    ACME SERVICE
Larry had the two generators ready in 3 days and that includes 3 day labor day weekend. The generators performed flawlessly! I highly recommend anyone with small engine trouble to trust these guys to restore your unit to perfect running order. They are honest, dependable, trustworthy, and have a true concern for the customer. My 86 year old father and I have purchased Toro products from Acme for over 20 years and have never been disappointed with their service.

My old lawnmower was beyond repair, unfortunately. The owner suggested that I purchase a new one instead. Instead, I purchased a used one from him and am very pleased with it. The owner & his staff were helpful and friendly, and I will come here again for any necessary repairs.

    ACME SERVICE

I dropped my Mower and Weed Wacker off on a Friday, the mechanic said he was running a week behind, I agreed to wait the week because of the reviews I saw on Angie's list. My Mower was having a problem with not starting when hot, I figured if I was bringing in the mower I might as well get the Week Wacker tuned up as well.  I received a call saying they could not duplicate the problem and my mower was ready for pick up.  When I arrived at the shop and handed Larry (Owner) my two tickets he told me they could not find the problem with my mower and they had no problem  starting it when it was hot (to be fair I have used my mower once so far and it did start when it was hot).

When he found my Weed Wacker he informed me he did not recommend fixing it because it needed a new carburetor and it was not worth investing the money and I might want to consider buying a new one ( at the time my weed wacker was in pieces).  I told him it was running fine when I brought it in and all I wanted was a tune up, he looked at the ticket and said he saw where it was marked service on it but his mechanic was out of town and would have to get back to me because he needed to talk to the mechanic to get to the bottom of the problem.  He told me "don't worry, I will make this right".  I got a call why I was at work saying I was all set and I told him I would be down after work to pick it up.  When I showed up I got an invoice for $68.85 for a new carburetor and fuel lines from the mechanic.  I said I want to speak to the Owner Larry so he called him on his cell phone, I told Larry I did not think it was right he was charging me for parts when my weed wacker was working  fine when I came in and all I wanted was a tune up (oil change, spark plug and filter), Larry said the invoice stated that I said it had a bad carburetor, I never said that and it was not on the invoice the first time I showed up, in fact Larry even circled the spot where it states "service generally" and drew lines to a question mark when he said he needed to talk to the mechanic.  Larry said since he did the work the weed wacker is running great, better than ever, I was so upset while I was at the shop I never even had the mechanic start the weed wacker, I started it when I got home and just like before it started just fine.  While I was at the shop I told the mechanic the only reason I came here was because of Angie's List and I was going to be giving Acme a bad review, he walked away to call Larry again to tell him how upset I was and Larry told him to just charge me for what was on the invoice.

I truly am disappointed, this is the first time in which I have read good reviews on Angie's list and had such bad service!!! I thought the first time I met Larry he was a man of his word when he told me he was going to "make it right" I truly thought he was being honest.   I went to the shop twice to pick up equipment, had to wait an extended period of time while I waited for the mechanic to get off vacation so Larry could talk to him just to have Larry tell his mechanic just have him pay what's on the invoice.

I would really think long and hard before bringing any equipment to Acme to get serviced!!!  It takes a lot for me to give someone a bad review but I felt so strongly I sat down from 10-11pm tonight to write this review because I wanted to keep the promise I made to Acme that I was going to let the Angie list members know the kind of service they can expect when you walk in their place of business.

After trying unsuccessfully to find a lawn mower repair on Google and reading all the horror stories that went with the one's I found i decided to use Angie's list. Mike's shop was a 15 minute drive. The mower had sat for about 3 years. I was afraid I'd have to buy a new one. I was greeted promptly and told it would be done by Wednesday at the latest. I dropped it off Friday morning. I was told it would be about $75 and I was thinking that was much lower than the charges to the poor suckers I read about on Google.
The mower was repaired by the end of the next business day, Monday, at a total coat of $62.00. I was thrilled!
This place is great! The people who work there are great! I will happily refer them every chance I get!

h waptFrom the moment I pulled up to the storefront, I felt comfortable.  I was directed to the rear of the store where two technicians came out to my van.  They knew both models instantly and paid particular attention to one of the units.  We exchanged info.  I told him they hadn't run since Wilma but both of them worked hard for 3 weeks post storm.
I didn't get the names of the men that were working in the shop.  JoAnn was running the office portion and was very helpful and quite handy.
They estimated when I brought it in that the job would be $120 for each.  I told them to go ahead.  This was on Saturday 9/5/2015.  They were clear at the time that when the units were ready, they expected promt pick up.They said I should expect a call on Tues or Wed.  They were closing on labor day.  Sure enough on Wednesday afternoon, JoAnn called and said the units were ready and when would I come to pick them up.  I told her Thursday morning.  Things changed and I couldn't make the Thursday pick up but I called them and said it would be Friday.  Friday afternoon they called again to remind me to pick up the units.
I went to the shop on Friday afternoon.  One of the men and JoAnn greeted me at the rear of the store.  The technician (and I assume the owner) went through each of the units with me.  Pulled the crank and they both started on the first pull.  He reviewed the  procedure for starting both units with me.  He advised me on how to handle units that will be sitting.  Following key points.  1.  Do Not use gasoline with ethanol added.  They gave me the names of two stations where I could get gasoline w/o ethanol.  2.  Put stabilizer in with the gas in both the generator and the stored gasoline.  3.  Start up the unit at least once every six months and let it run for a few minutes.  4.  Manage the gas as both of my units do not allow draining the gas.
JoAnn and the owner helped me get the units in my van.  He paid particular attention to making sure units would not damage my car.
I paid the bill with a charge card and returned them home.
A great experience.  Polite, helpful, direct.  Cost was well below estimate which was another good surprise.
I would recommend this store/service to anyone.

Bought a Honda single speed, self propelled lawnmower in June, 2000. I have about 10,000 sq. ft of yard that I mow regularly.
During growing season I mow every 5 days, gradually cutting back to 10 days in the winter. After 14 years of  troub le free service,
the throttle control assembly took one hit too many and the adjustment handle snapped, broke the casing and that ended the day's work.
Next day I took a look at what I had left to work with, and using two vise grips I was back in busines. Unfortunately, as the weeks went by the mower took longer to start, and more fiddling with the vise grips was needed.  Looking things over, I saw the two mulching blades really needed sharpening, and conceded that five years was long enough to wait for an oil change.
The engine and drive system both worked like new, there was no rust and the original pull start, drive belt, and wheels all worked fine. Not time for a new mower yet.
Decided that a benefit of retirement should inlude having sombody else do the maintenance/repair work for a change.
Since I had worked for a big box store selling mowers, pressure washers, etc. for more than twenty years, I knew where not to take my Honda for service. Customer's horror stories wiith repair shop ripoffs, incompetence and price gouging were commonplace. So I was off to Angie's List.
Some quick research narrowed it down to Lauderdale Lakes Small Engine Repair. Terrific reviews.
I called, spoke to Mike McGuire, the owner, on Friday 1/23 and brought the mower right in.
Explained the problem, answered a few questions about what I wanted done, left a deposit and got an expected pickup day
    for the following Wednesday.
Sure enough, mid morning Wenesday, Mike called and I went down to retrieve my Honda.
The entire cable assembly had been replaced, oil was changed, the two blades expertly sharpened, and a new sparkplug installed. Mike set the control to the start position, and a single pull started it right up. Then we went in to settle the bill.
I figured anything up to $100 would be ok, labor costs being what they are. I hadn't asked for an estimate when I left the mower
on Friday. Just to talking to Mike had made me comfortable and my gut feeling was that he was a decent guy. Not to mention
the great reviews he already had.

When the bill totaled less than $70.00 I was pleasantly surprised. And I was glad I had gone with Mike.
What could have been a nightmare experience, as so many others have had, my experience couln't have been better.
I noticed that a number of customers who were either dropping off, or picking up, were small one or two man commercial operations. These are guys who earn their living with their equipment and can't afford down time, or exorbitant repair charges.
It was encouraging to see how well they were treated by Mike.
An honest capable mechanic is not easy to find.
My thanks to Mike and thanks to Angie's List.

    ACME SERVICE
My Dad has gone to ACME for decades so they were my first call.  Services included repair, tune up and blade sharpening all for the original estimated price.  Larry was friendly and even helped me lift the mower into my car.  The only inconvenient part was having to take time off work to drop off and pick up the mower.  Hours listed on all of the online profiles were inaccurate in stating only M-F 8-5.  Come to find out they are OPEN on Saturday mornings.   Will definitely bring all of my equipment - mowers, edgers, blowers, and generators - there in the future.

. I took the lawnmower to their shop at 10;00 a.m. and explained it wouldn't start. Mike said they would get to it as soon as possible and give me a call when it was done.  I couldn't believe it when I got a call at 3;00 that afternoon and it was all set.
Mower runs like new. Am very happy with the service and Mike and crew were easy to deal with. Will def.  use them in the future and recommend them highly.

Went in on the Monday to see if they could even change out the heads on my Craftsman whacker. They checked and although didn't have the parts in, I was told that the truck would be there on Wednesday and that they would order parts to be delivered then. I got a call on Friday, just before Labor Day (yay!) that they were both ready and I went and picked them up. Very reasonable cost of $50 to replace two ends. I will be taking my lawnmowers there soon for service as I own several properties and they always have to be kept up. They've always provided me great service at a very reasonable cost and I don't hesitate to recommend.

Got this referral off the list (the reason I joined). Took mower to him and he promised it in three days (other shops called earlier varied from a week to several weeks). He called back later in the day and said it was ready. Prompt, courteous, professional. What more can you ask?
