AFIX-IT PATIO & FURNITUREI took my 2014 VW Jetta GLI to get the headliner fixed. One of the main problems that plague VW’s is that the headliner will start to detach and fall off after a few years. I was also missing my rear passenger lights which didn’t come with them as the previous owner took them off so the car was left with a big hole in the middle where the accessory lights should have been. When I took it in to get it checked they gave me a quick and good estimate of how much it would be to get it fixed. They told me to leave the car that very same day and that I would receive my car the next day in the early afternoon. Just like that they kept their word not only were they quick but they were also professional, and courteous. When I received l my car they fixed my headliner better than new and not only was the headliner fixed and fitted like new, I also saw that they had installed the rear passenger light! They installed the original part from VW and it works just like new. They really take good care of the customer and they prove the quality of their work! ABahama UpholsteringSandy and Tim are the owners and are a great team. They are so nice and accommodating to your schedule. We have had cushions on lanai reupholstered. A few months ago we had all kitchen chairs, barstools, valances and accent chairs reupholstered. They come out and measure or you can take pictures and measurements for estimates. ABahama UpholsteringA superb job, from the quick, reasonable quote to repair the cushions while retaining their lovely covers, to finishing the job in two days. When I brought the cushions home and attached them to the chairs, alas two of them still creaked. I spoke to the owner, Tim Harvey, who said the problem might be in the chairs' cushion trays. I took them back the next day, and he and an assistant went above and beyond by strengthening their attachment with more screws and a brace on each chair. In other words, they corrected a design flaw. My wife says they are now perfection. Bravo, Tim, and Brava to his wife, Sandy, who facilitated this project.- Lee D.

ABahama UpholsteringTim did a GREAT job making the repair while we waited. Sandy was over the top helpful. I saw a stack of foam and asked if they sell one that is 30 degree angle as husbands doctor told him to pick one up at Bed Bath & Beyond. They said foam is expensive. It would have to be a special order. Sandy gave us a coupon for BB & B. If you want great customer service, friendly and honest people that do a WONDERFUL job go no place else but Bahama Upholstering. We sure will. Spread the word!- Sherry M.

ATru-Clean Surface CareI just bought a turnkey condo and wanted everything cleaned top to bottom. Tru-clean did a great job! The carpet and tile floors now look like new. Giuseppe provided an itemized listing of all of the services available so that I could pick and choose what I wanted (I choose most of them). So glad I had the mattresses cleaned; he had a light that detected urine stains (it’s like a CSI episode) which they removed. I highly recommend this company!- Lee S.

AFrom the quick responses to my emails addressing my concerns and easing my worries, to Mr. Gaugin coming to pick up the chairs working on regluing, fixing the gnawed part done by my dog when she was a pup, cleaning, and polishing the 2 antique chairs , to the office calling to let me know the scheduled pick up and return, I am quite pleased with everyone I encountered. AI ordered an Acrylic turntable cover for my new audiophile turntable - Dr. Feickert Woodpecker with Origin Live illustrious tone arm. I got the "floating cover", which sits on the top of the turntable plinth via 4 seating blocks. This cover is a beautiful work of art, literally could be used in an art museum display. it is very sturdy and extremely well finished. The pricing was very, very reasonable and I have never seen better or more secure packaging. Shipping was received as was promised and in a timely fashion. AExcellent job, highly recommend, we would definitely use Abernathy Finish Masters again. We bought our home a year ago and the kitchen cabinets were in excellent condition, but they were dark and we wanted white. This made it a major decision to have them refinished, since we were not fixing anything, just wished they were a different color. We couldn’t be happier. The cabinet finish is lacquer, not paint; the cabinets are perfect. Everything on the website is true, all the pictures are really from Abernathy’s shop in Fort Myers, which I recommend checking out in person, and all the photos on line of the process are exactly what my kitchen looked like during the process. All the employees involved were professional; each took his/her time to ensure everything was done perfectly.

DOur experience with S&W has been a prolonged nightmare. They show little remorse for huge errors, and their workers appear to be overworked to the point of constant errors on the job. From our first meeting to our unfinished punch list, there has been little care or sense of urgency about critical errors. I would however like to mention up front that our Foreman (Pete) was amazing and thoughtful, but unfortunately quit the project as it became out of control. I don’t know if he left the company as well, but I wouldn’t blame him as he is not given the resources to succeed. Pete was also never replaced, and no issues were dealt with once he left the project. I will outline most of the problems we had starting from the beginning of the project. Once we had our design consultations at the Longwood showroom, we had our meeting to go over costs and timelines. We were quoted 11 weeks to a completion. It took at least double that to even get close to substantial completion, and there are still problems to this day (1/13/21). For reference, this meeting was at the end of March of 2020. Our biggest issue with this build was that they mismeasured our kitchen from the start, and didn’t figure that out until well into the build process when they noticed the cabinets would not be able to fit as designed. Their measurement was off by OVER A FOOT. The only person that seemed to care about this was our foreman, and the cabinet installers. The management continues to just say our kitchen looks nice, but refuses to acknowledge that it is a major issue that it was not the kitchen we ordered. This mismeasurement caused our kitchen to no longer be centered on a window, and we had to completely shift cabinets around. To the credit of their craftsmen, they did a very good job with the compromises, but they were just as horrified as we were. There were also other problems with the cabinets that caused them to come out for multiple visits which I will detail below. To that end, there are still problems with the finish of the cabinets that remain to this day even though the company seems to think they are done with this project. Here is a list of other issues that happened during our build: -A wall was framed in the wrong place and I had to correct the worker as I happened to be home that day. That caused some issues with our ceiling cracking later on -They lost kitchen hardware that took about a month to re-order -When installing our appliances, they caused a gas leak that we had to live with over a holiday weekend -They damaged a countertop during that appliance install and did not tell us. The damage was so severe that the counter had to be replaced. -They scratched the floor when they repaired the gas leak, and that scratch remains as the wood floor was installed by a different company. -We had several plumbing mishaps that required numerous revisits by the plumbers -They severed a pipe for our outside water -The cover and protect process they used for our wood floor caused moisture to build up and the floor had to be replaced -They completely installed an incorrect door which took weeks of visits to repair and it remains unfinished (missing a strike plate) -We had service people and inspectors show up unannounced and unexpected -We failed an inspection as they got the county confused even after we warned them several times about our county as we live near the county line -During this process they have been very slow at communication (weeks to respond) -Some of our kitchen hardware already has coating wearing off My last email to the company was on December 8th. I received a reply about a week later that they were elevating our case to ownership, but as of today (1/13/21) it has been almost a month since, with no word from ownership. The issues with this company all seem to come from the fact that they are accepting more work than they can handle. Their workers are good craftsmen, but they were all exhausted, and were often coming to us as their 3rd job of the day. This also caused us a few late nights of construction. We felt so sorry for the workers as they were absolutely beat. The workers had a real drive to fix issues, but the company has been slow to respond to issues, and does not seem motivated in any way to compensate for delivering a kitchen that was not what we ordered. In conclusion S&W charges a premium for their services and I can even see how it could be worth the money if the workers were scheduled well, but in our case, everything fell through the cracks, and there seems to be little accountability. I cannot recommend the company at the price they charge as you will end up still having to essentially coordinate most of the project yourself, and at that point you might as well go with a company that doesn’t charge a premium price for a mediocre product.
