    American Gutter Inc
I tried to hire American Gutter Inc to repair a gutter and clean the downspouts. I was told it would be a few days before someone would be able to make it out to give me an estimate. The first week goes by and I hear nothing. I call and they say the estimate will happen in a couple days. Second week, same situation. I call again and was told someone will be out the next day. The person finally showed as there was a card on my door when I got home. I did not hear anything from this company for over a week. I call again. The rep says they are waiting on the person who did the inspection to write up his estimate, I will have it in my email in a couple days. Three weeks after the initial phone call, one week after the inspection, still nothing. I call...again. The rep gives the same excuse as before, still waiting on the inspection to be written up. One more week goes by, I call...again. The rep says he has the estimate in his hand and will email it immediately. Its now been over a month and that was the last I have heard from American Gutter Inc. I am done calling...again. I will give my money to a business that won't waste over a month of my time and has the decency to actually follow up with their would be customers. I suggest you do the same.

    DON BAKER CONSTRUCTION
Horrible. He did not pull a permit (my bad for not making sure he did) and his workers (he was never on-site for the work) installed the railing balusters with 5-1/4" spacing in between, when code is 4" (my bad for not noticing this before I paid him; my condo HOA board was kind enough to tell me weeks afterwards). Both before he did the work and after, he was incredibly difficult to get a hold of; now I regret that he did call me back to get the work. After leaving him several unanswered messages about the issue a week before a holiday weekend, including the last message where I told him I was going to leave a negative review on Angie's List, et al, he finally called me back. He was irate that I would bother him while he was out of town on vacation (it was a Tuesday, 6 days before the holiday), refused to talk to me about the issue, and said he would call me back the following Tuesday when he was back in the office. Oh, he also said he didn't care about my leaving him a bad review on Angie's List, and said that Angie's List is for "people like you". Surprisingly, he never called me back. I hired another contractor to replace/add railing balusters so that they would be code compliant. Do yourself a favor, even if you have to pay a bit more and wait a few more weeks, hire a reputable and decent contractor, not Don Baker Construction a/k/a GuttersPlus in St. Augustine.

    Goode Brothers Roofs and Gutters
The job was not a professional installation by any means. After the first rain I discovered all 6 corners on the gutter system leaked badly. The crew came back and sealed those corners, but I have since found other issues with leaks and proper pitch. Goode brothers website says they use a ping pong ball to test pitch to insure proper draining, but at no time did they use that method, I even asked them where their ping pong ball was and they looked at me like they did not know what I was talking about. I called and asked three times that one of the owners come out with the crew, but the crew showed up without the owner. I sent them away. I will fix what I can on the gutters and hire another company to correct the rest.

    Sunshine State Seamless Gutters
This company is amazing in every way.  Customer service and quality are amazing.  I had an unusual situation where the gutters in certain sections were "embedded" in the architecture.  They originally planned to do the whole thing Chris was concerned about disturbing the back gutters and just did the front and cleaned out the back and adjusted the price accordingly.  This was in May 2015.  After several months it  was obvious that the existing gutters on the back were not sufficient and needed to be the larger, like the new front gutters, and the downspouts needed rerouting.  I contacted them again and they thoroughly considered the need and made recommendations.  As they recommended, I had the old gutters removed and rotted wood replaced and ready for the new gutters which they installed in October.  They are very busy but worked hard to slide in my job and even came on a Saturday morning  to do the work.  They adjusted the final dollars due to  the original bid, even though they had to put new guards on the back gutters as the ones they put in May would not work on the new gutters.  Beverly, Chuck and Chris were all amazing to work with and I am happy to say the new gutters and the moving of the downspouts has made all the difference in the world and the back door is no longer flooding.  They are the best company I have ever dealt with, and a great family.  I highly recommend them.  They are not just an A rating, they are an A++.  I should also say that Chuck did the original estimate it it was much more detailed and thorough than the bids from the other companies and alerted me to issues which the other companies missed and their pricing was as good or better than the others too.  They were very busy and scheduled out several months but I waited because I could tell they were the best.

Extremely professional, friendly.  They were prompt, put up gutters and cleaned up afterwards.  I had a house number plate and asked if they could put it up for me.  Without hesitation he said "of course we can do that for you".  I would highly recommend this company to anyone.

    Handyman Matters of Jacksonville
I called Handyman Matters because of Angie's List.  I called on Monday, May 5th and set up a job for Thursday, May 8th, 8:30 am.  Handyman called night before & left message, confirming job, etc.  Arrived on time on Thursday.  From there it went downhill.  I have a single story house (what could that be--10 feet tall, perhaps?) and told the woman who scheduled the job that the chimney begins at the roof gutter and goes up 14 feet.  Handyman arrived with short ladder.  He managed to get another ladder from someone else in the area, but it was not tall enough either.  He kept reassuring me, after he called back to the office several times during the morning, that someone would get it fixed that day.  Then, at 10 am, I was told to call Dede at the office, the handyman couldn't do the work without a safety harness.  He left.
I called the office to speak with Dede and got voice mail which mentioned that they were on the phone, hence the voice mail, and they would get back to me promptly.  On Friday morning at 11 am, I called since I had not heard from anyone.  It was clear that not only did she not communicate with the handyman who came to my house, she also did not pick up the voice mail.  Said only her husband could do the work and he was booked until the end of the month.  When I booked this job, I mentioned that I was on a deadline.  I wasted an entire week on these people.
P.S.  While we were waiting on word back from the office, the handyman measured my shower as I did want that redone (at a later date, of course).  Needless to say, I won't be hiring this outfit to do anything.

    ArmorGuard Exteriors

The estimator Michael  Scantling arrived 1+hours late for the appointment claiming his boss sent him to Saint Augustine Beach instead of Vilano Beach.  He arrived with another man, but did not introduce him or indicate why the other man was here.  MS measured the house then walked to the back of the house, where I was swinging my 20 month old granddaughter.  He said he was going to the car to get some samples and would be right back.  In the meantime, Mike from  American Gutters showed up (on time I might add).  I apologized to Mike and explained that Gutter Cap had been late. He was very nice and said it wasn't a problem etc.

Michael from Gutter Cap came back to where I was with my granddaughter and showed me a drawing of the house and began his presentation.  I was still swinging my granddaughter and assured him I was paying attention, which I was.  I heard his spiel, then he asked me if I had obtained another quote and how much was it.  I told him I wouldn't give him that figure;  I wanted him to give me his best price.  A couple of times my granddaughter said Grandma and I would excuse myself and look directly at her.  She was in a baby swing and wasn't being distracting or anything.  At this point I asked Michael what his price was and he said about $2,100.00, about $11.00 a LF.  He went on to say that with Gutter Cap I would be getting a quality product, no leaks, 10 year warranty, blah, blah, blah.  Approximately 104 linear feet of gutters with 3 downspouts for nearly 3x the amount I've been quoted by other companies.  I coughed spluttered and told him I wasn't paying $2,100.00 for gutters and I don't know exactly what his quote entailed because at that point Michael became angry and said "you know what, this is not even worth my time", as he said it he held out his hand and I shook it and told him that I didn't appreciate being insulted in my own yard; told I wasn't worth his time, and told him to get off my property.  He was unprofessional to the nth degree, he insulted every other gutter company around saying their products were inferior to his.

I spoke to the owner and he was very nice, offered to come out and measure and present the quote but I declined, as Michael already quoted $2,100.00.  Their gutters must be solid silver...

    Sunshine State Seamless Gutters
We were very happy with the service we received from the initial proposal through the completion of the work.  Sunshine State Gutters when out of their way to match our existing gutters, paint and replace existing gutter parts so the entire gutter system looked great when their work was completed.  This is a family owned business and they treat you like family.  As a potential customer we think you will be very satisfied with their work.  They also offer a 10 year warranty which is much more than the other companies we received a proposal from.
