Auto Repair reviews in Port Canaveral

Been going here at least 15 years. Used to be the only shop I could trust but something has changed here recently. I put very low milage on my cars; 15K in 5 years. However, I keep the oil changes on the 3-4 schedule. My prior car started having mechanical issues and the shop would prioritize repairs so I could keep it in budget. My newer auto has not needed any mechanical so I've only used Midtown for oil changes and new tires. A few years back needed new tires. Have very expensive tires on this car. When they were replaced I wanted something that would get more mileage than 15K miles; they sold me tires with a 50K warranty. Last year they started wearing oddly. Car was aligned, pressure was correct, they were balanced. Rep said that they had dry rot. Took car in for an oil change and was called saying the tires had to be replaced even though they still had plenty of tread of them. Said that and quot;dry rotand quot; had set in. I mentioned my warranty and was told the company would only deduct a minimal amount. I asked about the cause of the dry rot and was told it was the weather and since I didn't keep the car indoors the dry rot would occur. Sure sounds like a bunch of bull to me. Next day went back to talk with the manager, Seth. He looked at the old tires and said there seemed to be a defect in the tires. He contacted Michelin and got me a 70% reduction in the new tires. I was a happy camper and sure wouldn't be writing this review if things hadn't gotten worse. Keep in mind, Midtown is the only people who have been under the hood of this car since I've owned it except for emissions inspection. A few days after the tires being installed and an oil change my windshield wiper fluid seemed to be empty. I opened the hood and a very large section of the engine cover was not there. I'm not really sure what these things do; perhaps decorative, sound proofing etc. It's definitely not mechanical but it was not there and made the engine compartment look weird. I called Seth asking if the item had been left behind. He had the guys look around the shop and said it wasn't there. He did offer to replace it. He said it would take a little time to find one. It was going to be replaced with a used one which was ok with me. I informed that I had moved out of state and if he could locate one in my general area I would arrange for pickup and install. Well, guess when Seth heard I had moved out of State there was no need to get my car pieces back to me nor follow-up. Given Midtown Tire seems to use and quot;dry rotand quot; as their excuse to sell new tires, holds back on warranty claims unless really confronted, and takes parts from cars; I really suggest giving the competition a try. Seems Midtown Tire has become just another business that is resting on their well earned positive reputation and figures they can make some money for awhile before things go downhill. This sure isn't the business it was even a year ago.

    Therber Collision Center

Mike is a true old fashioned professional. Repair was perfect and saved an otherwise great truck. I used this as a test case for his steel work and it came out so beautifully that I will be using them again to do the patch panels and other work on a 1929 Model A that I am restoring.

Gattos Tires & Auto Service of Melbourne
Excellent and expected such from prior work by Gatto's on my vehicles and
RV trailer. Gatto's, by the way while I was researching for a local tire
sales/installations dealers online, was rated 'tops' for being women friendly.
What's that tell you? In fact, the owner is a woman.
My first experience with Gatto's was five years ago. I took my like-new
vehicle to the local dealer for an oil change. I noted that one tire appeared low in pressure.
After the oil change, a mechanic looked at the tire on a lift. The service
coordinator reported back said that a screw was the culprit and the tire could
not be repaired since the screw was in the sidewall area. $175 would get me a
    new tire installed.
I called another tire dealer and their price was the same.
I tried Gatto's for the first time and their quote was $125 and the tire
would be there in the morning. When the mechanic started to remove the tire, he
noted that the screw was in the middle of the road contact area and very
repairable. The cost was $25. I became a regular then. Future tire repair was
free. Gatto's does tires, oil changes,  brakes, engines, transmissions, and
the works. I'm not sure to what extent so check with them first. I feel very
confident with Gatto's but still compare pricing if I know it will be expensive
... but must be considerably different to me to go elsewhere.

    Meineke Car Care Center
I called to se if they could look at my exhaust system first thing on a Friday morning and the manager said they could handle it, so bring it in. They looked at the car after a few minute wait and found the problem, a rotted-out resonator. Since the exhaust was original at 96,000 miles, they replaced everything from the Oxygen sensor on back with parts they had in stock. They took me back into the shop, showed me the problem, explained what they were going to do and invited me back several times to keep me abreast of the process. 3 hours later it was finished at a price less than originally quoted. I was impressed with their teamwork and professionalism.
