General Contracting reviews in Pompano Beach

    ABC Roofing Corp
The company was highly recommended; however, our experience overall was not good. Main problem was with communication. The work crew did not show up on the day work was scheduled, and we received no call. The next day they did not show up again. Calls to the office were not returned. Once we got in touch with the office, we were told that the crew had not gotten to a number of jobs and that they would likely arrive that afternoon or the next day. They arrived not long after I spoke with the office that day - I guess the backlog suddenly cleared up. Once onsite, the crew did the work but was unresponsive to my wife's attempts to speak with them. The crew finished the work for the day and just left. Now, I understand there can sometimes be language issues; however, a good company ensures its customers are kept informed of the status of work and are given an opportunity to discuss what is being done (and any issues they may see). Neither the work crew nor the office communicated the status of the work. The poor communication would have simply been irritating if there were not issues noted that required ABC's attention. When the pool screen was pulled back from the damaged roof area, the fascia board to the left of the main problem area had clear rotted spots. Although our contract says ABC would "install new 2x8 fascia board" these damaged areas were not replaced. I called the office and notified them of the additional work that was necessary, and even stated that we could discuss whether or not the needed work was covered in the original contract. I just wanted the repair completed. I was told that the work crew would be notified and would take a look at the area. We were not at home when the crew returned to complete the initial work they had started (valley repair and replace the tile). They did not do any additional work or contact us about the rotten fascia board. The next contact we had from ABC was an e-mail invoice that stated "Please be advised that roof repairs have been completed...Payment is now due in full." No communication regarding the work that still needed to be done. Rather than continue the frustration of attempting to work with this company, I am paying the invoice and getting another company to complete the work. My advice to those shopping for a roofing company - be aware of the comments in this and other reviews that relate an awful communication experience with ABC. I would choose a company that does good work AND communicates with its customers, showing some level of concern for their time and satisfaction with the work. Good luck.

    AZ Contracting & Restoration
Process was scheduled and planned went to his office and picked out the colors, coverings, and he drew the plans for kitchen, gave us dates and the only hold ups are for outside inspections. We had to move out but we had no issues with the workers. His office required signatures on all orders of colors etc. which was good. His supervisor or himself would come and check on progress of workers and for final punch list. Communication with the company all personal was excellent through the whole process.

    Apadana Group Inc
We had $20,000 in mold/water damage to our house and Ryan and his team of experts exceeded our repair expectations. They met the agreed upon deadline, didn't charge additional money, and even went as far as helping with some electrical work which was not part of the original scope of work. I will go as far as saying Ryan and his team are the best group of contractors we have ever had work done by.

    Scotty Mac Construction, Inc.
He told me what a good job he would do and how everything was very professional. Upon repeated requests for the estimate I never received it. He said it was all ready and would be sent to me. If he didn't want the job he

    Villa's Construction & Remodeling Inc
Absolutely fantastic job in every respect. Take a look at pictures. John Villa and his team took a tired 2 bedroom beach condo and made it into a 1 bedroom masterpiece that rivals anything out there. This was a COMPLETE gut job and no easy feat. We did not have to hire a designer as John came up with great ideas and options for us. He brought up many things to consider that we would not have even thought of. These guys can do the impossible and get it right the first time. Attention to detail is the name of the game with Villas Remodeling. They don't cut corners or use inferior materials. Impeccable wood work, and the tile installation is flawless. John has the best dry wall guy that I have ever seen and made the old popcorn ceilings perfectly smooth. To give you some idea of the craftsmanship used, he sets the corner beads with a level. From custom cabinets to completely replacing the wiring, plumbing, air-conditioning ducts and soffits they did it all. The crew is well dressed, polite and professional. Even the condo management was impressed which is saying something. One great thing is that John is responsive. If you call him or send a text he will respond promptly if not on the spot. John or his brother Johnathan will visit the work site every day when work is in progress to make sure it is being done correctly and address any issues that might arise. He provides regular updates even if not asked. The best thing is that he is honest. This company is his baby and he takes pride in his work. It clearly shows .

    Eurotrend Kitchens
The absolute worst contractor experience that I have ever experienced and I have been through countless renovations. We started a kitchen and bathroom renovation project with Tony Pelc of Eurotrend Kitchens Inc in November 2016. It is now May of 2018 and we still have a kitchen that is partially finished. Some doors are missing, some are damaged, most are misaligned, edge banding is falling off, handles are wobbly, etc. If you can think of something that could go wrong with a contractor, multiply it by 10x and that is what you get with Tony Pelc of Eurotrend Kitchens. Tony comes across as a very nice guy and always tries to assure you that everything is going according to plan or will be done in time. If you think he is going to come back and made adjustments and fixes, you are mistaken. After 1.5 years of waiting on him, we finally had to fire him last week. We had guarantees that the kitchen and bathrooms would be completed in September 2017, then October 2017. Then Tony took a long vacation to New Zealand. We gave him a final chance to come back here in April 2018 to correct everything. As usual, he was a no show. Eurotrend/Tony Pelc is a typical nightmare contractor that you hear stories about. Everything that can possibly go wrong, will go wrong with him. He has every excuse in the book ready to go. We are going to lose approximately $15,000 by hiring another contractor to remove a bunch of the awful workmanship and replace a good portion of the work. Would not recommend Tony to my worst enemy.

    M & P Maintenance
Fair until the end, then badly. He did a good job on those interior things he did, but did not finish the list. The tile repair was not done. Exterior painting was fine. He communicated reasonably, and worked when he said he would, except when it rained, and then we had to deduct that he wasn't coming. We had two roof leaks. He told me the whole roof should be replaced. I told him the roof was 11 years old, so I wanted to know why he thought it should be replaced, so he said he could coat the shingles in the areas of the leaks with either of a couple of products (not specified). So I asked what the coating products would be (I am a Class A builder in Virginia. I am almost 70 and have been in construction a long time.) His response was that he has been doing this for 30 years. I replied that I have been doing it much longer than that, and I still wanted to know the details of what he proposed doing before we agreed to it. He then replied that he could not do my roof work. I would have to find someone else. After that he never responded to any of my texts. He was adequate, but I would not use him again.

    Home Repairs by Jerry
Jerry called the night before the appointment as a reminder and to confirm time, 9:30 AM. Jerry came with his helper John at 9:20 and started to work right away. He looked at fixing the existing attic ladder but could not, so he started the replacement work. All went smoothly and when the new ladder was in place he let me open it and climb on it. He let me know that he has cut it a bit short, but it still work. Since I did not any trim, he offered to go and get it. He got it back and installed. Also he extended the ladder so it would not be short. And that was great! Overall, they did a good job. Jerry is very affable and talkative. Would not hesitate to call him again.

    Zelinski Woodworks
Zelinski Woodworks was such a great company to work with. I just purchased a new house wanted some interior work done but just had a few floating ideas. I received an e-mail back almost immediately and was quickly set up with an appointment. The owner, Brian, came out personally to help finalize my ideas. The project was started right away and finished at a great pace. The custom wood designs throughout the house added so much! I will definitely be working with them again for any of my future projects.

    Gaita Carpentry Inc
Mario has a workman-like approach to all aspects of the job, helping to organize for the best order of completion, suggestions for where to save a few dollars, knowledge of codes to avoid going in directions which will not be acceptable. His work is precise, clean and organized, he works a predictable schedule, charges by the week for longer projects. He makes good sense and really knows what he is doing. Never disappointed, will not look anywhere else for carpentry, or a variety of other detail projects. He is the best!
