a competent roofer to repair my roof and the interior of my house, as Sunshine Roofing is not capable of roofing a house. Use them at your own peril. You will be sorry if you use them.

    DON BAKER CONSTRUCTION
Horrible. He did not pull a permit (my bad for not making sure he did) and his workers (he was never on-site for the work) installed the railing balusters with 5-1/4" spacing in between, when code is 4" (my bad for not noticing this before I paid him; my condo HOA board was kind enough to tell me weeks afterwards). Both before he did the work and after, he was incredibly difficult to get a hold of; now I regret that he did call me back to get the work. After leaving him several unanswered messages about the issue a week before a holiday weekend, including the last message where I told him I was going to leave a negative review on Angie's List, et al, he finally called me back. He was irate that I would bother him while he was out of town on vacation (it was a Tuesday, 6 days before the holiday), refused to talk to me about the issue, and said he would call me back the following Tuesday when he was back in the office. Oh, he also said he didn't care about my leaving him a bad review on Angie's List, and said that Angie's List is for "people like you". Surprisingly, he never called me back. I hired another contractor to replace/add railing balusters so that they would be code compliant. Do yourself a favor, even if you have to pay a bit more and wait a few more weeks, hire a reputable and decent contractor, not Don Baker Construction a/k/a GuttersPlus in St. Augustine.

    Suncoast Roofing Services Inc
The roof looks beautiful except for the two further ends at the peak where there is tile that is missing, about 2-3 feet on each end. Nolan Smith (insurance specialist) told me that they were also going to replace the siding on the house as well. They have yet to do anything with the siding. They told me it was going to be $9800.00 and then they raised it to $11000.00. Then Nolan Smith told me that I owed him $1082.00 for his commission. Because of that, I bounced 6 checks at $35.00 a piece. I thought they were going to be decent but I am livid about this situation. All the work that they told they told the insurance company that they were going to do, they did not do. So they also jipped the insurance company. I would not recommend them to anyone.

He will not return my phone calls about this. He was incredibly difficult to get a hold of to begin with, and now I regret that he did call me back to get the work. Collis Roofing Inc
Collis Roofing out of Saint Augustine was the only (out of four?) roofing contractors that promptly took my call, scheduled an inspection, gave me a competitive quote, AND showed up to do the work. First of all, what good are great reviews -- which some of their leading competitors have -- if you can not get them to do any or all of the above -- specially actually doing the work. Second, I found their knowledge and workmanship as good as any , and their responsiveness and professionalism better.
