    GJC Window & Door Co
We had all windows and interior/exterior doors replaced in our home. The house was built in 1987. The Florida weather was not kind to the existing windows/doors and needed to be updated. GJC did a wonderful job replacing so many things. They did the job on-time, did a very professional job, and I would highly recommend them! Our house looks totally new! Thank you GJC!!

It worked pretty good. He was kind of a hard sell. He didn't want to come back here so he wanted to get the deal going. Then there were all kinds of problems. I gave him the down payment check and he took it back to the office and the secretary shredded it. I looked at my bank account and I'm saying geesh they haven't cashed that check yet.

So they came down and finished the job and they said, Alright, here's what you owe. So I write a check out for that. Then they call me up and say No that was wrong, you owe the second payment. I said ok what is that, they told me and I mailed them a check. Then they called me back, and said the very first check you gave the salesman, the secretary thought she scanned it on the phone and it didn't go thru so she shredded it. So I had to send another check. It was kinda sloppy housekeeping, office practices or whatever you want to call it.

The job itself, they did a pretty good job. I got hurricane shutters up, the accordion types, and they lost one of the locks, when you have them open, you have the little plastic things you put in to keep them open. One of them was missing, and they said are you sure it was in and I said yeah I know it was in because I just put them up not long ago. But other than that they did a pretty good job.

He started out around $3500 but then they said I needed a lead test and that was another $100. Then I found out they weren't gonna give me the double sliding windows, because I had all sliding windows put on except for the 2 double hung far windows. So my big picture window in the front, I found out they only gave me the single slide, that means you can slide the window over to one side. I said no I want the double slide so I can open one side of the window 6" and the other side 6". Well, that's another $170 so I said ok I'll pay it. Anyways, they ordered the windows, they put them in and they seem to have done a good job.

One thing I didn't like, there was a space over one of the windows. They bought a plastic spacer thing and I asked them if they were gonna put in any insulation, but they said oh no no. I think they should have because there was like a 1/2 gap on top of the window.

I should have gotten some other quotes. I still have 5 windows and a door to do and I think I am gonna look for a couple of other quotes.

    Reinhardt Construction Inc
We got to the point where we had to replace all of the windows in our 30-yr old house. After working with Jeff Reinhardt from Custom Home Repairs before, he was the 1st and only person we called for this project. As before when he did our sliders, he was extremely professional, worked around our schedule and did the job right. He's extremely detail oriented and the quality of work cannot be compared. When we were up North, we had to replace windows in our home, and it was not a great experience. Compared to that job, Jeff really made the whole project easy for us. He guided us to the windows we needed; price-shopped for the best price and quality; walked us through the entire process and did the work in a timely fashion at a reasonable price. I would absolutely recommend Jeff and the Custom Home Repairs Inc. folks for any home improvement project! They are First Class all the way!

    Storm Solutions Inc
We had a big job to do. We decided to install hurricane protection on our 2,600 sq. foot home near the water in Placida. We had many choices, shutters, screens, or impact windows and doors. Here is our story.
    Sales-
I met with three companies before deciding on Storm Solutions. The others were ok, but Storm took the time to answer our every question and explain all the options available to us. Our salesman, Scott, visited our home five or six times to explain every little detail. The owner of Storm Solutions, Jim Hawley was here multiple times to answer some technical questions I had about the procedure and to check that everything was going to work properly. He also brought his screen specialist here to verify that we could conceal the motorized lanai screen above the existing soffit.

We decided to replace all (except for two) of our doors and windows with impact reisistant, energy efficient windows from PGT and doors from Therma Tru. Beyond the hurricane protection, this would also gain us the effieciency of the e-glass. The two doors we did not replace were better protected by using a motorized 25 foot hurricane screen. We also installed a new impact, insulated garage door and motorized bug screen for the garage.
    Installation-
We started our project on 12/2/2013. The door and window crew (Marvin and Courtney) would remove one old window or door and replace it with the new impact window/door. That way the house was never exposed. They worked quickly, answered my every question (I had many), always kept the worksite clean and protected. The took extra time to make sure I was happy with each install as they went. They made sure every window and every door and lock set opened and closed like butter.
During this time the motorized screen for the lanai was installed. Buddy, the installer did a fabulous job and concealed the 10" by 10" screen box within my soffit as I wished. Unless the screen is deployed you would not know it is there. An added bonus to the screen beyond wind protection is that it can be lowered on a rainy or cold day to make an indoor/outdoor room on the lanai.
The impact garage door/bug screen was installed by Action doors (coordinated by Storm Solutions). They did a good job with that. Storm Solutions also sent a wind mitigation inspector after the job was complete so we could get the proper insurance rate reduction.
    Painting-
After all the hardware was installed, the doors had be painted (they come with only factory primer). The windows also needed to be "blended" around the openings to make the home  look original. The paint crew (Juan and Allen) were here quite a few days making everything look perfect. They painted two coats on all the doors, replaced, repaired and painted a stucco wall where we had to change an opening, trimmed out all the windows and made everything look brand new. We were amazed at the time they took to get everything just right. They told me "if you are happy, we are happy". That is what I like to hear from a vendor!
    Verdict-
This was a big, multi faceted project. From designing to ordering to installing to painting, Storm Solutions made it easy. Communication was always good, the workers were all great and everything went well. We are very glad we chose Jim Hawley and Storm solutions for this big upgrade project. We would highly recommend Storm Solutions to anyone who needs any type of hurricane protection.

Florida Lifetime Impact Window & Door Inc

Michael Lane has been out to my house several times to measure and answer all of my questions.     However, since the work has not yet been done, Ii really can't "finish" this story at this time.     I feel confident that he will do a good job and that I'll be pleased, but the jury is still out at this time.

The job was completed in June of 2013, and I was absolutely DELIGHTED!    All of the new windows and doors are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!     Plus, the resulting noise reduction in my house is unbelievable.

I had a few minor issues, but Michael took care of them to my complete satisfaction.

In the highly unlikely case that I'd buy another house that needed windows and doors, I would absolutely hire him again and, if I happen to learn of anyone looking for these services, I would recommend him "hands down" above anyone else.   He is a really good guy -  very honest, trustworthy, and reliable.

Estimate and installation date went well.  Installation day was good.  However some things weren't explained to us as well as I would have liked.  Therefore, when the inspector came we had to take molding off tops of windows so he could check underneath.
When inspector came, he found screws missing and there need to be a picture of the pool door shutters which we didn't have.  Also the window stops weren't all there and the molding coverings for the tops of the windows were missing in two rooms.
The company scheduled to come back and fix what was wrong, but we had to ask several times for them to put the pool door shutters up completely so we could see how they went up and get the picture.  The missing window stops were replaced, but the two molding strips are still missing.  (Will give them the benefit of the doubt and say those might still show up.)   I would like to be able to come back and change this review when the window moldings do arrive.
They all seem a little frazzled. Perhaps because of their good prices and what appears to be good quality windows, they may be taking on too much work.
They were very nice people and I hope to complete this review in the future to say that all parts of the job were completed.

    The Window Pros
The doors were supposed to be hurricane-proof doors. Out of the (4) doors installed, only one was hurricane proof. I would definitely not recommend this company.
